Thanks. I think Sammy is much more down to earth and is easy-going but David is just as not easy-going as he might pretend to be. But Sammy didn't need to mention Dave's deteriorating looks. One thing I notice is David seems so damn smart .. like a genius salesman who will not shut up, so smooth but contemptable in his way. Not likeable but so charismatic in "Jump". I really can't be sure because I only liked about 7 songs by Van Halen. I like Eddie's guitar but he didn't have the sound of a Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix or many guitarists. Innovative, creative but not compelling imo. Just a good looking guy without soul to his music. Like this review.
*THE SEX PISTOLS RULE!* *It's not just that they didn't sell out punk. It's that they highlighted that [any] Hall Of Fame is some industry marketing machine and NOT an actual organization in the service to ART.*
Sex Pistols being inducted is also a joke. Yes, they're "iconic"... in the worst way. The music is mediocre, the lyrics are horrible AND offensive, and they're assholes (well, mainly Johnny Rotten - Steve Jones is actually marginally talented & a decent human being).
@@screwyootube1 I guess you're one of those types who can't handle the truth. I love The Velvet Underground, Rush, and The Beatles and think that the Sex Pistols make nice proverbial neighbors for those groups
The funny thing about this is that not only is the statement by the sex pistols spot on, its also massively hypocritical and a great example of why its spot on in the first place too.
i randomly caught an induction show flipping channels a while back and they were inducting N.W.A. I didnt care in the first place but that made my eyes roll.

True, but I think Sammy's response to it was equally so, as it is an honest fact. Every VH fan knows Dave and Sammy, but millions have never even heard of Gary. His exclusion from the induction was right and just, and they both honorably acknowledged that reality. Props to them both.
I remember seeing him with VH on the VHIII tour (1998). Cherone is a great singer, and they performed tracks that they hadn't performed since the Roth era, but he never really did gel with the VH sound.
...you guys should have seen VH in the late 70's and early 80's back when they really rocked...back in the Diamond Dave days...by the 90's they were over as a band, not even the Red Rocker could save them from mediocrity...
R&R HOF has about as much integrity as the Nobel Peace prize and the Oscars. It matters only to the industry leaders that think it is THEIR show. None of these awards mean shit to me.
@Fred Jennings "R&R HOF has about as much integrity as the Nobel Peace prize and the Oscars" Hey, Obama won the Nobel Peace Prize, so that pretty much destroys half your argument Also Oscar is woke because he lives in a trash can, but still teaches children, so that destroys the other half
Eddie had more creative freedom with Sammy Hagar. The new music was more sophisticated. However DLR in Van Halen was raw and primal. I liked both. Can't blame Eddie for bringing his kid in but VH is not VH without Michael Anthony. You can only break up a band so much, before you start losing interest. Michael Anthony's background vocals were underrated. It was a big ingredient in The VH sound.
Great comment on all points. Love that you gave the Hagar era a chance and saw the different strengths of DLR era versus SH era. And agreed on Michael Anthony. He was lead singer for another band when VH recruited him. I was sometimes underwhelmed by his bass playing but agree he added more as a backing vocalist.
@Kevin Michael Journey was better than Led Zeppelin, but yet they weren't inducted until 2018, 23 years AFTER Led Zeppelin, who are both overexposed AND overrated! 🙄
1:40 So let me get this right... the band being inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has to pay $25,000 to sit at a table for the privilege?! No wonder they didn't show up!
@@gary6754 That's tax deductible though. Many artists are paying these fees simply to solidify their name in history. It is quite a poor example of what an "award & honorary" gig should be.
@@xocomaox The Sex Pistols were spot on. The exorbitantly high fees for artists to attend *THEIR OWN INDUCTION* are utterly bizarre and completely unnecessary. I assume this damn museum sells tickets and earns revenue. So why the shameless money-grab? Some of these artists are long retired and can't even afford these fees. What "non-profit orgs" are these fees going to? A charity of the artist's choice? It is all very odd... That said, induction into the museum definitely has its benefits, which is why Steve Miller, despite his criticism, ultimately decided to show up. With the exception of the Pistols, can't think of any artist that refused . The vast majority of artists do pay the $$$, show up, accept the award and even play. They all bend down to the museum. It is worth it to them.
