No doubt that's an 80's & 90's thing these days, but when you look at the cost we're paying for high end printers, it's not much to ask they continue providing replacement parts for longer than 12 months after ceasing production. Weird move on the screen resolution. I recall they praised the GK2 with bigger pixels than the competition on the basis that pixel size was as low as the human eye could perceive, focusing on technical improvements to make the surface finish greater (eg. reducing layer shift). Now seems like they reached the top, and because they have to release "something" new, they hoped on board with the smallest pixels ever. 🤨 With the quality on the GK2, I'm wondering how much they could resuce the price with a lower resolution screen, but then, you'll get the GK2 basically? The fact that they are incorporating tuning options and empty bottles though seems to suggest they are "open" to you using your own resin. That's something. They won't be able to void the warranty for this reason.
Will the exposure tool come out for the GK two? Would also like to see how the new features and improvements compare to the GK Two... Since i just bought it!! Wish i waited now

405nm is usually used by Biomedical grade resins. I would say they are probably trying to get into that market while still having a consumer grade printer.

I am running a photon mono X since year and looking for a machine to replace it. I am printing a lot for my hobby, which is RC scale Helicopter and Jet modeling, so quit detailed and sometimes functional. Actualy the elegoo Saturn Ultra 4 is in my focus but the uniformation is and was always on my mind. What I don't understand is, that all these companies are asking content creators only for there opinion and not the real customers. Big respect for you involvement in this printer here 🙂 I will follow your reviews to make a decision in the end.
Didn't Heygears had 385nm light on their first printer and than went for normal 405 in their new Reflex Rs ditching the 385. Wonder what could be the benefit of that. Wouldn't it make it incompatible with all those curing stations out there.
@@88RunnerBlade I think it’s important to note that 385 wasn’t ditched. At least what they told me today… Reflex and reflex RS are 2 different printers based on different user needs. So the original reflex has not been replaced yet.
Imagine if Heygears says on Livestream that they are opening their slicer and allowing to play with settings for different Resins. If they did that months ago, they would conquer the market like bamboo, but now new models are coming up like GK3 Pro that could be competition or even better for probably much lower price. I hope they make the turn and join the party.
Can't wait for the complaints for wanting more manual settings are supplanted by complaints that the in-built silcer support won't help them with their constant failures of alphabetsoup resin they got off Amazon warehouse deals on clearance.

Finally received my Ultra last week, now just waiting for the cure machine so I can start printing extra large models😂. Agree they took longer than expected to ship but in their defense the demand for these printers was massive and they found design errors during prototypes feedback and chose to fix instead of shipping defective products like other brands that will not be mentioned. Is it annoying? Yes but I’d rather wait longer instead of trying to mod something to work correctly.
They shipped/are shipping defective products. Almost everybody that got it found some problem with it. From cracked lids, misalignments, concave built plates and so on
@@88RunnerBlade I think they are both very different machines aimed at different user needs. You can’t compare HeyGears to anything without understanding its intention of the locked down system. But in a basic hardware level. The HeyGears still pisses all over the competition. But should the average hobbyist get a HeyGears?? That’s a genuine question I don’t know. I would. I love it. I just bougt gk2 to replace my form3, and i will not be buying anything new until companys start to put resin mixers in the vat. This is the single most impostant feature of resin printing mising in all consumer printers. I cannot express how much cleaner environmet it makes and its always ready to print, nothing to do before print, just click and done. Uniformation for me clicks the resin heating and build plate, i just wish for a resin mixer somewhere in the future. Maybe gods are hearing you better.
As always Ross, great video! However, pointing in the direction of Uniformation: If I buy the Ultra version, I expect it to be the top of the line product, not some halfway solution between a larger GKtwo and the other GK3s. I expect the maximum feature set. In addition to that, I ordered the GKthree Ultra on the first day of preorder and still did not even receive a shipping notice. The shipping dates aren't worth a dime. I had the same story with my GKtwo, had to wait multiple months for it with repeated delays and no notification of delays. I finally got it beginning of this year and the story repeats with the GKthree Ultra and now I get to know it is not even full featured compared to the other ones. I'm pissed.

