Thank you so much for your comment! I will pin it to other people can see it, Thanks a lot for the information and the recommendations I will gladly go down this rabbit hole
Thank you for your excellent reaction and analysis. Enjoyed every minute of it. Your commentaries are insightful and is helping my untrained ears gain a greater appreciation for this incredibly talented group of ladies. Your effort is greatly appreciated.
Misa, the bassist, said that she didn't remember anything after the 21st song of this concert. She might have had too much stage drink whiskey. By the way, this song was the 22nd of 23 songs.
I can relate haha, So even after being drunk and after so much playing she was still not only on point but amazing, also Saiki I think is the name of the lead vocalist sounded like this is their maybe 4th or 5th song she sounded so great and clean.
Misa, the barefoot assassin on bass. Akane, the Gorilla on drums. Miku, the little pigeon on rhythm and backing vocals. Kanami, The Riff Goddess on lead guitar and does most writing. Saiki, the Ice princess on lead vocals. Love these girls.
Great reaction! Any reactor doing Band Maid gets a like from me, because they deserve the exposure but reactors like yourself who offer informative commentary are worthy of my subscription. These ladies are the real deal… you’ll find that many old school classic rock & metal fans like myself are captivated by Band Maid. They are legit great-not just as a female group, but as a group compared to any group from any era. IMO they compare favorably to the best bands to ever do it… not based on a handful of best songs, but by virtue of the fact that they have so many “best” songs! So many that its crazy. I had the pleasure of seeing them live in D.C. last October and it was one of the best shows I’ve been to in my 56 years of living. Can’t wait to see them again!
You are a really good reactor. A lot of insights. I really enjoyed it. Look forward to hearing more. I recommend Play Live next. It was performed right before this song. Rhythm section really shines. Good observation about the slides. The ladies incorporate slides more than any band I have ever heard.
Thank you so much! Yeah I gotta say I enjoyed every single instrument but the bass (and bassists 😍) was easily the thing that caught most of my attention
Melodic hard rock at its best = BAND-MAID. Your Anime OP/ED Playlist contains the Log Horizon OP "Database" by Man with a Mission. BAND-MAID wrote the Log Horizon Season 3 OP "Different" a must listen.
Yes! people told me already, I haven't watched the 3rd season yet so I didn't know! Gotta start watching it soon, Buy I'll do it probably after i react to the song so i don't spoil it
Misa the bassist is one of the favorites of the fans and her work can´t be buried in the mix. Until before the covid lookdown, the ladies often went to the drummer and make faces in order to force her to lose the pace, always failed.
Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band. Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors from Tokyo University. Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Frequently snacks between songs. MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls. Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).
Wonderful reaction to this amazing band. I love reactions where you can see that the reactor really listens to the music, as you do here. Loved your insightful commentary, and will recommend - if you like progressive - that you check out their latest instrumental track "from now on," posted on their official YT channel. If you continue to explore this band's music, you'll be amazed at its originality and diversity. This is a special band.
Thank you so much for your comment, I'm really glad you enjoyed the reaction. I will for sure keep listening to them I had so much fun. Also will add your recommendation to my list!
Well Velcro, now you've done it. You let The Maidiacs in (I'm one of 'em). OMG, you're going to LOVE this band. Really great insights, particularily for your first exposure to The Maids. Welcome to the asylum! 🕊
You owe your friend a big thank you for turning you on to what many of us think is the best all around rock band on the planet! I’m an old rocker from Texas and have been listening to rock and metal music for 50 years or so. This is the only band that I believe I could cue up their entire catalog, hit play and never feel the need to skip a song. I do prefer their Official Live Videos over the OMVs just because I would rather watch them play than watch some video director’s vision.Enough of my rambling just enjoy and I’ll give you a sub and come along.😎🤘🏻 And oh yeah, Misa Misa Misa!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Like real life cartoon characters that are extremely talented hard rock musicians. That's what I get from their live shows and interviews over the years. This band is awesome.
