Hey Eager Expat! We’re pensioneers here in your ‘hood from SF,CA this week before Chiang Mai, Phuket. Been to O’Shay’s, Happy Tiger, Sports on 20. Done River Cruise, many Watts, Siams, Cowboy 4:15 . Thx for the Rx’s👍🤛 Lot more to do; this trip and the nxt.
That sounds like a great trip. Hopefully, I'll catch up with you at a meetup. I'll announce in the community forum or I started an email list at eagerexpat@yahoo.com. Shoot me a message and I'll add you to the list. If nothing else, you can see where we go and make a list for next trip.
Thank you for another useful video, Joe. I've been learning a bunch about Bangkok from you and others, considering making the move. I'll be in Bangkok Monday onward for several weeks, maybe I can buy you a drink sometime. -Mark
Hey Mark. I'd like to catch up for a drink, but, I have a family issue brewing in California. I may be on a plane in a few days. Have a great trip. Joe
Glad you’re staying healthy Joe! A few brews to steady the blood pressure and your positive attitude seem to be a knock out combination. Keep up the good work Brother, continued success in 2025🎉💪🙏
Hi, I stayed in that Focus building that you past on the left, right before the double tree for a few months. The Ploencit Center has: A Villa market, Mcdonalds, Starbucks, Tim Hortons, 6 or so restaurants , lawsons pharmacy on the main level and 3-4 independent coffee chains, good place always ice cold. Also it's an office building, a few media-spa and travel agencies as well.
I’ve also had good experiences at BIDH. Like all medical facilities in Thailand they check your blood pressure. If you’ve been partying for a few days and have elevated blood pressure, they will give you a strange look or ask their nurse for approval to proceed.
I did the same, I don't carry dental insurance in US, i just pay in Thailand. Truth Dental Clinic on Chit Lom Road is a good alternative if you like a smaller clinic and its close to the BTS
I'm not sure. That sounds like Chaing Mae weather. It's 3:30am right now. The windows are open and it feels cool and breezy. I just looked it up. It's 71 degrees. It says it may be 31 degrees or 88F today. Still, when the sun goes down, it feels great. I'm all for the cool weather, but it's like a light switch. It's 95 one day, then it's 80 degrees for a month or 6 weeks. Then it's 101f again.
Health insurance is one of my biggest concerns about retirement in Thailand. I checked geo blue, great insurance world wide except for the USA, however, I was quoted about $700 a month with a $10000 deductible. A lot of the standard stuff was covered. Still have a few years to find something.
Yes, insurance is a major expense. I'm grateful for an affordable plan. I made a smaller wage, but had a decent benefit package. That's paying off today.
Im still trying to navigate the chaotic world of medical/dental insurance world post retirement. Those of us from the US that worked for private companies and have our monthly premiums skyrocket after retiring have a rude awakening. The same coverage that cost about $160 per month while employed jumped to $1800 per month after retirement. Switched over to a government HMO plan for only $900 per month but pathetic coverage. I left the US in October and signed up with a popular travel insurance company, but, I've heard that actually getting the coverage is very hit or miss and difficult correspondence from outside the US. Heading back to the US in April for a few weeks to hopefully resolve any issues and figure out the best path forward. I know realize my friends were right when they said governorment jobs were the way to go back in the day.
Good video again 😊
Thank you very much

Yes, you need to keep on eye on the health. I try to swim my laps and walk about 20 miles a week.

Thanks for the tip. I've been in there once or twice. But it's been a few years.
I’ve also had good experiences at BIDH.

Yes, I've had great luck at BIDH.

I do the same. No dental insurance and I’ve been using BIDH for five years.
BIDH is a nice spot. Very professional.
I read it got down to 59 in Bangkok and may be cooler than average through February.

@EagerExpat you are fortunate. I'm almost 58 and plan on retiring at 62. The insurance world may be different then, but I'll find something

I wish you the best with all that. Insurance can be a little tricky.
Insane. What a big difference.
I got a $500/month quote from Cigna Global.