@FauxHammer Thank you for clarification. Well, you just got three re-watches from me in bewilderment 😅 Because at Formnext video to showcase specs, it showed smaller width..
on the light source, while COB are generally sharper than matrix so that's good, the fresnel lens is mainly to make light point in the right at the sides and to not be too dim there so it's good for uniformity which is good, but I'm not sure that the fresnel lens it's self improves sharpness as some of the sharpest printers like the 8ks don't have one and it makes sense because they must cause some dispersion so I wouldn't expect more sharpness, just better performance at the sides of the printing area
@@FauxHammer yeha but no fresnel lens which resulted in the sides being dark and the light at quite a harsh angle, however the light beam was still very tight and results according to my pixel perfect tests are very very sharp. I have a m3 premium which theroericaly is the best because instead of a fresnel lens it has an off axis parabolic mirror to reflect the light to be fairly uniform and straight up without a fresnel lens which could disperse light, however it's not the sharpest printer, that could be because of the LCD though, it has the 28.5um LCD which isn't as good as the 29.7um ones or ofc the 22um 8ks LCD. Also I've mostly printed with a thick screen protector so I've just took that off and will take some tests again. It's hard to say just from design what light source is best because while some cob + fresnel are great you then get ones like the s3u which are just shitty shitty bang bang. So at the end of the day tests of the results are the most important thing which is why I'm making pixel perfect tests which can test with the neccisary precision.
What the hell??? I still haven't received my 3 Ultra... Moving from Elegoo to Uniformation was a huge mistake. Going to see if I can cancel my order and just wait for the new Saturn 16k.
(Updated) nope. I’m an idiot, it was 118 as people have said below… my fault, not Uniformation! I was responding as I expected people to ask about the size as it’s smaller than GKTWO (Original Comment) Nope…. I am correct, this will be spoken about in the review
I think Uniformation is providing you incorrect information, or at least there's a typo. The screen size is 211 x 118 (not 211 x 188). .019mm X 6230px is 118.37mm. .014mm X 15120px is 211.68mm. Easiest way to confirm is to physically measure the screen. The difference between 118mm and 188mm is 70mm, nearly 2.75".
I don't see peel force detection feature which by now should have been implemented as a de facto standard for a printer of this class. Well, a bit disappointed but still the price is yet to be revealed and it might not be cost effective i guess.
Sir ross..i am planning to buy the gk2 with the bundle but uniformation told me they are not shipping in my country(Philippines)..since the new gk3 pro is coming out i am considering to buy the pro instead with bundle..is there other way to be shipped it in my country?..thanks
Damn! Sexy look for the machine, but will we have to wait until 2025 for shipping? Also interesting to see that even if it is a medium-sized printer the printing depth is 18cm compared to 16cm for the GK 3 Ultra What I don't understand is that for the GK3 Ultra they kept the design of the GK2... While logically the new GK3 line should have the same visual style, a surprising choice... Of course we don't care about the appearance, but it's still a shame I think :/
huh, so they can't even release the GK3 Ultra on time by months but they're making 2 more. Maybe I should just cancel my Ultra and wait for a Ultra Pro, it's obvious where their efforts went.

06:23 Why all the Chinese always use these old Serif fonts in their apps? It's beyond me. Is it because they primarily use logographs for writing and they think Latin Serif fonts are "elegant"? Now seems like they reached the top, and because they have to release "something" new, they hoped on board with the smallest pixels ever. 🤨
With the quality on the GK2, I'm wondering how much they could resuce the price with a lower resolution screen, but then, you'll get the GK2 basically?
The fact that they are incorporating tuning options and empty bottles though seems to suggest they are "open" to you using your own resin. That's something. They won't be able to void the warranty for this reason.
I will 100% talk about this in my review. But the fact that you’re asking these questions pleases me.
Will the exposure tool come out for the GK two? Would also like to see how the new features and improvements compare to the GK Two... Since i just bought it!! Wish i waited now
This was the place for hate right? Too bad that I have misplaced mine so I can't share it, but I promise I will bring it next time. Looking forward to the review as I have decided to go for a Uniformation printer as I can't bring myself to lock my self in with Haygear. I was about to buy my first resin printer a few month ago but the plans have been pushed forward to hopefully early next year.
@@henrik.norberg if this is your first Uniformation printer. You should hopefully enjoy it. I’m putting this out there before the review goes live.
405nm is usually used by Biomedical grade resins. I would say they are probably trying to get into that market while still having a consumer grade printer.
@fauxhammer I was on the brink of buying a Saturn 4 Ultra, never considered buying a gktwo because of the price tag. Thanks to your discount code I now ended up ordering a gktwo :) thanks for the code and keep up your good work! hope I made the right decision choosing the gktwo over the Saturn 4 Ultra
Glad I could help! It is a great printer and I honestly still see equal benefits to each machine
Bought the GK2 1 year ago and already an old fork... is this normal in resin printing? Anyway won't go for another Uniformation... delivery was bad(delays after delays), absolutely no answer to E-Mails (wrote 3 or 4 of it to the support) The front screen cracked suddenly i can't understand why.. the vat is absolutely horror to clean.. na man im done
@@abaddon7971 sorry to hear about this experience. I’ve not heard someone have such a bad time before. But I can understand that this has put you off the brand
User error most likely. GKTwo is rock solid.
Besides the build volume, webcam, and internal wifi, what are the differences between these and the Ultra? I get the feeling the Ultra (which normally is above a Pro in naming convention) is getting the shaft here. I really want the larger build volume but I don't want it in lieu of some great features.
Also a little poke, What do I have to do do get my name in the videos? ;)
For what i see, better resolution, better screen, better light source and better Z-axis
@@dasdude pretty much what 88-runner said. But I can’t say more about the practical difference til Sunday.