Oh, you're going to love Band-Maid ... over 120 songs and this is nothing. In my opinion this song is more a fun little song to get the crowd in the mood, they have many many amazing songs, in so many different styles, mostly leaning to hard rock with dashes of metal, pop, jazz, prog, etc, but every song is catchy and almost always has space for the girls to show off. The lead guitar, Kanami is another Mozart ... she does most of the music writing and arrangements (although being the incredible human being and teacher she is, she has encouraged the other girls to contribute more and more, and each of the girls have more than stepped up to her challenge and has turned the band into something special.) The rhythm guitar player is the main lyricist, and she also is a genius. When you finally are able to tear yourself away from the instruments and start paying attention to the lyrics, you will start to understand. Then there's the girls themselves and their onstage and off-stage personalties ... I compare them to the Beatles in that they are not just members of the band that back up the main frontman, no, each of these girls are powerhouses in and of themselves. Each one is an onstage personality able to charm the socks off of every person in the audience whenever they feel like it. The band itself is also something special ... it too has dual personalities (they started doing special 'April Fool's Day' "jokes' for their fans, which ended up more like April Fool's Day presents) after you've done a few more Band-Maid songs, check out 'Band-Maiko' ... then 'Cluppo'', or Band-Maid acoustic ... they never stop surprising!! Each of their albums is a masterpiece, and every one of them improves on the previous album/ep ... I'm 66 and was brought up on hard rock/metal/progressive pop (and worked as a musician playing everything from Irish/scotish fiddle tunes to bluegrass to acoustic jazz to rock, and I've never seen a band that was as consistently impressive as Band-Maid (maybe Queen, but that's about it .. even Zeppelin had a sucky song or two, Band-Maid just doesn't disappoint, even their worst songs are special.
Thank you so much for the information and effort to write all of this! I'm already loving them it's been hard not to listen to any other song since I'm saving them for the reactions
@@VelcroReacts as I'm not a factor I didn't have that restriction, but I discovered them probably the first week when they released their first song on TH-cam (Thrill) late 2014 if I recall correctly, do I've heard all their songs, now, like a great many Band-Maid fans ('maidiacs' we call ourselves, the girls call us 'Masters and Princesses') I live vicariously through people like you who are just discovering this damagingly talented and fun band ... If I sound like a little fan girl, that's what happens to us ... Like I said, I'm 66, brought up in basically the wilderness on cake Breton island of the east cost of Canada. Hunting, fishing, cutting pulp wood ... All the 'big tough guy stuff ... And these girls have turned me into a little fan-girl ... I've accepted my faith, happily :-)
Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
Thank you much for your comment! and the history lesson! Feels awesome to have someone from Japan commenting on one of my videos. On the Jazz obsession as a big fan of The Seatbelts thanks to Cowboy bebop it figures that you guys also have a great Jazz scene.
But the Beatles were nothing ,and are nothing ,compared to the TRULY legendary ROCKABILLY guys who are there, at their sacred stomping ground by the entrance to beautiful Yoyogi Park!!! Nearly every day!---at least every weekend ! Free to see (and maybe contribute a coin to ),rain or shine---best outfits, best hairdos, great (recorded) music . Really, a "sacred " Tokyo institution ! Anyone know if there is anything on TH-cam about them?- ??--they apparently have been going since Elvis's time ....or even before?????? Tokyo couldn't quite be Tokyo without them !
Unexpectedly great reaction! You have specific things to say about what you liked or found interesting, and that makes you interesting. Many reactors have a a whole lot of nothing to say. Or very little of nothing to say. At least the latter is preferable. Keep it up!
When they approached the drummer they’re all making faces trying to get her to mess up because it’s the hardest part of the song for her. It never works
@@Billy333-03 watch Freedom from the same show. This goes in all the time live. They make faces at each looking to break each other. It’s extra cool to see it in person.
Great reaction. Although you claimed you're not a musician, I can tell by your insights that you are in fact a musician. As you explore their extensive discography, I'm sure that you will find it almost impossible to categorize their genre because they are masterful at weaving together elements from so many. With your ear for details you'll also find their songs are so 're-listenable' over and over because of all the intricate details they put in every song, and all the subtle variations they put in from verse to verse. The band's ultimate goal from their inception in 2013 is World Domination and this song is declaring their bold intention and saying "hello" to the world.
I’m an 80s kid raised on metal. Not since Pantera in the 90s has a band captured me like this band. Currently my FAVORITE band in the world and by a LOT. Miku is the rhythm guitar player and she has at least one song per album she sings lead on. She’s great too but Saiki is phenomenal and has matured SO MUCH in the last five or so years. This year is their 10th anniversary tour in Japan and the US.
A few years ago, I remember Saiki saying, "I wish people would say things like that about me" (referring to writer's praising the abilities of Akane and Misa). Today, I don't think that this is an area that causes her a bit of concern. (I have a visual image of Phil Anselmo singing new to Saiki on stage, and there seems to be some instability to the image).
