One of the most lethal forwards in the history of field hockey, Shahbaz Sr. is undoubtedly Pakistan's pride and in the same league as Hassan Sardar (Pak), Rick Charlesworth (Aus), Stefan Blöcher (Ger), Floris Jan Bovelander (Hol) and Ties Kruize (Hol). All the best wishes Shahaz Sr., Fareed Ashraf Chaudhry.
Blöcher was an incredible player. Include just one player in ur list Sean Kerly who single handedly won the 1988 Seoul Olympics Gold for Britain . Shahbaz was still the best.
@@drsmart0078 I put Bovelander in the list not because of his dribbling skills, but because of his goal scoring prowess as a penalty corner expert. High conversion rate! Kerly was indeed instrumental in the Seoul Olympics however I have not seen many fearing him for his phenomenal ability to penetrate opposition defence. For me hockey is a beautiful game of art and skill, not just straight, quick passes and bam! Goal. I have not seen Major Dhayan Chand play but heard ye was a class act too. Grass hockey had different dynamics though.

Hockey, along with squash and snooker in Pakistan have been destroyed by over obsession with cricket. In hockey, Pak won 3 or 4 world cups, as many Olympics and champions trophy and so many other tournaments. V won just a single cricket WC and that too by sheer stroke of luck to be honest and later in the tournament thru IK’s leadership skills, but all awards, prizes, praises are bestowed upon cricketers and hockey players get nothing, not even the cash awards promised to them. Pak hockey team that won the ‘94 WC and the teams which one the WCs / Olympics before were all way better than the cricket team which won the ‘92 WC. Shahbaz senior led the team from the front truly, to glory many times and is a true legend and what a humble guy he is, attributes everything to Allah. Hats off to u Shahbaz Ahmed.
