Someone get him a glass of water
Why?
***** he looks very thirsty.
Frank Grimes I keep thinking that it's the recording that's making that popping noise... come to find out, it's him. Did they not offer water or at least whiskey?
Yes. The man has cottonmouth, to be sure. I'm sure he smoked a big fat one before the interview.
SD Hussey it could be popping candy?
This was when MTV actually meant something .
That and Vanessa
MTV was saturated with homosexuals.
I met Jeff in a pub in Birmingham about five years ago whilst he was doing some stuff with another band.. amazing guy, had a lovely chat with him and at the end of the night he came over and shook my and my friends hand wished us a good night. top bloke. CARCASS \M/
With Grind Death Metal Band Brujería
Fucking dope bro
He reminds me of red dwarf lol
They were actually in an episode of red dwarf
man, I love jeff walker. self-deprecating, but also kind of arrogantly confident. His live banter is funny too
His live banter always reminds me of John Lennon
Man, I am in love with Bill Steer!!!!! Just met him the other day and he made sure to give me a guitar pick...he blows my mind. Love Carcass!
I’m late to the party here, but what I really love about Carcass is their lack of fear of evolving. Every album shows a different representation of where they were at in terms of creativity and inspiration. Their unwillingness to shoehorn themselves into the constraints of a genre really gave them an unbridled sense of songwriting and arrangement, and I really respect that. Glad to see they’re at it again with some new music.
Rubbish
@dimebagvision3221but they did It badly lol
"...A classic band that was too overlooked." That was an accurate prediction.
"these pretzels, are making, me, thirsty"
hahahaha
Seinfeld is still a great show
Get Jeff some water. Awesome guy, awesome band!
I like that Carcass lyrics never had swear words in them.
Wow shes gorgeous!
BOBBYGITRPLYR I know right
Agreed! Vanessa is/was a total babe!
yeah but sadly she aged like milk out of the fridge. Do a quick google search "Vanessa Warwick"
yeah Vanessa isn't too bad either :D
@@Maniahg Wow,. people age over time. Quite a discovery you made there bub. Maybe she should have got surgery so you could bitch about that too.
Somebody get this guy a glass of water, holy shit.
Necroticism is my favourite Carcass album.
No argument there. Without a shadow of a doubt their best, haven't even thought about changing my mind in almost 10 years
I agree although swansong was a really good Catchy album with some really groovey tracks
@@bigmatt1994 It was so out of the field though, but I do dig Swansong. Black star is probably my fav on it. On point saying it is groovy, but I wish they would go back to their "Necrotic" ways lol. It seems they adopted to stay the melodic path of Heartwork, rather than the brutality of their earlier work, or the crispness and savagery of Necroticism, or the groovy Swansong.
@@RaytheGrayt think my favourite is keep on rotting in the free world. Yeah I do dig their earlier gore days. Heartwork is a brilliant album 👏 👌 🙌
I was 12 when that was originally broadcast.I didn't have MTV so my mate would record it and i would get it a day or so later. A big shout out to all you old skool "Headbanger's Ball" fans. And lets not forget the good old VHS. Yeah.
You know what really pisses me off about Headbanger's Ball? The fact that it's not on MTV anymore, and that MTV as a whole sucks without it... Ugh.
Rob D have you seen her without the makeup and the hair?
Cittamatra
without the makeup and hair?..hell 99% of women look like dickless dudes anyways without their fake asses and padded bras and tons of makeup and stank smelling perfumes etc etc etc lol..just like ole dad used to warn me about going to bed with a 10 and waking up with a 1 lol
***** Hahaha
TV as a whole sucks nowadays. The only time I turn it on is to watch the local news.
Necroticism was their best album IMO, and it along with Heartwork captures the unique sound they had. Everybody in goregrind has since tried their hand at the sound of Reek and Symphony, but the early 90s was when the band did something I wish would've caught on more. Not a fan of Swansong, but I appreciate that the band never pidgeonholed themselves into one genre.
Necro was a landmark, like master of puppets, slayer reign in blood, entombed left hand path, death leprosy, my dying bride swans, paradise lost gothic, sepultura beneath the remains...
yes brother!
this video made me pause, get up and get a glass of water
Carcass and Death are the best extreme metal bands ever! These are really cult bands.