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid!!!😀 You asked for more info - ask and you shall receive 😂 Congratulations on finding the band many of us Masters & Princesses believe is the best on planet earth 🌍 today!! 🔥 Welcome to the Pigeon the Hole that is Band-Maid!! 🕊😂 In fact, your life has just taken a step in an incredibly positive direction by finding Band-Maid! 😀 They are a remarkable collection of five incredible musicians and performers that know few genre limitations and always put a smile on the faces of their audience when performing a “Service”. They have 100+ fantastic songs and should be playing stadiums all over the world, imho. Any one song, as great as it may be, like “Domination” is but the tip of the tip of the tip of a distant gleaming iceberg of excellence! There are a lot of us Masters & Princesses who grew up with bands The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Santana, YES, AC/DC, Metallica, Guns N Roses, The Who, U2 & Rush (etc) who have become Maidiacs because we find many of the same qualities in Band-Maid’s music we found in such giants of the Classic Rock era. As have many younger people from the grunge, alternative, independent and pop-punk eras. Band-Maid members have influences across the music spectrum including Alternative, Classic Rock, Post-Grunge, Metal, Punk, Punk-Pop, Pop, even classical musical training, and the influences of many great Japanese rock bands and pop acts. Yet, Band-Maid succeeds in creating a genre all of their OWN!! Stay with the journey and I’m sure you’ll agree. They have great MV’s, both studio and live, on their official channel. A typical recommendation, as others will say, is to see more of them LIVE playing some older songs next: Check out: - Freedom”- official live video (2016) - “Real Existence” - official live video (2014) - “Onset” - official live video (2017), instrumental magic - “Play” - official live video (2018) The other recommendation is to jump several years forward to some newer songs to see how they’ve developed since then. They’ve grown in every aspect over their years. This band does not stand still!!! They released the new “Unleash” EP on 9/21 and have three recent MVs, including - “Influencer” - official MV - “Unleash!!!!!” - official MV - “From Now On- official MV, more instrumental magic! I think you’ll like them and be blown away by their evolving talents in composition, arrangement, instrumentation, orchestration, playing, performance and all around joy 🤩 Then dozens more songs - everything is good and many are great! Try - “Dice” - official MV - “After Life” - official MV - “Manners” - official MV - “Manners / Black Hole” - official live video - “No God” - official live video (BASS!!) - “Sayonkadori” - official acoustic live video - sublimely beautiful - “Puzzle” - official live / live acoustic - “Daydreaming” - official MV - “Warning” - official MV - “Rinne” - official MV - “Blooming” - official MV - “The Dragon Cries” - official MV (all English lyrics & vocals) Two songs are Anime Theme songs - talk about high ENERGY! - “Sense” - official MV - “Different” - official MV And the essential song to understand the beginning lore of the band, - “THRILL- official MV - went viral, saved the band from being dropped, and started them on their path to world domination!! And it’s happening…they just opened for Guns N Roses on Nov 6th. And played to a sold-out 8,000 seat crowd at the new Tokyo Garden Theater on January 9th! And finish their 2023 touring at 17k seat Yokohama Arena. And yes, they are scheduling US Tour dates right now and already booked to 2 festivals in May ‘23 (Daytona FL & Columbus OH) and will have other Services in May & August. They should come somewhere near you, I’d guess, and you’ll have a blast if you go see them! The list of great songs goes on and on and on…I’d stick to the official videos until you get a fuller understanding and appreciation for the band before diving into the fan videos - the sound quality is lacking on many of them so they’d color your perception of their abilities and performance skills. And know that one thing about this band is that there are the dozens & dozens of songs without videos that are every bit as good, or better, as those that do. Examples to pull up are: - I’ll - Hibana - Corallium - Moratorium - Why, Why, Why - Page - Take Me Higher - Flying High And then there’s their arch enemies “Band-Maiko” 😂 You should watch: - “Secret Maiko Lips” - “Gion-Cho” Band-Maid Members (Simple Version) - [ ] Miku (ME-coo), 31 - Rhythm Guitar, Second Vocals, Founder, Pigeon, Primary Lyricist, Red Flower 🌺 Chief Spokesperson, PO!! - [ ] Misa (ME-sah), 30 - Bass (5-string), Barefoot Assassin, pick/slap/pop/pluck - does she have any limits? - [ ] Akane (AH-kah-nay), 32 - Drums, Gorilla - [ ] Kanami (Kah-NAM-e), 31 - Lead Guitar, Princess, Primary Music Composer, “Mincho”! - [ ] Saiki (Psyche), 28 - Primary Vocalist, The Ice Queen, Quality Control, secondary lyricist, Blue flower 💎 Miku, Saiki, Akane, Misa & Kanami may become your favorite musicians on the planet…🤷🏻♂️🎼🎸🌍 Take care and enjoy the journey!!! 🤘🏼🎼🎸🔥🍺😀✌🏼
@@VelcroReacts You’re welcome! I found myself writing portions of it over and over again in reactor’s comments, so I eventually put it all into a document on my iPhone and now I simply copy and paste it 🤷🏻♂️. I’ll edit it a little as needed but it’s mostly all ready to go. 🤷🏻♂️😂. Several other Maidiacs do the same as we live to share our love for the band and we all have unique perspectives depending on our individual musical backgrounds. I’m older than many of the guys so my perspective and comparisons go back to The Beatles and other 60’s & 70’s music. I kind of quit following new rock in the 90’s when I wasn’t too excited by the grunge era and have enjoyed any band as much as Band-Maid since Rush. I hear a lot of Rush type elements in Band-Maids composition, particularly their more recent works. I hope you keep going on the Band-Maid journey and I’ll definitely come along for the ride! Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🎼😀✌🏼
Best hard Rock band on the planet. Listen to Real Existence live, Freedom live and About Us live stream, they dont have any bad songs and kill it live every time. welcome to The Maidiacs club.
