I’m stocked up on demijon’s, kilerran, cage bottle and some standard longrow and springbank… plus the make your own but it’s impossible to get the 10 PX and this one unless you pay silly money at auction so no point
Thanks for reviewing Alan, Not seen this one around here...and given my preferences (no wine or sherried whiskies) I do not really look out for it. Happy to leave this for others (luke you) to enjoy. Slàinte mhath
7K! 7K! 7K! Been a while coming, but with fantastic reviews like this one, perhaps that subscription rate will accelerate and “the magical 8K” will be coming sooner. As always, thanks for the indepth review on this gem. Now I have to go mine my sources to see if I can obtain one. Cheers All!
I was really looking forward this bottle i knew it was coming but didnt know when. So i kept checking whiskybase and few german stores to see when it would pop up. I think it was late November when it did show up but all for nothing because it costs 300-600€ easily.. Really bummer how the pricing ruined it.. thankfully i managed to grab hazelburn 15 oloroso 2023 for reasonable price here in inside EU market.
Nice one Alan! I haven't tried this one but the PX was overpowering the Springbank character and I wasn't in love with it. This sounds much more well done. Cheers!
Alan, Congrats on the 7,000 subs!! Sounds like a great bottle. SB does wonders with 10 year whisky. Loving the 10 year Local Barley!! Glad you posted the score!!
Alan - great review! You look quite happy to be sipping that SB 10. Can't find this anywhere and the PX is above $600 a bottle in the US. Crazy money. Cheers!
OMG I did not realize that we knew what all 4 in the series would look like. I think Sean Connery, Michael Caine, Lawrence Olivier and Ryan O'Neil did a movie about actually getting a bottle of this. I love a dry sherry
Great video Alan! Much prefer the Cortado compared to the PX on initial opening. However, a few months afte ropening, goign back to the PX, its much better, can actually get some whisky note sout of it instead of it being just a bottle of high proof sherry!
Cheers buddy, think i am just preferring the pc over the px, its early days...loving this one...thanks for dropping by and ive just dropped your channel a wee sub....cheers fella
One whisky shop in CZ had an anniversary, with some special discount prices on some whiskies, Kilkerran 12yo for instance, and they also set up a challenge - whoever buys a bottle during particular week, and put the certain password into order notes, may win a right to buy (not get) a bottle of Palo Cortado. The draw of a winner was today, and I won. WOW, really looking forward to this one. The price is a bit higher than the retail (about Ł120), but who cares, it´s way better than in the auction.
Brother, i just got this bottle, i paid secondary but I think it’ll be well worth it since I reckon it’ll last me a decade and Palo Cortado is my favorite finish after trying that delicious Palo Cortado from Arran
At least the Springbank Society balloted this one, otherwise unobtainium unless you have a connection or are at the Distillery Shop in on release week.
Would recommend the Glenmorangie Palo Cortado to all PC fans - maybe not a Springbank, but in honesty, how many of us know or will know how a Springbank tastes like :)
Gorgeous Alan, lots of fruit, spice. It's a little hot on occasion but takes water well, numbs the gums but in a nice way. That said I've poured a few now and don't find it a problem. I bought a second bottle off the neck pour, if I can find one in time I'll be putting another one in the back of the cupboard for my old age. I did manage to get a couple of Springbank 10 Palo Cortado's, not opened one up yet but soon will, the other is for the cupboard. @@thewhiskyfriend
Just got mine...it's an interesting whisky. We'll see how it opens but man I'm getting a COMPLETELY different whisky. So much dirty peat, mint, harsh spices. None of that coming up here. Looking forward to a few more sips later this month. For now thinking 85-87. We'll see
lol 300£ for a 10 year old 😂,, I be cheaper getting the ferry to Arran,, having a distillery tour and buying two bottles of the new 17 ,, , it’s a mugs game paying that kind of money for a ten year old
Great review as always.. So frustrating not being able to get hold of it though!
it was the toughest Springbank to date to get a hold of....Got the 30 yo easier than this one....its a belter fella....

i have done a few different palo cortado bottlings now this year so this is a few out there the glenmorangie was solid....
I’m one of the lucky ones who can get a couple bottles of every core release, this one should be along soon… Cheers

Where do you pick up your Springbank’s usually?
Ive drove to the distillery a few times but i really try everywhere that has stock...got lucky a few times in the right place at the right time sir...
@@thewhiskyfriend I went to the distillery last year and managed to pick up a 10 and 15, but they weren’t stocking this bad boy

Alan sounds really good still looking to get a bottle and trying to swap my SB 10 PX for one of these without success. Well done on the 7k
Sounds awesome. Unfortunately, I've all but given up on chasing Springbank. IF you can actually find them, they insanely priced. Such a shame.
i feel your pain my friend....
Hi Alan, what are your thoughts on the Old Perth Palo Cortado 55.8%.
not got round to picking the old perth up....is it worth getting Malcolm?

Is there anywhere that advises of SB release dates? I always seem to be behind the curve
If your a member of the Springbank society they notify you...however that membership is now closed....
@@thewhiskyfriend thanks for the information. Unfortunately I am not. Guess I'll have to hope to get lucky one day!

This has every “Jam” in the book 😂😂❤
so jammy....
Would love to get a bottle of springbank but it's rarer than rocking horse 💩 💩 💩
Retail in the states is $200 😮
@tomfriedrichshain too much money fella...
Still a solid price for a limited Springbank release imo@@thewhiskyfriend
Nope, distinctly average IMHO. I was soooo looming forward to it
My i sure am glad that whisky is subjective because i loved this one....thanks for dropping by and its a real shame that your not loving it...

Looked at the price and even skipped the video.
