I'm out on the road for work and tried this with another knorr packet and threw in a few pieces of beef jerky. It turned out pretty good, thank you for the idea!
That is such a neat idea and an excellent idea for a series. It's such a great idea for work and alligator armed types! ;) Also a really obvious (in hindsight) alternate to a pot and cozy, for rehyrdating meals. I am no doubt going to try this. Thank you so much amigo. Stay safe and well in your idyllic lil spot!
I've prepared these Knorr entrees camping by pouring boiling water directly into the pouch, giving it a good thorough stir, fold and clip close the top of the bag and let it sit for 20-30 minutes, while sitting in a bowl. I put the bag in a bowl as a precaution for leaking, but it hasn't happened, yet. Anyway, I've eaten it straight out of the bag. Saves on clean up.
awesome idea. i saw it a few months ago and bought a thermos. tried it today. mine came out perfect after just an hour, but i'll try longer time also to make it probably even better. only one downside i can think of, and it's probably just paranoia, but that little hole in the rubber/plastic cap, i'm not keen on rice steam going into there, because it's a place that's impossible to wash. i don't want any potential "dirt" there. but im probably just overthinking it. and i dont know if all caps for thermos have that little hole
I use Couscous, soup mix, and a can of Tuna All goes in a heated insulated cup Only takes 5 minutes You can use rice noodles, or thin vermicelli noodles, but those take ten minutes!
Yes sir. I live in northern Michigan now. But remember, you can take the boy out of Iowa but you can't take Iowa out of the boy. The jerky filled the roll of margarine/oil. Give this a shot. It's awesome! If you don't like it I'll send you a dollar. :)
I have an insulated bag that I can put a whole chicken in a cast iron DO cover bring to a boil and then put in the bag off heat. It will still be hot 6 hours later and the chicken will be well done. Other dishes work too but the chicken is a good example to use
Yep. It will be. I found out that there are quite a lot of video,s on YT about it. But still it,s good to look into it. When trekking you don,t want to spend to much time and effort in preparing lunch. So, this is a good option.
Look forward to more videos in this thermos cooking series. Gorgeous spot for lunch, thanks for sharing.

Cool video, nice scenery and you're looking good man. Keep it up.
Thanks. I didn't invent Thermos cooking. I'm merely a participant! Watch for new videos.
Cooking while trekking. Brilliant.
What size is the thermos?
Have you tried the same method with pasta?

toto I dont think you are in Iowa anymore. Did you skip the oil or margarine part or did the jerky fill that gap

Thanks for this.
I got a 40 oz. thermos because I want the whole packet. You got a snack.
That,s a great idea. You waited for six hours, now I am curious to learn what te minimum cooking time is.....
I'd almost be willing to bet that it would be fine after a couple hours.
Yep. It will be. I found out that there are quite a lot of video,s on YT about it. But still it,s good to look into it. When trekking you don,t want to spend to much time and effort in preparing lunch. So, this is a good option.
So, is there water left at the bottom? Because obviously it can't boil off like it can on the stove...
Thanks for sharing!
Nope. It gets absorbed. No water left at bottom.
averageiowaguy Awesome! I can't wait to give this a shot!

Or just cook the food like normal then stick it in the thermos and it will stay hot
