    Lee is there any difference in picture quality when it comes to a6300 or a6500

      I’ve never used either but from what I’ve seen and read I think they are basically the same. They both have the same exact sensor.

    Another great video Lee! Way too close in my opinion to pick between the two. Definitely the GH5 for more professional type work, but the 6400 for more talking head stuff because of the auto focus and tracking. Sounds like two great cameras to have! Hope you are doing well and keeping safe brutha!

      Thank you Paul!! Yeah in my opinion you can’t go wrong with either it just depends on what you need it for. Thank you again I hope all is well out there.

    I'd love to use my GH5 more (have a lot of good lenses) but in the end I got to try an expensive Sony (A7R2 I think) could have bought it used (but expensive still - and other lenses) and then I found the ZV-1 - with exactly the same great AF and a really small footprint. So now the ZV1 owns my studio :) in direct comparison, and without considering AF - the GH5 still looks way better - but for convenience and size and confident AF - the Sony wins!

      Yeah I really liked the GH5 but that autofocus was so frustrating but it’s still a great camera. I enjoyed my time with the zv-1 definitely a great little run n gun camera.

    Up to 2023, i find gh5 Is still amazing. I Own ZVE10. Really considering GH5ii. Although sony has FX30.

    Great video Lee! I own also both system and I like more the colours coming out from the Panasonic (S1)....for everything else, the Sony a6400 is fantastic!

      Yeah I agree the colors coming out of the Panasonic are really good n I love the video centric features as well but your right the Sony a6400 does so many things very well.

    Remember the film "When Harry Met Sally"?
    Remember Harry's first impressions of Sally? He said she was a "high maintenance woman sho doesn't think she's high maintenance"
    That's what life with a GH5 is like. You do have to work much harder with it. It's no "point and shoot" system camera.
    So, sometimes, it might go wrong. But, when you nail it, the results are excellent. I like the challenge of it.
    Recently, I've gone back to the 1080P 422 from 4K.
    Yes, a full frame will do better than the GH5 with it's native MFT lenses, but I've had great success with a Metabones 0.64 Speedbooster and a vintage AF Nikkor 50mm F1.4D.
    It's probably not going to do as well as the Sony, but it has expanded my possibilities for night filming.
    Best regards from Stockholm

      I like that analogy it is very true n right right when you nail it the results are amazing. When I had it I did get a speed booster with the sigma 18-35 the results I got with it were amazing.

    What is your serious opinion about its bad autofocus reputation? I've heard a ton of stories, that the new firmware has improved it tenfold, that is hasnt... Is is really that much of a deal. That is the only thing that is truly stopping me from buying it

    • @LeeOFrey
      @LeeOFrey  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My opinion is yes it’s better with all the firmware updates it’s better then any other Panasonic camera I owned in the past. However in my opinion it’s still not on the same level as Sony or canon. I vlogged with it in one of my videos and it worked well it was very useable but when I did talking head stuff I used the app and manual focus because it would still have that hunting/pulsing issue in the background. If autofocus is a big deal for you I’d look elsewhere but it if it’s secondary and you can live with using manual focus in certain situations it’s a great camera with so much versatility and great image quality. I hope this helps.

    Great video and analysis. Please, I would like to buy a camera for a friend hoping to start a media production company. He makes (hopefully) high-quality videos and some documentaries and I was thinking of getting him a camera around a budget of $1200 cad. I came between the choice of GH5 and a6400 and I saw your video. Please, do you think I should get him the Sony a6400 or should I stretch my budget to get him the Panasonic GH5? Thank you.

    • @LeeOFrey
      @LeeOFrey  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you if he’s doing a lot of documentary work I’d go with the Gh5 as it has more options for video and he would have more ability to rig it out if he needs to. If he doesn’t need as many recording options and wants great autofocus and the ability to shoot high quality photos I’d then go with the Sony.

    • @emeralddimus3052
      @emeralddimus3052 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LeeOFrey Thank you for your reply. In fact, the camera will serve my friend primarily for making videos (and possibly short films). This is why I was asking if the a6400 would serve the purpose. The GH5 is a bit on the high side for price and I was wondering if a6400 could be a good alternative. However, if you do not think the a6400 can serve as a cheaper replacement for making videos, which other cameras would you suggest?
      Also, are there any accessories one can buy to reduce the shakiness of the a6400?

    • @LeeOFrey
      @LeeOFrey  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@emeralddimus3052 I gotcha well I loved the a6400 and it produces a great image I said the Gh5 because it provides you with more recording options but if that’s not needed the a6400 can definitely do a great job in my opinion. As far as the shake a gimbal can be used, a stabilizer, tripod. There are stabilized lenses that can be purchased that can help reduce some of those micro jitters. Hopefully some of this information helps.
