Tips for taming the basilisk: 1. It doesn't need to be Agro'd to eat the egg. If it has a foundation underneath it, it can't bury, and it'll start to auto agro when it's hungry enough to eat again and will start moving around on its own, then it'll find the egg. 2. You can use eggs from Magmasaurs that are tame and bred. Their eggs work just as good. 3. It won't eat anything if it's health has damage. If it's even slightly hurt, you'll need to wait until it's fully healed to get it to eat it's first egg. You can check it's health if it's not eating and see if it's damaged. Once fully restored, it'll eat. 4. It won't always eat if there are two eggs out at once. If that happens, Sometimes it glitches and needs the egg to be picked up then dropped again to eat normally. 5. If you leave render distance, there is a chance the trap will despawn and the trapped creature can escape. To stop this from happening, have some tamed creature stand somewhere in render and it'll keep the trap from releasing the creature when your character leaves render.

Can confirm that the trap works inversely as well. Placed mine too close to the basilisk so it aggroed while I was inside before I placed the ramps and I could feed it from inside like a shark cage. Kind of scary though.

After trying the method alot of people were raving about (one foundation and shoulder pet). I couldnt get it to work, not only did my shinehorn that i just tamed die, rip. But after it killed it the basilisk stayed above ground and wouldnt eat the egg. So instead i tried your method and built this trap and it worked like a charm! So thank you:)
What me and friends do is tame a light pet and place a foundation over it, then put all your eggs on the foundation and lead a bassy over to it. The bassy will stay aggroed on the foundation because of the light pet and continue eating til it’s tamed :)

It's even easier if you put a lystro covered with a single foundation in front of it, you won't need any other structures. Just sit on something that won't aggro it and dismount occasionally so it'll aggro on you and eat the egg.
Another way more eassier and cheaper way is to put a really small shoulder pet in a foundation on the ground. Then get the basilisk bring it over to the foundation. Let it agro the foundation with the shoulder pet in that foundation. Make sure u place down all the eggs you need. Easy tame 🙏🏻

I think what you should do is you should make a contest where people try to make a trap better than you within a set time, kind of like the rock golem video. This would also help with haters saying they could make a better trap
I've only tried this with the s+ mod but one can also try putting a single metal foundation on top of a shoulder pet so the snake will aggro on it but not kill it.
I do remember the first snake and mouse taming game... not very efficient albeit fun. This one is worthy of the Noobletsopedia under the chapter of legendary traps.

I was about to search for a trap and lucky me P.S. I would recommend using Awesome spyglass, it's faster, better UI and doesn't have to be in your hand to work, aswell as it has advanced functions that can be shown or hiden within the UI that can be simply accessed
Can you pls try too tame a phoenix using:A phoenix,Ember wyvern,flamethrower or the Magmasaur those would be awesome too see if it works and considering the high damage output of the magmasaur and the damage increasing effect on the ember wyvern this could be amazingly fast the phoenix and flamethrower one are kinda irrelevant but i was curious XD

Pro tip now you can pick up basilisk and feed him with eggs (you can use rhynio to pick him up and stay in air)

It always spooks me when they are not completely in the trap with like the tail or head outside of it. I get jumpy. xD
