    • @Gregorypeckory
      @Gregorypeckory 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Then good news; you can work on the bend for a few weeks and bend as well as Guthrie, maybe not as wide, but most of his (or anyone's) bends are between the range of zero and a whole step, occasionally a minor third, and rarely a major 3rd, but if you take the most useful ones; whole and half steps, then you certainly can do them as well as GG.
      I'm not saying anything about being as good as him overall because obviously that's nearly impossible. I'm just saying don't go overboard with the admiration to the point where you have a mystique built in your mind that every note he plays is always better than your own best sounding note: that's just false and approaching an unhelpful level of hero worship.
      Oops, just noticed how ancient your comments are. Oh well, in case you still feel that way, I'm going to go ahead and let it stay. Just don't complain about how old it is because I don't always check the dates.

      I don’t say this to be a joke, I only say this because I met him after an Aristocrats show in Nashville and we had a good conversation and he was probably the MOST sarcastic person I have ever met! It is just his mixture, mixture of his intelligence and British humor.

    Guthrie is grounded in the classic blues-rock stuff (Hendrix, BB King, Cream, Jeff Beck, SRV, The Beatles). He's got that organic and blues flavor in his playing. That's what sets him apart from his wannabe peers. Most people often go on about the technical and flashy-side of his playing.

    I don't think so. If I recall correctly, he mentioned in another vid that it's a kind of tremolo system in between a traditional Fender style tremolo and a Floyd Rose. So it doesn't have locking tuners, but you can use the tremolo almost as aggressively as you would a Floyd. I saw it on a Guthrie video where he discusses the Charvel model guitar he currently uses.

    I appreciate his humility. I look at him and I look at John Mayer, what a stark contrast.

    His volume pedal might be more effective if it were placed in the effects loop of the amplifier he's plugged into, that way it could induce a true silence..

    So willing to share. An eloquent, humble, virtuoso wizard on electric guitar. Watching his other videos on TH-cam, His (capital intended) playing is so smooth, clean, precise, rapid fire. OMG. The pinnacle.

    Nevermind the fact the he's one of the most well rounded, versatile and talented guitar players on earth, he also sounds like a very intelligent and well spoken man.

    Players that want more subtle modulation with an overdriven sound (in this case, the Wah Rocker and the Chorus), put the drive after those pedals.

    I like how Guthrie describes his music: "We play music with no singing. Essentially, music that not many people like."