I remember watching this “induction” live and couldn’t believe that the only two members there were the two kicked out of VH (they really did Michael Anthony dirty, I get Eddie wanting his kid in the band but wtf? Michael was loyal and never needed the spotlight while providing a strong bass and backing vocals) To be honest I don’t watch the presentation anymore after VH was inducted, either the artists getting in isn’t really “Rock” or the band has been together for so long, the animosity is dripping from the stage. I watched the Eagles' induction and Don & Glenn were ‘gracious’ enough to ‘allow’ past members to attend. IMO Don Henley has “lived long enough to become the villain” I can no longer listen to Eagles songs because of bitter, greedy ol’ Don. Watching the “Hall of Fame” is just depressing now, when it was once an honor & celebration.
I love how the Sex Pistols insulted them straight up, and also the very Canadian way that Alex Lifeson insulted them in person with his infamous Blah Blah Blah acceptance speech. Translation: "Your vapid award means nothing to me, I see your greedy lips flapping as they expel hot air so I do likewise, ya effing windbags! FU!"
The Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame is just one big, giant excuse for wealthy people to complain; they whine just as much when they're inducted as they do when they're not inducted.
From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits. They were inducted in the HOF only in 2017...It says a lot about the HOF $$$$
My grandaddy loved ELO. He was born in 1922. I used to listen to their records with him and my dad and smoke that fine Panama grass with them. Good, simple, wholesome times through the 70s and 80s man, wish I could go back and see them both one more time before I die.
@@j.w.3345 wow I am sure you don’t know the full extent of their music catalogue. ELO has done so many rock songs just go to ELO’s second album, the third album the fourth album and the fifth album to name a few.

In his book of half truths and lies , RED ,Hagar said the band cancelled the Alaskan part of the tour because of scheduling . After OU812 came out , I was expecting the band to tour up in Alaska because Hagar played up here a few times and he said he'd be coming back up again during his VOA concert in Anchorage Alaska . I told someone I knew that worked at the city's sports arena where most concerts are and he replied that the band would never come up with Hagar . Then he told me why . He was great friends with one of the arenas main managers . The manager told him that after the VOA show Hagar found out he didn't sell out by a handful of tickets . Well Captain Candyass had a little hissyfit and told the manager he'd never do anymore concerts up here . And Van Halen never came up to Alaska to tour until Gary Cherone replaced him . True story . By the way , his book is full of lies and too much crap about the brothers when the book was supposed to be about Hagar . He used it as a smear campaign against the Halen brothers .

The hall lacks legitimacy for many reasons. I saw van halen live on 2009 vlantines day in Orlando. I was 14. It was an incredible concert. Will never forget RIP Eddie. You were my inspiration to play guitar 🎸
Whatever else went on with band politics in VH, I think we can all agree that not continuing without Eddie is absolutely the right thing. Also, apologies for the structure of that sentence.
Van Halen is the Van Halen brothers. I have always preferred the David Lee Roth era myself. But without Eddie I don’t believe David would be famous whatsoever. That’s not to say he isn’t a great frontman. But it’s Eddie’s lead guitar and his outstanding rhythm guitar playing that could make any band better. So without his own band he still could have been doing magic in other bands and become iconic. Everyone else was a replaceable. But Van Halen was not just your average great band. They definitely have a place in history as one of the ten greatest rock bands in American history. There really should be something to rival the Rock and Roll hall of fame. It’s always been full of crap in my opinion. Yes great bands are in it. But it’s so corporate that it isn’t a true HOF once again IMO. The bands that have either had to wait while scrub bands get the n or rap or pop get in. It’s so ridiculous that it should be called the bubble gum pussy hall! We the true fans of Rock and metal should be the ones voting not some fancy filthy rich nerd that probably hardly ever was a true fan of Rock music. Is Iron Maiden in yet? Deep Purple? Why these bands didn’t get in on the first year eligible is stupid. Where’s Priest? Rush waiting forever like YES had to. It shows how wrong they are. I'm willing to bet that there's some deal between the Van Halen brothers to dissolve the band if one of them couldn't make it. The band was property of the VH brothers and they never tried to hide it, it's reasonable. Eddie's son can't carry his father's legacy alone since Alex is not getting any younger either... also because he can't carry VH's legacy.