5:52 - It's called "Hengao" ("funny face" in Japanese). Basically the bassist (MISA), 1st Guitar (Kanami) and 2nd Guitar (Miku = pigtails) are surrounding the drummer (Akane) trying to distract her in an attempt to get her to mess up her drumming. They're all so talented that they do this just for fun while performing.
'Ello 'Dere, this is the first part of an information file I post for new reactors to Band-Maid. I have to split it up to get around the ridiculous YT filters. @@VelcroReacts Here is the rest of the information file for you. Band Maid was started in 2013 by Miku Kobato. At the time she had just left the Idol Group, Lil Cumin and she didn't like the type of music she had been performing. She approached her management agency with the idea of making an actual band playing rock music but dressed as maids. She had worked in a Maid Cafe and thought the image of maids playing rockin music would create what she called "The Gap" between what you see and what you hear. The Management company was like Ok, go ahead. Miku then looked around and found Kanami a singer/songwriter who was posting her own videos on the internet. Miku had her agency contact her and Kanami thought the idea was cool and agreed to join. Miku then asked if Kanami knew a drummer who might be interested. Kanami had worked with Akane in the past and there is 2 versions of this, the first is, Kanami literally walked over to Akane's apartment and asked her, the second is Kanami called Akane and asked her. (Akane has said in 2 different interviews that 1: Kanami called her and asked if she could come over and 2: in a second interview Kanami just came over) Akane was actually hesitant as she had worked in an "All Girl Group" before and didn't enjoy it as it wasn't the type of music she wanted to play. After hearing a Demo, Akane was like ok, but was still slightly hesitant because of the "Maid Outfits", but she agreed to give it a try. Akane was asked if she knew a bass player and she had gone to Tokyo School of Music with MISA and had worked a couple of jobs with her. So Misa was contacted and after she heard a demo she was like I like the music, but she also was hesitant about the "Maid Outfits", but she relented and joined in as she really wanted to play the kind of music she heard in the demo. The 3 of them then "Auditioned" for the record company and passed the audition. Now we have the "Core" members. The 4 members worked out some songs provided for them by the record company, and a setlist and they had performed 3 times with just Miku on main vocals. Miku after those performances felt that her voice wasn't powerful enough to really perform the songs she wanted. So she approached her management company again and asked if they had any singers who weren't in other projects. They then auditioned several singers. Miku heard Saiki rehearsing in a room across the hall and asked if she could be auditioned, the record company then had Saiki audition. Saiki was signed to the same management company and had done some work as a backup singer and dancer and was asked if she would be interested in auditioning for this new group which currently had 4 members and she would be the fifth. She had been a member of a group with 8 other people as a backup singer and dancer, and HATED it. So she listened to the demo and thought "Cool" because she liked the music. Now we come to the tricky part. Miku KNEW that if Saiki was told about the "Maid Outfits" she would say NO WAY!, so they didn't tell her. They told her they would have "Cool/cute Clothes"(I've read it translated either way), and she never met Miku until a few days before they had a contracted performance. She wasn't told about the "Maid Outfits" until the day before the performance, and she had considered backing out, but she had signed the contract. (Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well) So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing. She DIDN'T like the apron she wore so it got ditched after the first performance. And you now have the beginnings of the BEST LIVE HARD ROCK BAND in the WORLD! ALL HAIL BAND MAID!!!!! Now that we have the Full band, it was felt that there needed to be a second guitar. Saiki was like, "Not Me, No Way." So Miku said, "I'll do it.", at first that was literally all she did, was hold the guitar and mime playing it, until Akane said, if you are going to hold it, you NEED to learn to play it. And Miku said, "Ok.", and Kanami started to teach Miku how to play. The Ladies released their first album in 2014 "Maid in Japan" which failed to chart, but later after "Thrill" it was reissued and charted to #26 in Japan.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning" On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"... The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited) This became the seminal moment of Band Maid. Because their second album charted at #64, the record company was seriously considering disbanding the Ladies and switching them to other projects. (In fact they had Kanami and Akane work with Mochi to Cheese thinking that when Band Maid cratered they could use them in another band. MISA had also just started working with Mochi to Cheese as well). However about 6 months after the video's release, a Facebook page "JRock Radio" posted the video to their timeline. And the video went viral. Having over a million views in just a few short weeks. The Ladies Twitter page got so many hits they thought their page had been hacked. Their TH-cam channel also started getting more and more subscribers and views to Thrill. Now the ladies knew where their fans wanted them to go. Harder Rock, less pop. And history was Maid. And if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Many of us would be glad to answer them for you.