Death is not really a cult band, Cannibal Corpse might have sold more than Death but now at days, Death is by far the most popular death metal band
"Dug our own grave"... Love how realistic Jeff is here. Many great bands did become overlooked, but not Carcass thankfully!
The point he makes at 5:20 is still painfully valid.
Watching in September of 2018. Jeff Walker is awesome! Carcass is awesome, even without former guitarist Michael Amott, and former drummer Ken Owen. I had NEVER heard Metallica, or Slayer, called death metal!!! wow!!
Wow, semi prophetic by Jeff there. Though he couldn't be more wrong that people didn't look back and view them as classic. So overlooked in their time, and now any metalhead worth his salt knows who they are due to all the bands they influenced.
..."5 years from now...um...maybe we're not going to break it big".....I knew there was a reason why I always LOVED this band and that sums it up. One of the most influential artists on the planet...one of the BEST live acts I have ever seen and even now they still play small venues and absolutely mesh with their fan base.
Still can't believe a country that represents classy and gentle would make such brutal thingy. Carcass \m/
And Napalm Death
And Bolt Thrower, Benediction, Cancer
@Finalized Tranquility Carcass are from Liverpool
Until you stay too long in the same pub and get glassed at closing time :D
You can tell he wasn’t feeling Cannibal Corpse
Love this band since the first time I heard them back In 1992. They're one of the few Extreme Metal bands that still matter, that create something unique back in the day that almost 95% of Death Metal, and Gore Metal bands still copy even now on 2022.
They sure do... as I listen to Reek of Putrefaction on cassette for the gazillionth time!
a different time, a great time, loved watching headbangers ball as a young teen!!!
somebody get homeboy a glass of water.sheesh,already.
I was totally 14 when I got into Carcass. Take that, Jeff! :-D
I could never watch Headbanger's Ball at home because mom would put me to bed when the sun was still out. Could only watch it when I spent the night at friends' houses.
I've loved Carcass since I was 16.... I'm 40 now and still appreciate .. shouldn't have sniffed that big line before the interview though...
You jus can't *click* really *click* define *lip smack* what death meh-ul is anyway *click*
Well said
After 30 years we can say, this album is a milestone in music !!! Thank you for that !!
Bill Steer was and remains so goddamned hot, Jesus Christ.
Thanks for the upload tooolest32.
I found out about Carcass late, (1994) but love them still to this day.
Finally get to see these guys in March. Can't wait!!!!
This chick was really lucky indeed. She had a chance to talk with Jeff Walker and Layne Staley aka my heroes. I would give my everything to be in her shoes!
i'd like to hear Jeff speak with his 2014 mind about the things he said in this interview.
when he keeps sticking his tongue out licking his lips reminds me of that dude from harry potter hahahaha, anyway great band still killing it!!
Kjetil Fimbulvetr Thought the same rofl
I think it's a death metal album. To me, death metal is everything that is UN-GENERIC.. Death metal is everything progressive and perfect and true and honest in the world.
Hail Carcass and hail death metal!!
And Death Metal incorporates all the best elements of music, Metal, Punk, Hardcore,Grind and Thrash, what better kind of music could you ask for? there is none!
UNIONPACIFIC3606 dont forget prog
***** grindcore
Jeff flicking his tongue around like that is reminding me of a frog catching flies.
He is on speed there me thinks
Jeff, what the hell did you smoke? The mouth dryed for some reason... And it's not 'cause you're a shy boy.. LOL!
Sounds like he has Cottonmouth..... lol
I love Jeff, but why does he have hate for death metal? HIS BAND IS DEATH METAL
@@iammarkfirth So he doesn't like his band?
I dont think he necessarily hates it just got tired of it and the thousands of copycat bands
I think his point is that he dislikes labels. Limiting yourself to a single genre or style is pretty silly.
@James Bond Surgical steel was really good IMO. Their New EP is pretty meh tho.
@@user-mz8iu7qx4n Agreed on both.
Awesome. Interesting interview. Definitely an amazing band. Hail Carcass. And also, nice shout out to Bleeding Ginger for the awesome comments below. Eternal hails to the old school VHS as well as the old Ball fans. Raise the old horns.
I love how they don't show Bill until towards the end. The man was so quiet lmao
Amo a Jeff Walker.