they shouldn't call it the rock and roll hall of fame when two of the main inductees this year were Jay-Z and LL COOL J. Successful entertainers in there own right but not rock and roll. The hall has lost all credibility with many until bands like Judas Priest and Motorhead are inducted. The main prerequisite for induction should be that the bands play rock and roll music. At the beginning of every Motorhead concert Lemmy would come on stage, grab that bass guitar, look in that crowd and say "we are Motorhead and we play Rock and roll' which should automatically qualify them ahead of these others.
Yeah, he used to work at Strawberries in Boston. He once called and left a message on my machine when he was with The Dream to come down and see his band.
The entire Rock and Roll Hall of fame feels manufactured to me, much like most of modern mainstream music, something that Rock n Roll was never meant to be - or at the very least it's always meant to be about sticking it to whatever authority is around at that time.
I have been a rabid VH fan since the first album was released in 1978. There are a ton of things I could say but all I really want to say is RIP the incomparable Edward Van Halen. We miss you Eddie.
I would like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee to be listed, not anonymous. There are so many bands that should have been inducted a long time ago. Love Van Halen♥️
I think it’s so disrespectful to demand honorees pay for their own table. The HOF should have a fund set up to pay. Even fans or sponsors could be asked to contribute but to expect $25,000 from the guests of honor ? RUDE !
These people are icons in the world of rock and roll. Everyone has a hero. It's sad to find out that groups like VH and others have to deal with so much politics and bad blood. These people were rock and roll during a time they were touring and making albums. I find it disturbing that idols of these powerhouse bands cannot get the real support from an institution that was set up to honor them.
"Your anonymous as judges, but your still music industry people." It should be, "You're anonymous as judges, but you're still music industry people." It's a simple check to always get that right.
HOF IS SUCH A BIG JOKE! When you think Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) was inducted only in 2017 it was way too late. HOF has no credibility. Omg, did Sammy actually say he was in the band for 21 years? Lol. Sam, if you get fired in 1996 and not reunite until 2004, then those 8 years with you out of the band do not count.
I think he was talking about 21 years from the time he joined VH up until their induction, which was a problem because the HoF requires a minimum of 25 years from first releasing an album with a band or as a solo artists. Haggar was clearly not eligible going by those rules.
@@patrickstewart3446 the band's first album being at least 25 years old is what makes the band eligible. Doesn't matter if later members weren't in the band yet. Also Sammy Hagar as a musician had albums older than 25 years in 2007. So either way, he was eligible.
Unfortunately Dave will never get the credit he deserves for making Van Halen the band they became. Ed was a great guitarist but Dave (even Sammy) pieced all those great riffs and ideas into actual songs making them into something magical. Dave pulled Ed and Alex out of their Black Sabbath progressive music and introduced all of the dance and party elements that became the band that took over the world. When Ed worked with Dave, it was Dave's influence that made them sound a certain way. It's Sammy's influence that colored that era as well. Ed had great riffs but didn't know how to write full songs. Once Ed took over, even with a great singer like Gary, it all bombed.
I went their a few years back. When I saw a Madonna and Biggie Smalls display I walked back out. It's like going to a Ferrari museum and seeing a Toyota or Ford. Go tour the USS Cod right by it, you will have a better time.
Big props to the Van Halen brothers, as well as Axl Rose; for shunning this joke of a building. HUGE props to Paul Stanley for ever so eloquently telling the selection committee what a joke their stupid little museum is while standing on it's grand stage, right to their faces, and right in front of the worldwide media.

There is chatter in LA right now that a Van Halen concert is being planned for the Rose Bowl in Pasadena around July 4th, 2022. It would be promoted as the ultimate tribute to Eddie. David and Sammy on vocals, Alex on drums, Michael Anthony on bass, and Wolfie on guitar… If they can work this out, it would be the most appropriate tribute and a true Van Halen concert…Wolfie is an exceptional musician and might be the key that brings this all together….
The judges want people who will perform at it, so lots of rock bands with dozens of years of recording and performing get passed over so people from other types of music *will* perform and sell tickets.
I agree with Gary's statement. Such a class act! I think a second album with Gary on vocals would have been so much greater than the first album with him as the new VH singer. I'm a classic Van Halen fan so I prefer Roth. I maintain a full album of new material with DLR when they released Me Wise Magic would have been a great album. Who cares whether he can sing live or not. I'm not listening to that concert over and over again. I listen to the DLR/VH records over and over again. Van Hagar sold a lot of albums but artistically and musically they couldn’t compare to Van Halen. Dave and Eddie may have had issues but somehow they brought out the best in each other. And that’s a fact.