I started looking for new music on TH-cam about two years ago ! By far the best band i have discovered is Band-Maid =) These ladies are awesome ! The three best live performances i have found are Band-Maid "Real Existence" Official Live / Nightwish "Ghost Love Score" Official Live and Rammstein "Du Hast" Live in Paris ! Thanks for a Great Reaction ✌🤘
Thank you so much! I already reacted to Du Hast live in Paris is up on my channel if you'd like to watch it, also will add those 2 recommendations to my list! Haven't listened to Nightwish since the Tarja era so that sounds interesting.
If this is your first step down, the Japanese music rabbit hole, you're in for quite the ride....Band-Maid is my favorite, but there are so many ! You said you like progressive rock, check out their newest EP. It's a tour deforce of progressive music. ❤️🎙🎸🥁😎🤘
Thank you so much for your comment! Will add your recommendation to my list, It isn't my first step down this rabbit hole, as an avid anime watcher for over a decade now I've listened to a lot through openings and endings, but also been a huge fan of bands like L'arc en Ciel and Malice Mizer.
@VelcroReacts with all respect, getting to know a band & their music Is way different than listening to anime opening & closings. You mentioned 2 bands I've never heard of, but there are 1000s.
Oh yeah, I agree 100% I just meant it in the sense that this is not my first time listening to an artist from Japan. I've listened to LiSA, Flow, Eve, The Seatbelts, Porno Graffitti, Uverworld, Fear and loathing in las Vegas, Ling Tosite Shigure and so many others, but my initial interest in most of this came from anime. Also, I totally recommend you to listen to both L'arc en Ciel and Malice Mizer. L'arc en Ciel is easily the most popular rock band in Japan, Maybe you've heard of the Lead singer Hyde who also has an extremely proficient solo career, and also another super popular band called VAMPS. As for Malice Mizer, I totally get it if you don't know them however they are basically what you would call one of the big four in the visual kei movement/style. Their leader Mana is an extremely well-known personality in Japan he now has another band called Moi Dix Moix since Malice Mizer doesn't exists anymore, also Malice Mizer had GACKT as a lead singer for a while who is another hugely popular singer in Japan.
@@VelcroReacts As you may know, Hyde is currently working with Yoshiki and Sugizo from X Japan, and Miyavi as members of The Last Rockstars, they just did three shows in NY and LA. And the OA there was BAND-MAID!
The smile on your face said it all, welcome to the Maidiacs!! 🤘😁🤘 Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the iceberg and the more you hear from them and get to know them, the more you'll love 'em! Some suggestions: Play, Freedom, Onset (instrumental), Real Existence - all Live, because that's when they really shine! (Best MV's: Blooming, Thrill, From Now On (instrumental), The Non-Fiction Days, Dice, Secret My Lips, Unleash) Thanks!🤘🤩🤘
Since you mentioned pop and prog, the two recs for more Band Maid one might make would be: - Pop-ish: Freedom, from the same concert, much earlier in the set th-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/w-d-xo.html , and - Prog: From now on, released a couple months ago th-cam.com/video/a6ZSvmnkS00/w-d-xo.html But of course, you could just walk backward in their catalog on TH-cam 1 by 1 and no one would hate you for it, and you probably wouldn't hate it either. :) (See also many unlisted songs on their playlists tab, "Unleash" particularly is their latest EP www.youtube.com/@BANDMAID/playlists )
Noticed!, Thought tbh I was not pausing thinking about the copyright but because I was so impressed and had so much to say about how amazing they were.
