    Bob sounds like a smart guy cleaning the trailer is part of the job. I am a company driver and most drivers ( steering wheel holders ) don’t clean them. But I know you will get it done

    Nothing wrong with $3.00 a mile my friend. Especially adding in the early days of power only. As you know, some don't even break even after their first year. You did alright.

    That first year also reflects new authority vs lack of brokers willing to do business with you, that's out of the way. It also reflects all the Covid bs, most of that's out of the way too.

I just took my drive test for the SPE on my med card to get back in the truck after a spinal cord injury (we talked about it on one of your live's) and I fkn killed it with leg braces! Apparantly truckin really is like riding a bike. Waiting on the feds to send me my certificate now. I also found a job hauling grain with a hopper bottom in Illinois. Onward and upward, my man.

    Like your videos …you said about $23,000. After fuel what about insurance, truck payment,Trailer pymt ,maintenance and money spent on food on the road what to you think you would be at then ?

    In the aviation biz they have this thing called QOL...Quality of Life. It's a big huge factor when, as a pilot or flight attendant, you must decide fi you will take the job and move to Charlotte or Cincy or Orlando etc.... I would say, Sir NIck, that YOUR QOL is quite good for the money you made. So you have to factor in those intangibles in order to measure success. Comprende?

    Thanks for showing your numbers. I don’t know any owner ops personally so I can’t compare or talk business with anyone. Thank you TH-cam guys for the reference point. We are doing about the same. I did a little more than you for the year and you did a little more than me this first quarter, Few thousand. I’m power only. I had a reefer leased last year till August.

    Aaaaaaaa , long time no hear how’s things at the office on 18 wheels ? Any way I just got out of trucking California and Arizona , I’m doing my own thing now at home welding , wood work and some composition materials experimenting , but I’ll tell you this , when I’m not in the shop and alone in my room I miss trucking so much and these videos bring me back to my old livelihood and now it all comes back to me thank you kindly Aaaaaaaaaaaa ;)

      @@pacman4937 lol that's what every drivers says.. to make 100k before taxes, in reality took home less than 75k.. and had to be a slave... i pocketed 130k, had 15 weeks off.. worked 4 days a week and send the irs a check yesterday for 3k 😂😂😂😂.. so no, it's not the same shit

    Your doing good your hustling loads your not doing bad at all let's say this your doing better than the average owner operator is right not an I take it your making your truck and trailer payments on time an if your using a credit card for fuel your staying ahead of the that so your doing very well.     That’s great and all but was was bring home after all expenses like truck and trailer payment,truck and trailer insurance,maintenance,food, showers and taxes. That’s all that matters at the end of the day. I bet you were around 100k bring home.

    I am currently working on my CDL license, and I'm looking to start my career in trucking. Do you think it is unrealistic to believe I can work as a company driver for a year or two and become an owner-operator and be successful/profitable?

    I just watched a program called John Oliver. It’s a comedy program but has a serious note to it. This week it was about the shortcomings of the trucking industry in the US. You should see it. It is HBO but I don’t have that but I saw it on TH-cam. It first aired last sunday

      I'm happy on my own authority but I could imagine a situation where I would lease on to a carrier if I don't grow soon.

      You could lease on some owner ops to your own authority and charge them 10% just for using it. And let them get there own loads and take care of there own equipment

      almost every load you put on your trailer if your hauling brokered freight or even direct for a mid to large volume shipper that use rfp and waterfall tier based pricing is becuase "YOU" were the cheapest truck that was avaliable at the time ...

      I think it's definitely more difficult now than it was last year. The price of equipment and the price of fuel being so high I wouldn't recommend anyone jumping in right now.

      It's alot tougher for guys like me with big equipment payments. My take home is drastically less now than it was 6 months ago.

    The Government knows the longer a driver sits at a dock the worse safety is. When they take 10 hrs to do their job, that makes it unsafe for the driver all away around.

      I don't think so. We are super busy this year with trying to buy a house, a kid graduating high school, and 2 girls in softball. My wife already told me may looks like the busiest month of our lives, lol. Figured I wouldn't try to squeeze a truck showing the middle of all that.

      After paying myself a hefty salary, the business profited 20k last year in 2021. I'm guessing 2022 will be closer to 50k.

      Well considering the low number of miles I drove you'd like to see that rate per mile a little higher. Plus, it was "the good times" most of that year so I should have been banking for the slow times a little more than I did.
      Also, with the price of equipment and fuel I wouldn't be surprised if the new "normal" is a little higher than the old normal.

      lol clown ... your not even breaking even at a $1.40 on paid of equipment between fuel and a reasonable driver pay WITH benfits & retirement will eat all of that 1.40 up and more ... let alone tag / insurance / maintenance and repair on a paid of equipment

    Yet another way to screw drivers over. Yet another reason the Government needs to mandate detention time from minute number one. These places will change their way of doing a lot of things. If not, the drivers will be getting paid for their time anyway. Their really isn't any reason why places can't do like Costco does.