The Rock of Shame is a joke... whoever does the voting or makes the choices for hall induction have no idea what ROCK is. I'm sure I'm not alone with this thinking!!!
I don't understand why Dave Mustaine hasn't been inducted. A 40 year career, Megadeth being the biggest metal band under Metallica as far as commercial success. Millions of records sold including a musical masterpieces that has stood the test of time. I don't get it. Obviously, it's personal. Dave burned a few bridges when he was younger. But, he still deserves recognition from the music world.
Lars said it was because Dave never played on an album with them, so if they let him in, they'd have to induct Ron McGovney, Lloyd Grant, Brad Parker aka Damien Phillips, and Bob Rock, who all played a show with them or appeared on an album with them.
Van Halen kind of overshadowed that awesome press release from the Sex Pistols. They told the whole Rock Hall and music industry elites to go piss off, that was classic!

Although he was a very private person, he had tongue cancer as most of the world knows. That would be squamous cell carcinoma. And as many people in the world now, even in remission sometimes cancer comes back doesn’t it. In his case it did come back years later. And then it spread as cancer is known to do. Stage one cancer is typically just local. Stage two: it spreads to the lymph nodes nearby. stage three: it spreads to the organs nearby and finally and most tragically and hopelessly, stage four: it spreads somewhere totally far away from where it originated from i.e. to the brain to the spinal cord etc. the fancy word for spread as many of your viewers may know from their loved ones is “metastasis.” As a doc, I felt compelled to share this not only with you but with your viewers, and I believe that it is no surprise why early detection is so extremely important. The reason the Eddie got to live that long is because he had it detected early and controlled early. Most people don’t. By the time they find out it’s way too late and if they had just taken the time to get that physical or to go to the doctor or an Eddie’s case to go to the dentist at least once a year it could have been caught but when it gets so bad there’s no saving it. And that is the reason that Eddie was able to survive for 10 to 15 years- because he was responsible enough to have it detected early and sort out the treatment necessary. Otherwise he likely wouldn’t have lasted 10 to 15 months. So he was very smart and all of us should be. all it takes is a simple visit to the doctor AND the dentist *at least* once a year. That could save your life. And it could save 15 years of your life. It did for Eddie. And thank god for that. I love that human being so much and I am grateful that he got 15 years longer on this earth to entertain us all- and why? Because he went to the dentist at least once a year, and they were able to detect and treat him. I am a diehard Eddie fan and I think that if there is anything I can do myself personally especially as a doctor it would be to share this vital information with the world as I do with all my patients because it is so very important. Go to your physician AND your dentist at LEAST once a year- It can be life saving. And your life is worth a whole heck of a lot more than whatever that copay or even $100 office visit fee etc. Your life is way more valuable than that, and I am sure anyone reading this has people who love and need them in their life. So please. Think of Eddie. Think of the fact that he had 15 years to live post-cancer diagnosis, that he would not have had if he had not been on top of his yearly check ups. I appreciate your love for rock and believe me I do too but I love Eddie Van Halen enough to know that I don’t think he would appreciate people saying things about his death that were false and untrue as he was a very private person. It also makes me discredit anything else that you may say. So from now on and next time maybe just stick to the things that you know and if you’re unsure don’t say it.
Gary Cherone should be inducted. That's not his fail of bad quality VHIII. If you throw out best song of album (i mean "that's why i love you") and replace it for...agh. Gary has to be with them. At least because he didn't quarrel with anyone.
Wolfie’s right. Van Halen’s over & Dave retired. There’s no Beatles without John & George. We go on without them now - not grieving, but celebrating that we lived in that amazing, innocent, wild time. Today kids wear masks and look down at the degeneracy in their cel phones, while we looked up at Eddie on that stage playing those massive riffs & mind-blowing solos. All things must pass, and we had a great thing for a long time.
He's right, no Van Halen as we knew it, but...I can't begrudge the various members the chance to make their living based on their past. There was a LOT of talent in the band(s) in addition to Eddie. They won't call it VanHalen but the fans will know. And no, I have no clue as to whom they could hire as guitarist.
Says volumes about the attitudes of band bums, having been one at the bottom of the scale, being mostly fools and just all around bad people. From drugs to infidelity, my wife ran off with the bass player, THE BASS PLAYER, yes it's true... That just getting one together takes monumental patients, many levels of self torture, and a hell of a lot of luck! I'm amazed music ever gets made.... Great video, thanks!