@@VelcroReacts Don't worry about the pauses. Most of us have seen this video 100+ times. We are here for your thoughts and analysis. Feel free to pause as much as you think is necessary
The huddle around the drums is definitely playful. It started in rehearsals. They make funny faces at Akane to get her to laugh and mess up during the hard part. Not a chance. Once she has locked in to the Backing Tracks she us unshakable. Pretty sure you meant harmonies. It sounded like you said harmonics, which is a resting you finger lightly on a string at the octave, or some other division, when you pick it to get a high tone, or some other picking technique like pinch harmonics. Or it could just be me. I'm a little deaf. But the Closed Captions heard harmonics too, so it's not all me. But the Captions aren't always right. In the lyrics it says, "You see", when she is clearly saying, "Sing!". Though the sound is good, it's only just acceptable by BAND-MAID standards. They have room mics for the crowd interactions which make the mix very ambient, and the bass very unfocused. I think that's only part of it. Because they're so good and play to Kanami's backing tracks, I think people had a hard time believing it was really them playing. If you want to hear what really a really good BAND-MAID LIVE mix sounds like check out , 'Real Existence' LIVE.
@@randymcmillen647 My problem is: If I haven't seen it, how can I forget it? (Sorry, I had to do that one). Love your word play -- I hope that band Maid sees it and decides to use it for a future album. Tell them you'll trade it for a backstage pass. Don't let them buy you off with a Guest Pass. I've gotten a lot of those in the past. Basically, all they give you is free entry and -- if it's a non-reserved seating event -- you get to go in before anyone (even VIPs), plant yourself at the edge of the stage, and get crushed to death for the rest of the evening. Once in a Blue Moon (if you can hang around long enough), the roadies might let you finish off the last of the backstage "feast", so that they don't have to deal with it.
Thank you for your comment! I've been figuring out and playing around with the format. However, I think the idea of making a reaction is that... well you see my reaction to the video and my comments about it. If you want to see the band then you know just go and watch the original video on their channel.
@@VelcroReacts No.Sorry. This is poor work and absence of professionalism deriving directly from servitude to ego rather than care for the result. ,or respect for the artists.
A good live video to start your happy Band-Maid journey! This is the video which I was hooked on😉 As Harman Tapia already commented, Maids were huddling around the drummer, Akane, and making funny faces at her. It is a little game they always play during their live shows. This is the most fun band to watch and listen to on this planet! They have over 100 good or great songs and no bad one! Just pick any video from their official YT channel. You can't go wrong with Band-Maid, PO (P_O)🕊💕 p.s. Since you are interested in listening to the support vocal, Miku, solo song, I suggest you this song: th-cam.com/video/sGzAQigaL14/w-d-xo.html
Thank you so much, for sure will be reacting to more Band-Maid in the upcoming days, also will add that Miku solo song to my list of things I gotta listen
Great song choice, Mr K. I knew it was gonna be "Sayonakidori" cos i recognised the link address with my über Maidiac brain. Plus i've got the link locked on my clipboard.😁

Judith every Good Job with your Infos! Like you do every time! LOL! Greetings from Hamburg
Recent Tokyo Garden one also bro... 🖤
Lol! You got a pinned comment BM4L. 🎉
Welcome to the Band-Maid Pigeon Hole! The journey is long and rewarding! Five pillars of awesomeness!
Thank you so much!
Thanks VR! Welcome to Band-Maid!
Thank you so much for your comment, and for making me feel so welcome into this fanbase.
Thank you so much for your comment and subscription. No surprise that many people of all ages like them, it's a super interesting blend of styles.
Gotta start watching it soon, Buy I'll do it probably after i react to the song so i don't spoil it
They are rock and roll guardian angels and the best hard rock band on this planet🤘Keep an eye on them!!
Thanks a lot, I will for sure!
Misa the bassist is one of the favorites of the fans and her work can´t be buried in the mix.
Until before the covid lookdown, the ladies often went to the drummer and make faces in order to force her to lose the pace, always failed.
Hahaha, so that's what they're doing that's a really cool way to enjoy themselves on stage.
Thank you for reacting to Band-Maid.
Thank you for your comment! More Band-Maid reactions coming for sure so stay tuned if you liked it!
Thank you so much for all the info!
Hahaha, thank you super glad I let you guys in! You've all been awesome to me.
I do prefer their Official Live Videos over the OMVs just because I would rather watch them play than watch some video director’s vision.Enough of my rambling just enjoy and I’ll give you a sub and come along.😎🤘🏻
And oh yeah, Misa Misa Misa!🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thank you so much for your kind words! and YES, MISA MISA MISA!
You won't believe it, but when the band go to the drummer they are making funny faces at each other.
Yes!, People told me that I find it so funny, but also it's great to see them so relaxed and just having fun
THE best Rock band in the galaxy. And beyond.
100% Agree, Right now they are my favorite band by far!
Like real life cartoon characters that are extremely talented hard rock musicians. That's what I get from their live shows and interviews over the years. This band is awesome.