With the other printers available and coming, is the GKTwo (especially with the discounts) still as good of an option as your previous reviews have described?
It’s still a fantastic printer and I’m unhappy they are stopping production of it.
@ good to know. Thanks for such a fast reply. Might have to jump on that code.
Big respect for you involvement in this printer here 🙂
I will follow your reviews to make a decision in the end.
Didn't Heygears had 385nm light on their first printer and than went for normal 405 in their new Reflex Rs ditching the 385. Wonder what could be the benefit of that. Wouldn't it make it incompatible with all those curing stations out there.
Most resin that cure at 405nm also can cure at 385nm. 405nm LEDs are cheaper and use less power but cure slower.
@@88RunnerBlade I think it’s important to note that 385 wasn’t ditched. At least what they told me today…
Reflex and reflex RS are 2 different printers based on different user needs. So the original reflex has not been replaced yet.
The ball screw! Just kidding, I had to watch the video to know that. I am excited to tune in as I am looking for my first printer. Good stuff Ross
@@RobertoFlores-pv5tl thank you
Imagine if Heygears says on Livestream that they are opening their slicer and allowing to play with settings for different Resins.
Imagine that… I’ve been talking to the CEO directly for a good portion of today. And of course, this topic came up.
@@FauxHammer this answer sounds suspicious, like maybe, could be, can be, feasible, obtainable :)
@@88RunnerBlade perhaps. I’m not significantly clearer as it involves a level of complexity beyond me. But conversations are ongoing and I’ll revisit them over the next few days
From cracked lids, misalignments, concave built plates and so on
I feel that better communication would help. But yeah, I trust they will make good
@@FauxHammer What do you think about new GK3 Pro vs Reflex RS? Just from preview, it seems like it's a step up from reflex
I would. I love it. But it comes with its own limits.

PS. Pretty good pronunciation!
Still waiting on the RS in the mail but mannnn does that green make me drool.
I'm pissed.

on the light source, while COB are generally sharper than matrix so that's good, the fresnel lens is mainly to make light point in the right at the sides and to not be too dim there so it's good for uniformity which is good, but I'm not sure that the fresnel lens it's self improves sharpness as some of the sharpest printers like the 8ks don't have one and it makes sense because they must cause some dispersion so I wouldn't expect more sharpness, just better performance at the sides of the printing area
@@awildtomappeared5925 wasn’t the 8ks COB? So long ago to remember now
@@FauxHammer yeha but no fresnel lens which resulted in the sides being dark and the light at quite a harsh angle, however the light beam was still very tight and results according to my pixel perfect tests are very very sharp.

Are you sure about the build size? 211x188 seems incorrect given that the previous one was 228x128
(Updated) nope. I’m an idiot, it was 118 as people have said below… my fault, not Uniformation!
I was responding as I expected people to ask about the size as it’s smaller than GKTWO
(Original Comment) Nope….
@@Wildman88 Exactly. 211x 188 is practically square and its clearly not, and more 2:1 in ration.
its 118
Yeah it’s 118. My bad. Updated the description and my first response to this comment.
I don't see peel force detection feature which by now should have been implemented as a de facto standard for a printer of this class. Well, a bit disappointed but still the price is yet to be revealed and it might not be cost effective i guess.
I'm curious about the pro version 385nm. What means in terms of resin and curing station?
Cures a bit faster but uses more power.
Sir ross..i am planning to buy the gk2 with the bundle but uniformation told me they are not shipping in my country(Philippines)..since the new gk3 pro is coming out i am considering to buy the pro instead with bundle..is there other way to be shipped it in my country?..thanks
Did you try finding a licensed dealer? They won't have the deal Uniformation has on their site, but maybe other sales.
@rphl-v3k thanks..ill try
Damn! Sexy look for the machine, but will we have to wait until 2025 for shipping?
Also interesting to see that even if it is a medium-sized printer the printing depth is 18cm compared to 16cm for the GK 3 Ultra
What I don't understand is that for the GK3 Ultra they kept the design of the GK2...

Sure they are, but not in tech devices. Times New Roman is the default font the web browsers resort to when a web page has lost its path to the CSS. It has an inherent "broken" feeling on electronic devices, in addition to an old-fashioned style.
