The Filmic Tonemap removes overexposed areas by compressing the dynamic range and adding overall contrast, while the LUT is a colour grade pre-set used to achieve a certain look.

Thank you for this overview tutorial. Putting the HDRI in the Environment (at the usual place of the VRaySky) makes it act as "Global Illumination / indirect lighting" : is there a way to have the HDRI act as DIRECT lighting (not as GI / indirect light) in addition to the VRaySun? Best regards.
Can you share your PC hardware? I'm sorry for this question, no hope for answer, everybody know that this channel never answer for any questions 😂. Just ask and wait for any designer reply.

@@Jez1963UK Vray comes with three, their one, nvidia's ai one and intels one. I think the intel one works best, especially because it does not require a GPU (no decent gpu in my render nodes). The results of the vray one is just clearly inferior in terms of quality. If you test it you will see.

The Filmic Tonemap removes overexposed areas by compressing the dynamic range and adding overall contrast, while the LUT is a colour grade pre-set used to achieve a certain look.