YES! It does feel that way, Thank you for putting in better words than I could 😂
Oh, you're going to love Band-Maid ... over 120 songs and this is nothing. In my opinion this song is more a fun little song to get the crowd in the mood, they have many many amazing songs, in so many different styles, mostly leaning to hard rock with dashes of metal, pop, jazz, prog, etc, but every song is catchy and almost always has space for the girls to show off.
The lead guitar, Kanami is another Mozart ... she does most of the music writing and arrangements (although being the incredible human being and teacher she is, she has encouraged the other girls to contribute more and more, and each of the girls have more than stepped up to her challenge and has turned the band into something special.)
The rhythm guitar player is the main lyricist, and she also is a genius.
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz".
Keep it up!
Thank you so much for your kind words!
When they approached the drummer they’re all making faces trying to get her to mess up because it’s the hardest part of the song for her. It never works
Hahaha now that I know of this I just find it funnier, and yeah I can see she's unfazed by it.
Is it? I didn't know that.I was always wondering what they are talking or doing. now the mystery solved and I love them more.Thank you.
Thank you for your comment! I mean playing like this I'm pretty sure they can achieve that.
Nice! If you really like the drummer's performance, then the song called "Freedom" is a MUST🤘 Happiest drummer on earth🥁😀
I agree! She's having such a blast.
Thank you! I can totally see why you would like them so much.
Welcome to the world of Band-Maid!!!😀
You asked for more info - ask and you shall receive 😂
Congratulations on finding the band many of us Masters & Princesses believe is the best on planet earth 🌍 today!! 🔥
Welcome to the Pigeon the Hole that is Band-Maid!! 🕊😂
In fact, your life has just taken a step in an incredibly positive direction by finding Band-Maid! 😀
They are a remarkable collection of five incredible musicians and performers that know few genre limitations and always put a smile on the faces of their audience when performing a “Service”.
A typical recommendation, as others will say, is to see more of them LIVE playing some older songs next:
Check out:
- Freedom”- official live video (2016)
- “Real Existence” - official live video (2014)
- “Onset” - official live video (2017), instrumental magic
- “Play” - official live video (2018)
The other recommendation is to jump several years forward to some newer songs to see how they’ve developed since then. They’ve grown in every aspect over their years.
This band does not stand still!!!
They released the new “Unleash” EP on 9/21 and have three recent MVs, including
- “Influencer” - official MV
- “Unleash!!!!!” - official MV
- “From Now On- official MV, more instrumental magic!
I think you’ll like them and be blown away by their evolving talents in composition, arrangement, instrumentation, orchestration, playing, performance and all around joy 🤩
Then dozens more songs - everything is good and many are great!
Try
- “Dice” - official MV
- “After Life” - official MV
- “Manners” - official MV
- “Manners / Black Hole” - official live video
- “No God” - official live video (BASS!!)
- “Sayonkadori” - official acoustic live video - sublimely beautiful
- “Puzzle” - official live / live acoustic
- “Daydreaming” - official MV
- “Warning” - official MV
- “Rinne” - official MV
- “Blooming” - official MV
- “The Dragon Cries” - official MV (all English lyrics & vocals)
Two songs are Anime Theme songs - talk about high ENERGY!
- “Sense” - official MV
- “Different” - official MV
And the essential song to understand the beginning lore of the band,
- “THRILL- official MV - went viral, saved the band from being dropped, and started them on their path to world domination!!
Examples to pull up are:
- I’ll
- Hibana
- Corallium
- Moratorium
- Why, Why, Why
- Page
- Take Me Higher
- Flying High
And then there’s their arch enemies “Band-Maiko” 😂 You should watch:
- “Secret Maiko Lips”
- “Gion-Cho”

Take care and rock on 🤘🏼🎼😀✌🏼
Best Progressive Hard Rock band on the Planet - Bar none!
Something tells me that after a couple more songs I'm going to be agreeing 100% with you.
Welcome to the Maidiacs. If you continue down this pigeonhole, you have to prepare your self to become addicted to these rocking goddesses.
Oh, I will continue down it for sure!
Hi Velcro, great reaction. Looking forward to all the coming Band-Maid reactions !
Thank you so much! More upcoming for sure so stay tuned!
After Kanami finishes her last blazing solo, Saiki sings, "Our pulses race together." Indeed! Band-Maid. Domination. Nuff said! Thx, Velcro!
Thank you!
Best hard Rock band on the planet. Listen to Real Existence live, Freedom live and About Us live stream, they dont have any bad songs and kill it live every time. welcome to The Maidiacs club.
Thank you so much! Just reacted to Freedom live from the same concert is up on my channel if you want to watch it!