True, but I think Sammy's response to it was equally so, as it is an honest fact. Every VH fan knows Dave and Sammy, but millions have never even heard of Gary. His exclusion from the induction was right and just, and they both honorably acknowledged that reality. Props to them both.

What "non-profit orgs" are these fees going to? A charity of the artist's choice? It is all very odd...
That said, induction into the museum definitely has its benefits, which is why Steve Miller, despite his criticism, ultimately decided to show up. Who still misses Eddie in 2021?
The farther I get away from the 80's the more I realize it was the last great decade of the USA that we'll never see again.
I don't disagree with this, but the 90s were really good, too. Then again, that was the decade of my twenties, so of course I'm biased.
I don't miss him at all. All the good VH music you can hear recorded, and he wasn't going to release anything good anymore
i still miss the greatest guitarist ever his name was Jimi Hendrix you may of heard of him he died in 1970 i was 13
CIA selling crack, Reagan refuses to sign treaty to ban nuclear weapons, surreptitious war with Granada, death of American unions...good times... good times. 😑
Well I didn’t know him personally. And he hadn’t been as much of a relevant presence on my radar in the last 25 years ….So, no. I don’t miss him.
Micheal Anthony didnt leave the band. He was fired and he only found out he was fired when the reunion with Roth was announced
they shouldn't call it the rock and roll hall of fame when two of the main inductees this year were Jay-Z and LL COOL J.
Damn straight
Gary from extreme is a class act dude. good on him!
Alex Lifeson had the greatest RRHOF speech of all time.
"blah blah blah"
Blah blah blah...I love that he did that.
I feel like I was with him through the whole story. Truly breathtaking.
Rick Wakeman's was pretty good too.
@@josephgallagher945 I quote Rick Wakeman's to my friends regularly. 😂
Putting rappers & other non rock & roll acts in the hall of fame is like having tofu at a real steakhouse. Its absurd.
Yeah, these legends need the Hall's acceptance to validate their status.
I have been a rabid VH fan since the first album was released in 1978. There are a ton of things I could say but all I really want to say is RIP the incomparable Edward Van Halen. We miss you Eddie.
Sammy slammed Dave but with his statement proved Dave was right all along with Velvet Revolver weren't up for the job to play VH songs.
100% correct!
I would like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame committee to be listed, not anonymous. There are so many bands that should have been inducted a long time ago.
Love Van Halen♥️
Shit the committee is probably full of rappers & pop singers.
Can't have Van Halen without Eddie Van Halen, and you can't have it with him either.
VH without Eddie no! Wolfgang is right, is like Pantera without Dime!
And yet Pantera have already reformed without both Abbott brothers.
"Your anonymous as judges, but your still music industry people." It should be, "You're anonymous as judges, but you're still music industry people." It's a simple check to always get that right.
Induction of Jayz was the final nail in the rock Hall of Fame coffin for me and I would assume I’m not the only one
HOF IS SUCH A BIG JOKE! When you think Jeff Lynne's Electric Light Orchestra (ELO) was inducted only in 2017 it was way too late. HOF has no credibility. From 1972 to 1986, ELO accumulated more combined UK and US Top 40 hits than any other band in the world, and also generated the third most UK and US separate Top 40 hits.
Omg, did Sammy actually say he was in the band for 21 years? Lol. Sam, if you get fired in 1996 and not reunite until 2004, then those 8 years with you out of the band do not count.
Yeah. I was going to say that sounds like bad math.
He was famous for 21 years for his membership in the band.
It's quite clear that Hagar is, in fact, NOT 'something of a mathematician', as he claimed in his autobiography.
Crimany, this reads like a junior high girls’s popularity contrast.
Roth and Eddie were the core of Van Halen.
No kidding?
Paul Stanley and kiss are a novelty band and he knows they didn’t deserve to be there with serious musicians
I already read Hagar's book about this stuff it was a mess from the start
At the very least ⭐....Eddie got to see the induction even though it was televised from rehab. Doesn't seem real that the mighty EVH is gone 😔. Rest easy king Edward 🎤🎸🎶

There is chatter in LA right now that a Van Halen concert is being planned for the Rose Bowl in Pasadena around July 4th, 2022. It would be promoted as the ultimate tribute to Eddie.
