@Leopold Agreed. I use wireless charging much more often than I do with charging it with a cable. I mainly charge it wirelessly in order to greatly reduce the wear and tear of the phone's USB-C port. It's already used plenty though because that's how I transfer files to and from the computer.

tried it yesterday; worked out well apart from one thing to note: the plastic frame up top and to the side does have a function to support the glass. I reinstalled the glas backing with the proper, precut adhesive and upon medium pressure between the upper edge of the frame and the camera lens it easily shattered. I kept the frame and will reinstall the upper part of it, together with some adhesive, to make the phone not quite as prone to breaking when I get my new backing in the mail. just a heads up.
@@HaxxorElite Well, the colored film is actually a rather important structural part; took no more than 24 hours for it so go south completely, aka being reduced to a pile of shards. If attempted I would heavily recommend NOT removing the NFC-Coil, as that cushions the glas as well as getting a clear, rigid case to go over it to make up for the missing film. I reinstalled a colored back again, tbh. ^^

Im replacing the battery in my old s8+ (battery is still in the mail) and well removing the old bloated battery I kept thinking how beautiful the inside of the phone is and how I wish the glass was clear. Thus googling happened and I am here lol, thanks for posting this and showing how simple it will be to do this. My s8+ is no longer my daily phone so I am not worried about water resistance and all that but I will still keep the wireless in there. Side note I have about these phones, the inside design is amazing from a repair stand point. Lots of connectors are pogo pins or zifs, no need to solder or heavy skill things inside! Hardest part is opening it unless you had battery swell and then you can just effortlessly/carefully peel the back panel off lol. I wish more phones were still made this way or all phones were really.

For a video that could have been just a simple tear-down and explanation of how to remove paint, you managed to make a really fun and creative experience. The variety of shots in the cinematography, from the point of view shots in the store and the alternation between overhead and table level perspective to demonstrate the process and show off the internals of the S8, make for a really immersive experience. I also really appreciate the seamless, no-nonsense editing, showing only the best shots and keeping the pace lively and fluid. Your videos really kick ass. Love the dry humor as well. Paendabear Nah, I'd keep the wireless charging. It still looks good to me with it. What we need if samsung decides to make it is a glass outer frame (the thing made out of aluminum) with aluminum wires as a support.
I love the "crystal" look of phones and controllers and handhelds. Anything that shows off the innards of a piece of tech looks cool. Id love to have a clear phone thats fully working like that :D

Your clear Game Boy reminds me of the clear DualShock 1(PS1) controller I had. It had a green tint to it but transparent and you could clearly see all the boards and wiring inside the controller which was pretty neat.
Zack: This video is basically the reason why your channel is without any peers on youtube. What's it like to produce a best-in-class channel on youtube? :D And abso-frickin-lutely...not only Samsung but all manufacturers should offer this kind of transparent option for their already glass-backed devices. Aside from the potential loss of wireless charging, I can see absolutely no downside for manufacturers here and in fact, doing such a thing would reduce costs since no paint/coatings on the underside of the glass would be required. Just brilliant work Zack...thanks for sharing! Were I possessed of deeper pockets [and the required skils], I would for sure attempt to replicate this. :D

If you manage to separate the coil from the black adhesive you could maintain the wireless charging and keep the looks.
That's not possible. This coil is conductive and exposed could lead to shortage. That black "adhesive" is just an isolation.
It might work if he found clear adhesive.

you're the only TH-camr I know who would willingly get rid of wireless charging to have a cool jelly clear s8, I love your give no care attitude and hope you can have a clear note 8 when Samsung releases it later this year.
Paendabear Nah, I'd keep the wireless charging. It still looks good to me with it. What we need if samsung decides to make it is a glass outer frame (the thing made out of aluminum) with aluminum wires as a support.
Or a plastic frame but glass back.

Your clear Game Boy reminds me of the clear DualShock 1(PS1) controller I had. It had a green tint to it but transparent and you could clearly see all the boards and wiring inside the controller which was pretty neat.

And abso-frickin-lutely...not only Samsung but all manufacturers should offer this kind of transparent option for their already glass-backed devices. Aside from the potential loss of wireless charging, I can see absolutely no downside for manufacturers here and in fact, doing such a thing would reduce costs since no paint/coatings on the underside of the glass would be required.

Joe Satchton keep in mind that manufacturers could use clear adhesive for the coil, which would make the phone fully functional

Guess the problem may be whether such a visual design style would actually appeal to consumers at large. But again, even here, a limited, optional run would seem to be a win-win situation for everyone. After all, with the near parity these days in terms of smartphone features, such a radically distinctive design would really attract media attention.
