What an absolute BOSS of a machine! My wife and I recently purchased 42 acres in Arkansas that has about 18 acres of pasture and I think this is what I need in my arsenal. Thanks for the demo! Leo
It's an amazing machine! The build quality and ride is second to none. I highly suggest finding your local dealer and taking a test drive, you won't be disappointed.
I used to do that with my push mower. Raising it up and chumping down on brush. Very hard work, very hard on the lawn mower. And that was back in the day
@@TKCLthey are not that bad $5/7k and properly maintained they will last decades, we have a field flail that is 25 + yard old and still mows ditch rows around our 9500 acre farms so that’s cheap cost of ownership.

That flail is a Beast. Nvr bogged down the mower. I’m impressed. Glad you’re sharing these products. Capabilities to be game changers for ppl like us with a good amount of property to keep up.
Thank you so much for this video... I've been looking for a video like this for about a month and this was right on time, as I am looking at the 900 with the 40hp and the flail head.... Thankx again
That sounds like a beast of a setup. I have the 40hp Vanguard on a boat and it's very powerful! Let me know if you get it, I'm very curious about the big gas engine.
That was pretty danged impressive! The assortment of attachments available for the GH is amazing. If a person were flush with bucks you could sure make a lot of jobs easy and enjoyable.
Wow, Andrew! You are going to have so much fun with this piece of equipment! I am excited to watch you put it through its paces. Congratulations, Young Man.
We have the same Peruzzo flail mower on our Grasshopper 725D mower. Beautiful cut and stripes better than the original deck. This is our 2nd season using the flail mower. Quite expensive - $6500 2 years ago. Can't get very close to fences due to the belt guard on the left side of the mower, so this is a drawback. We have the Y blade flails, may go to the hammers at some future point. Neither the Y blades or the hammers are cheap, somewhere in the $700 range.
I was wondering if hammers were available. Good to know they are. I only have the hammer flail type for my compact tractor and like the hydraulic sideshift feature for fences and ditches. Not having that on the GH might be a dealbreaker for me.
We have a similar setup on a different power unit for making and maintaining trails on a large timber property we use for all types of recreation, we added a sickle bar cutter hydraulically driven separate from the flail that can be placed on the pusher bar upfront to pre cut tall brush before it goes through the flail. We can also mount that sickle to one side in a vertical orientation to cut brush encroaching higher up into the trails. Those zero turns with large diesel engines and hydraulic systems can do so much more than mow grass . They make excellent spraying platforms also..
My Son was just given a Grasshopper mower with a Kubota Diesel in it. It's not a Flail Mower and does have several Issues but it was Free and the engine runs great....and for the price ($FREE.99, LOL), I think he has plans on taking the mower deck off of it and putting a Push Blade on the front.
I know these specialty mowers are way too much. Just because they throw words like professional and mil-spec at it, and consumerists eat it all up. You can get a brand new bestco with 1 lb duckfoot blades and an older Kubota that'll also do other landscaping chores if you're thrifty with you're purchases you could get a whole set up going for anywhere between the cost of this flail and the ZT.
@horseblinderson4747 you can also get a used $3000 honda civic or a $100,000 sports car. At the end of the day it's no one's business but the person who worked for the money and spent it as they wish. Same goes for so many other things in life.
I see one of those in your future. Andrew. You can reclaim brushy perimeters more and more at every pass and it mulches it so that's a good tool to have
I salivated over one of these for years. I love a flail deck. Had one for my tractor, and one for my Toro Groundsmaster. I bought a 930D with plans to purchase this deck for it... but the power unit is a death sentence on my property. Now I have a Ventrac, but really wish Peruzzo would make a 72" deck for it. Ventrac's deck is good... but I prefer the versatility of Peruzzo decks.
Kool machine. Your friend should show the dealer your video, get a big discount or dealership for the products they make or sell. Hey a free rental with a new video sounds great too.
The mower demonstrated has Grass Flails, the Brush Flails are vastly different and much more heavily built. While Grass Flails will work on light brush they will dull much more quickly.
Some great people at Iowa Farm,, I bought my flail for my tractor from them! Does the Grasshopper pick it up vertical for maintenance like it does the rotary cutters?
That's great to hear. The Grasshopper only lifts this deck a few inches with the hydraulic lift, you will have to get creative on how to lift it for blade service.
I’m with you on being addicted to equipment. Even if I didn’t need it if I won the lottery, I would have to build a 50 x 100 building just to park all my toys. I love your mower. I want to get a vent track. I think everybody needs at least three tractors, of course, motorcycles and ATVs and ATVs excavators, skid steers, for some reason I want to Telehandler😂. I don’t really need it, but you know for fun and “just in case”😂
I don’t know if it’s my speaker or what… but it sounds like when you say “tractor”…. It comes out sounding like “ trat ter “. I thought only us Texans talked with a weird accent. Glad to see those Floridians are getting their own version of English. 😂
You sound like a guy who just put something on his wish list. Might wait longer to get to it bc of the new Bobcat and attachments for the Bobcat to get the most out of it, but it is on the wish list.
Is there any reason to not just buy a grasshopper and use this flail head exclusively for both mowing the yard and cleaning up brush? Why ever switch back?
You can yes, but you'll never get as good of cut quality with a flail as you do with a mower deck. It just depends on the grass cut quality you are looking for.
The problem with a mower like that is it makes your yard bigger, you just can't stop mowing stuff down going deeper and deeper into stuff the old mower can't cut, next thing you know the yard gets bigger. Then you got to mow more stuff. 5 years ago I bought a used John Deere front mount mower from a golf course I started out with 4 acres of grass to mow and by the 2nd cut with the front mount I gained another 2 acres of grass to mow
That I don't know. You would need to reach out to Iowa Farm Equipment and ask. They import the mower and also sell Grasshopper. I'm certain that they would know the suitable combos. I found their website to the flail and put it in the video description.
I'd be willing to sell mine for $24K. It's got the Peruzzo 63" flail with the hardened hammers also. It also comes with 61" finish deck, 15B hydraulic dump, and the dual wheel tail kit. It's a 930D pre emission engine in it, too. Only 274 hrs on it. Runs like a champ and more power than you need. And I'll deliver it to your front door if anyone wants it. And it's a good price. I've got about $30K into it.
The Grasshopper is a very impressive machine but i believe the ventrac is a much more versatile machine and i know the Ventrac is more $$$$. Great video and stay safe. You said more than 1 time you was cutting to low and the adjustment to raise looked very simple so why not adjust the Cutting height when you first said it was cutting to low.🤔🤷♂️
You've skipped the biggest advantage of the flail mower, safety, they are designed to not throw debris or material if they should hit an object, such as a rock, the knives will pivot and fold if they hit a rock rather than act like a sling shot and launch it.

why not get a tractor and install a finish mower that's like 10 feet wide for that field