David and Sammy on vocals, Alex on drums, Michael Anthony on bass, and Wolfie on guitar…
If they can work this out, it would be the most appropriate tribute and a true Van Halen concert…Wolfie is an exceptional musician and might be the key that brings this all together….
It would have to be with Sammy because DLR just announced his retirement. It also sounds suspiciously like his is not well.
Wolf can't play those solos and I really don't want him to. The whole thing is cringy AF.
Wolfie wouldn’t do that. I feel that you may have just made this up
I'll believe it when I see it.
Dont hold your breath
I’ve followed Van Halen for decades, since 1979 I think, but I’ve never heard of Velvet Revolver.
Bring back “What’s going on my fellow rock n’rollers?”! 🤘🏼
Nothing is less Rock and Roll than an organization that determines what is.
Loved Hagar too and he did a great job and recorded some great songs with Van Halen. Those songs I can listen to over and over again but not necessarily the albums.
Most of all we all miss the king Edward Van Halen!!!
I think everyone who likes Rock and Roll hates the Rock and Roll HOF
If you missed VH live , well you'll never know what you missed.
I know what I was missing after seeing them (with DLR) back in the '80's, my hearing! I swear the next 3 days, I was pretty much deaf.
my mom said they were the loudest band shes ever heard. ears ringing for a few days
@@hank1556 that was any 70-80s rock concerts , the ringing in the ears 🤣
@@cnance1972 I saw literally a concert every weekend for years straight and they were the only band where I literally lost 90% of my ability to hear from more than a day. Now in my late 50's, I definitely have hearing issues, but what a time we had!
Saw them in 2012 and 2015. At the 2015 show, I saw them play Drop Dead Legs and Dirty Movies live for the first time ever. It was the first show of the tour.
this made me love the Pistols all the more. Its funny with alllll the bands and shows I have seen over the years (im 55 and still going ) I never even pay any attention to the R&R HoF does anyone else?? 🤷♂️
Nope
Exactly. Fuck every band in this video except the Sex Pistols. The drama is worse than a 5th grade slumber party.
Sounds to me like DLR didn't refuse anything. Sounds like they didn't want to "play any VH song he wanted" like they claimed. So that was a lie.
I went to the Hagar/Roth concert in Charlotte NC and it was pretty great. Sammy & David took turns opening at each venue. David Lee really rocked the house but Sammy blew the house down! OMG I got so hammered drinking those giant 3000oz pavilion beers! 😂
I saw it and thought Roth pretty much sucked. Agree with you on Sammy though. I actually saw the show in Devore, CA near Sammy's hometown of Fontana so he had home field advantage. Devore was where the 83 US Festival was held coincidentally. I was at that also (yes, I'm getting up there) and after a full day of music and partying, Van Halen, who were closing, took forever to come onstage and when they did Roth was hammered. He sucked! The rest of the guys were great but we couldn't take Roth and left (to beat the traffic) haha. Such an LA thing. The full show from that is up on TH-cam now so I can see what we missed.
Got to say I never liked velvet revolver or stone temple pilots I agree however putting them in a position to play a van halen song with no Eddie wasn’t right
Damn! STP were badass!
@@michaelharrington75 not for me man I was never into alt rock for a start so STP never peaked to me
@@joehobbs3277 tbh STP’s lyrics left a lot to be desired, write two or three lines then repeat them for the next 3 minutes, also some tried to put them in the same box as better grunge bands, but they had no depth to their song writing. Not to mention Weiland IMO sounded to my ear like a discount Eddie Vedder 🤷🏻♂️
The disaster was VR's "performance". Yeah Van Halen guitar parts can be very difficult... but they picked one of the easiest ones to play ("Ain't Talking 'Bout Love") and Slash butchered the intro and Weiland was a joke. But at least you could recognize that song. Their "version" of Runaround was truly insulting.
It was actually a good cover. The Eddie fanboys always get so butt hurt when they don't hear his "gimmicks" that wear off in 10 seconds of listening.
RRHOH inducted LL Cool J and JayZ and not Boston, Maiden, Megadeth, Nugent, Pantera, Crue, Foreigner, Billy Idol, Slayer, Bad Brains, Black Flag, Descendents, Bad Company, Willie Nelson, and they were even inducted before Priest was.