Bill Steer!
They need to bring The Headbanger's ball!
Go catch them on tour...they're blowing out the headliner!
Yes I had this on vhs..Carcass!!!
god damn give him some water
I love that they compare themselves to Edgar Allan Poe at 6:22!
Insane that this was TWENTY ONE YEARS AGO o:
Love their new record tho
My God there's some real wisdom here
He's about my age there so he's quite young and nervous, I'd actually come back from the UK before this interview, I was 21or 22 and just missed seeing them play and being stranded with my straight parents and dorky older brother was driving me nuts and I needed an infusion of live hardcore/punk and death metal!
Bill Steer- "Hmm, Hmm, Hmm," Those are the only words he says lol".
+Vinny V He confirms what Jeff is saying, so he doesn't need to say a word ;)
He's not that talkative so it's understandable
I love carcass 90s heavy metal \m/
Cottonmouth interviews are hard to listen to after a few minutes. I drank 4 beers listening to this shit...
Jesse P Uhuhuhuhuhuhuheheheeeeheheheeeeee
Found some gold!!
Carcass did abandon the Grindcore for Death Metal, and then like the band Death, went into an ever changing type of music. The Vocals flow with the music in Carcass better than a lot of other Death Metal type of bands.
I love this band and Jeff is a true artist. There is a huge difference as to why I stopped listening to Cannibal Corpse when I was 16 and why I can still listen to Cannibal Corpse today and why amazing bands like Cattle Decapitation are influenced by Carcass while every crap death metal band loves Cannibal Corpse. Pave your own way!
Swansong is my favorite!
Great band!
Symphonies of Sickness. (1989) is deff my fav.
So way ahead of their time. Way way.
É Megadeth puro a influência deles, em específico!!!👍👍👍😀😀😀
I want to see a Deftones-Carcass tour with each band alternating as headliner.
90’s metal, wow, Fear Factory, Carcass, Death, Meshuggah, Type O Negative. Think I watched this back in the day, had a crazy GF that did nothing but watch MTV and she would tape me stuff about ‘thrash shit’ and this was one of those videos ha ha, Great stuff.
Bill is gorgeous
Good interview no doubt
That man is nervous!
probably smoked beforehand and got cottonmouth
Carcass León is waiting. Yeah!!!!
It's funny that he talks about being more 'progressive' and 'realistic' rather than generic, but that was the direction many of these bands were going in in the 90s. In that sense they were actually going with the flow.
They were going for a more 'death/rot n roll' sound while other bands were still playing the same shit they did like 5 years ago they did progress from symphonies of sickness to Swansong if you listen so that's probably what they meant
Mouth noise ASMR
Jeff looks sooooo young
I totally love Carcass and all, but some things Jeff used to say seem so pretentious, or putting them on a higher pedestal. Not that he spoke badly about death metal, but saying Necroticism is past that or something seems a little silly. It's a death metal masterpiece!
Love the drugs.. and the music :)
🙀 So stoned 🤘
Vanessa is damn hot here....
Pure metal
Amazing Death Metal Song, Dident Notice how popular it was IM FROM THE U.S
This guys can reallyyyy play
NECROTICISM rules!!!
His comments have nothing to do with today's metal scene. Death metal was pretty damn healthy when he said this.
Once MTV was about music and not about realli(sitty) shows, at that time we can se Carcass and good stuff, today we only see Sweet 16 and crap like that .l.
No shit. You can't even take one hour a week of non prime time television for a whole genre. But this is the company that didn't wanna scare their demographic with homies until hip hop was all that kids listened to. An even sadder BET network.
❤
Give him a glass of water! He has cottonmouth
ah the gods of grind tour.feels like yesterday
Vanessa😍😍😍
what he said about death metal from 84-87,was interesting point of view.
yeah, interesting.
Jeff Walker: sick as fuck skilled brit!
So actually, Jeff didn't have a clue about death metal back in the day? It's ironic hearing him talk about it.
You didn't have internet to google about death metal at the time
Whats the song at 00:55
Vanessa! :)
Ken oen
CARNAL SAVAGERY!
Carcass \m/
6:52 WAS HE THERE THE WHOLE TIME?
Look how close Bill is sitting to Jeff, and the space on the couch at the start when it's just Jeff. He clearly joined later on. :)
