Plus the child is probably going to a private school with the other rich and famous kids that probably have much more freedom to experiment and more influence to try things without much consequence. I dunno and I don’t like to judge, but I will. I’m a gay adult man. I’m not transgender and I don’t want to be a woman or act or speak as a women I’m a dude. It took me awhile to figure out that I was gay. I don’t think a child really knows what they are doing in my opinion. I came out to myself at 22 and came out to the world at 24. When we were little girls, we were told by our parents no, you can’t wear high heels at that age or long fingernails or go out with a boy at such a young age. I'm apart of the LGBT community and I completely agree. You have to be real strong to raise a transgender child and for me personally understanding what being transgender means i would still draw a line. I would wait until they turned 18 because me personally I wouldn't feel comfortable putting my child through surgery. Now if they want to do it as an adult I will be right there by their side. As far as changing names that isn't an issue for me or addressing them by different pronouns.

I remember feeling odd when zaya said she is going on this journey, that she wanted to feel or be beautiful and that now that she feels beautiful and she came out with make up on. I thought about kids feeling that way when young, and wish to be and feel beautiful like other kids that they see as beautiful. Most kids grow out of that part and will later understand when you grow up also your looks change. So when she said those words I felt sad for her, thinking about it. He became a famous basketball player, met a famous actress and divorced his wife. He did not want to give her anything so he decided to get full custody. He had way more power in the court system and thus, she lost her kids. He took everything she had. I don’t think the argument is really about Zaya’s identity. It’s about her waiting until 18 to legally change it herself. Sometimes I feel like Zaya’s dad is living vicariously through her. Every family has someone in the family who is a part of the LBGTQ community. I have 4 that I know of in my family. They made their own decisions as adults. We could see it when they were little. We did not Influence them. We just love them just the same. Zaya is being thrust into the spotlight at her age that’s the only problem I have with this situation. Adults allowing a child to make life long adult decisions is problematic. How many of us snuck out and got our first tattoo and now hate it? IJS.

You have to be real strong to raise a transgender child and for me personally understanding what being transgender means i would still draw a line. I would wait until they turned 18 because me personally I wouldn't feel comfortable putting my child through surgery. Now if they want to do it as an adult I will be right there by their side. As far as changing names that isn't an issue for me or addressing them by different pronouns.

I think the mom just isnt ready to mourn the loss of her son . Because lets be real when someone transitions the pwrson the person they were before be comes no more . Its almost like a death . So i can completely understand why the mom isn't ready for the death of her son. At the same time your baby is still here and as hard as that may be to take she still needs that love from her mama . I would definitely do some counseling. I wouldn't want to lose my child completely.
Sorry, it's his job to guide his child to make informed decisions and caution against risks. This in particular is a health, mental and Social risk, especially as a teenager
This is mother decision too. Dewayne got custody because he didn't want to have to pay all the child support. He had money to take them kids from her.

I always found it weird that Zaya’s mother was excluded from any discussion. I think Zaya’s mother concerns are in the right place as long as she herself doesn’t try to capitalize off their daughter. I always found it weird that Dwayne never made an effort to mention that Zaya’s mother was in on her transitional process as well. Unlike others I’ll give Gabrielle Union props because she accepted and raised Zaya as the young lady she is, whereas the mother seems resistant to accept her child is a transgendered woman. Not the little boy she thought she birthed and raised. Her mother needs to accept that and let her child be happy & FREE of her.

She requested child support, D Wade and Gabrielle intervened and won custody due to the fact of their celeb status. The judge/ courts failed this mother as well as the “CHILDREN”. Just because he has had custody does NOT mean he is best fit parent. Courts get it wrong too. That little boy may not be being "forced" but he is definitely encouraged to live as if he is a girl. Just sad and I feel for the mother.

I remember feeling odd when zaya said she is going on this journey, that she wanted to feel or be beautiful and that now that she feels beautiful and she came out with make up on. I thought about kids feeling that way when young, and wish to be and feel beautiful like other kids that they see as beautiful. Most kids grow out of that part and will later understand when you grow up also your looks change. So when she said those words I felt sad for her, thinking about it. I hope it is her journey, and not that after this she will feel a certain way or still not feel happy.

His mother’s name is pronounced Shavon if I’m not mistaken. It’s just spelled differently. Dwayne used his Ex wife. They were together when he had nothing. They married and had two kids. He became a famous basketball player, met a famous actress and divorced his wife. He did not want to give her anything so he decided to get full custody. He had way more power in the court system and thus, she lost her kids. He took everything she had. I don’t think the argument is really about Zaya’s identity. It’s about her waiting until 18 to legally change it herself. Sometimes I feel like Zaya’s dad is living vicariously through her. Every family has someone in the family who is a part of the LBGTQ community. I have 4 that I know of in my family. They made their own decisions as adults. We could see it when they were little. We did not Influence them. We just love them just the same. Zaya is being thrust into the spotlight at her age that’s the only problem I have with this situation. Adults allowing a child to make life long adult decisions is problematic. How many of us snuck out and got our first tattoo and now hate it? IJS.
