    Awesome! I would definitely buy the rear discharge. I like the way it just laid the grass down, plus the way it looks afterwards.

    This is my 12th season using a 727K front deck Grasshopper. They are great mowers. For better disbursement of the grass using a side discharge deck, remove the black deflector. The downside of doing this though you will experience more blow back of grass especially if it’s windy. Great video. Thanks for taking the time to share your projects with everyone.

    You forgot (unless i missed it) to mention that when going around things you don't have to go a certain direction past them to either keep the clippings out, or keep from hitting the chute on things.
    My parents had a Toro Wheel Horse with a rear discharge deck when i was growing up and that was always my favorite thing about it, direction didn't matter.
    Great video as always, thanks!

    As a person living in the south, mowing every week was mandatory because the grass would quickly grow and cover all the cars we had up on cinder blocks. Side discharge was a disaster because the discharged grass would smother the grass it landed on, and soon the whole lawn was covered in dead clippings six inches deep. Ended up with a Craftsman rear-bagging push mower and wow was that thing amazing. The bagger kept it neat and clean and it fit exactly into those paper leaf bags. Used a lot of bags every week but it did such a clean job, my lawn actually won an award. Ha. No longer own a house. I live in an apartment and they pay people to mow. Every time I smell that fresh-cut grass aroma, I get the urge to go mow. I miss that chore.

    Pretty sure if they changed the layout and pattern of the blades (and discharge) a rear discharge could mulch up the grass as well as a side with 3-4 blades. Plus, with 4 blades as an option you could get a REALLY nice wide cutting pattern.

    I like the idea of a rear discharge, I hate dealing with the Win-rows and always trying to worry about where my grass is going to spray. I know on a lot of zero turn rear discharges. What you get is a bunch of grass piling up on the mechanicals underneath your mower itself, just a lot dirtier on your drives and chassis. I’ve got a blower for that and I blow it all off anyway. I think I would like it. With my side discharge I get Winrows still they’re just to one side instead. lol
    I’m also guessing that the rear discharge would probably be a little more forgiving when you have to mow wet grass. It would be interesting to see. I think I need one of each

I've been in the landscaping industry for 20 years and I'm curious if you have tried the xblades kit or meg mo system or the oregon g5 and g6 gator blades or the copperhead gator blades to help with all the discharge? @rushapelto7072 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @TKCL it will be an apple to an orange once you do with the gator blades. I found out that the oregon have alot of lift even on wet grass after its rained and produces a clean cut. The copperhead does the same thing but not much lift if you have to double cut to get the clups out so thoes shine for leaves. Yes the meg mow is expensive but I found out its less metal to swing around on the pulleys then the xblades kit and it really does what it says as long as u sharpen the knives as they call them... your your scenario if you cut your fields every time I'd sharpen bi weekly

    Thanks for the episode. Does grasshopper make a mulching deck with no discharge port where all of the clippings get continuously cut by each blade? It requires a different lifting blade and more consistent cutting intervals to not let the grass get as tall but provides much smaller mulchable clippings that are almost impossible to see day after mowing. My JD midmount tractor has a mulching deck that I absolutely love!

    Also, what you're saying around the 17m mark about the overlapping grass gets even worse when you do a standard clockwise pattern. It sucks because with a side discharge, you can't go counter-clockwise or you'll plaster a customer's house, pool, pond, driveway, or even them (if they're outside) with grass if you do, so you HAVE to go clockwise, which makes the cut toward the end get worse as you have to mulch everything up for the 50th time.
    I really like the concept of rear discharge, and I think it should be done on 2 and 4 blade decks, the most. With the 4-bladers, you could have a wide 75-80 inch cut AND at least one level of mulching if you have all the blades alternating their counter rotation with a roughly 20-30 inch wide discharge pattern between the wheels. On a 2-blade deck, you could just have them counter-rotate towards the center in that same width of pattern and kinda get maybe a touch of mulching for any clippings that fail to exit.
    Also, nothing's stopping you from getting a spacer and running 2 blades per shaft, one with gator teeth and the other with a standard lifting edge (or a super lifting edge), too.

    • @TKCL
      @TKCL  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes it's not possible to cut in the same direction, but sometimes it is. If it's often a problem, rear discharge is the way to go for sure.
