I've been working on that second rhythm for about 3 months so I can play John Legend's All of Me. LOTS of lap-taps. Lots of playing very slowly with the metronome. It helps a little to play with the arpeggio left hand --F Ab C F Ab C F Ab. I tap with my right hand on the "F"s. I'm improving VERY slowly. I think the rhythm might be easier if I played faster, but I can't get the notes right at that speed.

    Merci beaucoup for this.
What I'm trying to do now is trying to get intra-digital coordination. With my right hand, I want to play a 2 note rhythm with the 1 and 2 fingers, And then improvise with 3, 4 and 5. But I can't do it without losing the rhythm. I know I have to practice slow, in fact I traded my metronome in for a calender, and it's really hard. Have you done any videos for this?

Question: is there a book or resource with a library of musical phrases from a rhythmic pov? I started scoring the rhythms from some songs I love and see that the rhythmic structure is such a key part of making an interesting phrase to me. I have a syncopation book from ted reed that is not bad but it is not as geared to phrases (plus it is more meant for dummers)

i think im beat deaf ;-; i can do the main beats (crotchet) right but i cant do it with & (quaver) no matter how many times i practiced. and its rllllyy difficult for me to follow the beat. in my music class everyone seems to follow the beat with ease but i just cant follow the beat no matter how many times i practiced. my dream is to be a musician so im pretty mad at myself and i dont think i can accomplish my dream but ill still try :) thank you for the exercises

      I can relate!
Sometimes we overlook how the simplest action can bring amazing results. Do you recall what he said,
"If it helps to start with, count out loud as well," as tapping the beat? (2:51)
Have you tried counting OUT LOUD? It sounds so BASIC, but why not give it a go?
      All the best. Cheers!