It’s a disgrace
EVH was a great guitarist and massively influential, just loved VH early stuff up to Diver Down. Unfortunately EVH and his brother Alex were just awful people which is a real shame. I only hope EVH found the peace he never could in life. RIP EVH.
Ted what do you mean about Eddie & Alex being awful? I just don't know that much about that band. Was it do to drugs & alcohol?
@@catnipsmile I have some FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE about the "GREAT VAN HALEN".

@@rayjingloryproductions3770 Damn! I never knew that. That's to bad he was an ass to you. Jekyll & Hyde. Yea, there's shit coming out about the treatment of Mike Anthony. Mike, like you, didn't deserve that kind of treatment.
So many bands swap out members. How can you have Styx w/o Dennis DeYoung? Or KISS w/o Ace Frehley? But apparently.... you can. How can you have Queen w/o Freddie Mercury? Apparently.... you can. If.... the PRICE IS RIGHT!
Yes continued without Jon Anderson. Yet, many defend the band as it is, saying if you can't accept them as they are now, you're not a true fan. So watch what you say about a band that has absolutely no original members, especially their best singer!
Sid, you need to do one on Gilby Clarke’s first band Candy...’Whatever Happened To Fun’ is an amazing album. Thanks.
Yeah! Also about Gilby, "Cure Me or Kill Me" is one of the best singles of the 90s released by a GNR member.
THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME has really began to piss me off when they started to induct RAP ARTISTS into
THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME !!! WTF AND WHY ???
Agreed
johnny rottens footnote is much more interesting than anything hagar has ever done.
It's been a great ride Van Halen , Thanks and God Bless !
I watched their induction recently, being none the wiser, and I have to admit, the optics of the entire then current lineup being notably absent while recent defunct members represented the band looked terrible and was unsightly to say the least. Thanks for the background scoop.
I can relate to the social skills and drinking but I seem the opposite of most people, I was a heavy drinker in my younger days but when I realized I had to get blasted to even go out on the town with my childhood friends it kinda woke me up and the fun I thought I was having wasn't fun at all anymore so I just stopped drinking and over the last 25 or 30 years I might drink one every 4 or 5 years before bed to help me get sleepy.
Van Hagar sold a lot of albums but artistically and musically they couldn’t compare to Van Halen. Dave and Eddie may have had issues but somehow they brought out the best in each other. And that’s a fact.
Is it just me or does David Lee Roth in the later years resemble Dr. Smith from Lost In Space?😂😂😂
Mr. Furley
The Rock of Shame is a joke... whoever does the voting or makes the choices for hall induction have no idea what ROCK is. I'm sure I'm not alone with this thinking!!!
Nothing but nice, joyful, friendly cleanshaven and good looking chaps... Really.

I've heard other inductees complain about this.
All Hall of Fames are just bullshit anyway. They don't mean anything, just like Grammys and those other award shows.
Some of these Rockstars have such petty drama going on in their lives..
Van Halen kind of overshadowed that awesome press release from the Sex Pistols. They told the whole Rock Hall and music industry elites to go piss off, that was classic!
Rock And Roll hall of fame should just change their name to The American Music Hall Of Fame, since they hardly induct rock and roll acts anymore.
I can't stand Ted Nugent's politics nor his personality, but there's no doubt in my mind he belongs in the HOF, mostly because he was the king of the mountain in the 1970s when I was a kid. I can't believe how many times I heard Stranglehold on the radio. His Double Live Gonzo record is a top live album of all time, and EVERYONE owned it. Foreigner also TOTALLY belong there. You're not telling me Boston I is not in the HOF? That can't be possible! YOU ARE RIGHT! How can the biggest album of the 1970s not get the band in the HOF! Brad Delp - one of the craziest vocal talents in rock music ever - not in the HOF! More than A Feeling - not in the HOF! Insanity. TOm Sholz was not just a great guitarist, but also invented mass-produced gear. Cmon!
Judas Priest not being in the HOF - CRIMINAL OVERSIGHT! I MEAN CMON! and JETHRO TULL!
I really respect that. I can't stand liberal politics but would never would never be opposed to an introduction because musicians politics are different than mine, good tunes is good tunes. Ted is am idiot I'll say it but you can't deny how great he is and deserves that recognition.

Man I loved Velvet Revolver! David Lee Roth was the best front man in Rock n Roll …in my lifetime.
😳
The bass player! now thats just downright evil of her!
