We didn't see Pakistan in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.They used to be one of the top sides in international hockey between 1990 and 2010.But after sudden retirement of their star player Sohail Abbas who was once leading goal scorer in international hockey, their performances have went down. They started losing everywhere.
My mom, uncle used to tell that pakistan and even india used to be monsters at hockey during 70s to early 90s. Very sad it changed to a cricketing nation after 90s. Atleast there is slight change in situation now due to social media. Love from India💛💛

It was 1994 & I was very young but I remember every single moment of this match. For me, it's the most memorable & exciting hockey match ever, the likes of which could only be parallel with cricket WC 92 final.
In 1994, out of 8 Hockey World Cups, Pakistan had qualified for the Final 6 times and won the World Cup 4 times.
Won Cricket World Cup in 1992 and also Snooker and Squash world champion in 1994.
Junaid Jamshed used to sung songs like Dil Dil Pakistan and Hum Hain Pakistani..........That generation of Pakistan was the Golden Generation and Pride of Pakistan.
Now the young generation feel pride in making Ticktock and cheap publicity.....

Legends of Pakistan Brilliant Match Winning Goal Keeper Mansoor Ahmed Khan (RIP), Best Captain Shahbaz Ahmed, Tahir Zaman, Waseem Feroz were playing to win the World Title. Pakistan beat the World Champion Netherland & won the World Cup. Salute to our Great Hero Mansoor Ahmed Khan Goal Keeper who saved two goals gave match winning performance. In Hocke world cup 2023 they are absent because not qualified this time. Record four time Champians team is out. Aur ye sb isliye hua jbse pakistani players dadhi rakhke mulla hone lge tbhi se wo aik strong team se kmjor team me badal gye yad kriye kisi jmane me Australia West Indies etc jaisi teame cricket me only Pakistani team se drti thi aur kisi se nhin. They also had a great chance in 1990! Kazi Mohib missed a penalty stroke. That destroyed their chances. The team during 1990 was one of the best Pakistan Hockey Team ever. Respect from Bangladesh.
Still remember that day it was thursday I was in class 5th. And a said to my mother that I am not been able to go to school.And when I started watching WC final she use to slap me that why you have not been to school. This video made me nostalgic and emotional.....

Today Pakistan has been ranked 17th in hockey. What an abyss we have fallen into now!!; from No. 1 to 17. Unfortunately no serious effort has been made to revive field hockey in Pakistan. After 1994, downfall of Pakistan hockey started and there is no end to it. Being the youth of 90's, we had a special craze for hockey but new generations did not even know about the glorious past and lengends of Pakistan hockey. Very sad state of affairs!!!!!
I guess Cricket 🏏 has taken the place of Hockey 🏒 now in 🇵🇰. What a team we used to he in Hockey. Legendary Alhamdulillah !!!

In pakistan 1992 world cup final was watched by 30 million ppl and this particular final was watched by 9.5 -10 million ppl on TV sets. And both match were early morning starts. We indians and pakistani don't value core our hockey teams had in those days