YES, People have me telling me that, I just find it so cool that they are so relaxed and having so much fun on stage.

(Saiki also had NEVER met Miku until then as well)
So the Ladies, went and did the performance and Saiki really, REALLY liked the crowds reaction and the music they were performing.
Then in 2015 they released "New Beginning"
On New Beginning was the song that changed Band Maid's entire existence. "Thrill"...
The band was getting ready to release their first music video and the choice was between "Love, Passion, Matador" and "Thrill" and the ladies chose Thrill. (Little known fact, Miku helped with the lyrics on Thrill but did not get credited)
This became the seminal moment of Band Maid.
Great reaction. You add value to the song with your insightful opinions. Please continue to check out one of the best rock bands. Subbed.
Thank you so much! Will for sure keep checking them another band-maid video coming tomorrow!
Their mix is pretty good. Easy to pick out the drums and bass. It could be the composition and how the instruments stay within their range.
Yeah especially live, It's really hard to mix Live Audio this good.
I guess Velcro is going to stick to BAND-MAID From Now On then.😏
YES! That's exactly what's going to happen haha.
Nice!

Sehr gut. Merci vielwohl. Beautiful reaction by the way. 👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.
I didn't know! I've heard about it but had no idea that Band-Maid was their opening act, That's awesome.
The smile on your face said it all, welcome to the Maidiacs!! 🤘😁🤘
Believe it or not, that's just the tip of the iceberg and the more you hear from them and get to know them, the more you'll love 'em! Some suggestions: Play, Freedom, Onset (instrumental), Real Existence - all Live, because that's when they really shine! (Best MV's: Blooming, Thrill, From Now On (instrumental), The Non-Fiction Days, Dice, Secret My Lips, Unleash)
Thanks!🤘🤩🤘
Thank you much! I was having such a blast, some of the live ones coming in the following days so stay tuned!
Agree. Once I saw that smile I knew we had another to add to our ranks. We all know that smile.
MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
MISA MISA MISA!!!!!
Great reaction, Maybe for more Misa (bass) try "Dice" official MV or "Influencer" official MV or "Onset official live
Thank you so much! Onset is coming soon! I'll add the other two to my list!
Since you mentioned pop and prog, the two recs for more Band Maid one might make would be:
- Pop-ish: Freedom, from the same concert, much earlier in the set th-cam.com/video/FHpuEqMAcDg/w-d-xo.html , and
- Prog: From now on, released a couple months ago th-cam.com/video/a6ZSvmnkS00/w-d-xo.html
But of course, you could just walk backward in their catalog on TH-cam 1 by 1 and no one would hate you for it, and you probably wouldn't hate it either. :) (See also many unlisted songs on their playlists tab, "Unleash" particularly is their latest EP www.youtube.com/@BANDMAID/playlists )
Thank you so much!, Just reacted to Freedom if you want to watch my reaction is up on my channel!
good DJ!!
Thank you!
To hear Miku ( red rose) listen to "Rock in me". Great song!
👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you for your comment!
Band-Maid don't block reactions, maybe the constant pauses are not needed
Thank you so much for your kind words! Interesting didn't think about the room mics but that makes sense, I will for sure check out real existence!
Love them or find another planet.
100% Agree
No matter what planet you're on, Band Maid will be the best band on it!!!!!
@@randymcmillen647 Universal Domination would be the logical successor to World Domination.
@@bruceveary1758 And don't forget Unseen Universe!
Wrong proportions for a react.
The band is microscopic----because the reacter wants all of the screen !
Wanker 🤘Ӝ⚢Ӝ🏳🌈🦘
PS ... just in case it is not clear - that was not a compliment.
Thank you for your comment! I've been figuring out and playing around with the format. However, I think the idea of making a reaction is that... well you see my reaction to the video and my comments about it. If you want to see the band then you know just go and watch the original video on their channel.
@@VelcroReacts Don't worry lol ... every comment bad or not drives the TH-cam algorithm and I think you are doing just fine *grin* 🤘Ӝ⚢Ӝ🏳🌈🦘
@@VelcroReacts No.Sorry. This is poor work and absence of professionalism deriving directly from servitude to ego rather than care for the result. ,or respect for the artists.
"algorithms" can take care of themselves. like fleas on a robot. @@Sapphos_daughter
A good live video to start your happy Band-Maid journey! This is the video which I was hooked on😉
As Harman Tapia already commented, Maids were huddling around the drummer, Akane, and making funny faces at her. It is a little game they always play during their live shows.
This is the most fun band to watch and listen to on this planet!
They have over 100 good or great songs and no bad one!
Just pick any video from their official YT channel. You can't go wrong with Band-Maid, PO (P_O)🕊💕
