    Forgot trunk opening 4th method. Insert key into partially hidden key hole in the XK8 badge at the back. I just bought an 03 XKR and am loving it!

    I just bought (20 days ago) my cat XK8 convertible 2000, British Racing green, inside beige + wheels BBS Perseus 20" (they were for the last special edition) + original wheels. I totally feel in love. Still possilbe to ride it under the sun, even though it is becoming coooler and cooler. My son 5 y.o. became an immediate enthusiast "Jaguarista". I will never sell it. Wondering if to buy a XK to make a sort of collection/history

    I bought a '97 this past March w/81K miles at a really good price. The tensioners already changed with the chain guide blades. Already has the 6 CD changer and tape deck. Topaz metallic with beige interior convertible top also tan. Love the overall drive and feel of it's responsiveness, etc.

      They are great cars! May I suggest upgrading it to a newer (post 2003) year model? Up to the 2002 ym Jaguar used Nikasil cylinder lining which are known to fail, depending on the sulfur content of the gasoline that was used. They also used plastic timing tensioners that were later replaced with metal tensioners starting with the 4.2L engine in the 2003 ym. The plastic timing tensioners are also known to fail and cause major engine issues. Although you can replace the plastic tensioners with metal ones, there is still the Nikasil cylinder lining issue remaining...

    • @Sandalphon777
      @Sandalphon777 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ValEuroSport I recently had a mechanic look into it, and replace several engine coolant hoses, the water pump, several connections, the overflow reservoir behind the tire well, checked the timing chain tensioners and found they'll already been upgraded/replaced. The ABS sensor is faulty, but the brakes are perfectly fine. He also topped off the oil, replaced the engine coolant, etc. Between getting it to the shop, looking the car over, ordering the parts, replacing everything, the weekend following with a Sunday closure it took a total of 4 days turn around, and came to a grand total of $1010.00 after all was said and done. I wouldn't generally consider a year model in which Ford may have been highly involved in the manufacturing process though. As I understand it the number of parts ford related in these earlier year models was roughly 2 and those weren't of any significance in it's operability. A bolt for the oil pan, and some other minor piece as I recall. On the nikasil lining, I was initially concerned about that, but after looking into it I found a source or three who suggested it was a problem earlier on, but with the current quality and additives permeating the fuel market currently it shouldn't be a major concern any longer. I'm still looking into different aspects as they come to mind, but that's what I've found so far at least.

      Valentin Cristea Hi Valentin, Good to hear from you. However, as I may have mentioned, our plans are to move to Nice as soon as circumstances here allow (kids leave the nest, which should be sooner rather than later as they’re well on their way with their college studies) and although this car would also work well for the weather there, we’re better off buying one there than paying for transportation from here...

      These Jag X100 cars are the personification of the maxim "have your cake and eat it too". Not only it is a pleasure to own this car, and make lifelong memories with it, you won't take a hit if you ever have the misfortune to have to sell it. I have been selling these cars at about the same price for the last dozen years. Depreciation is nonexistent, if you can keep the mileage low!
      I do happen to have an incoming 2006 Jaguar XK8 in the same color combination: Onyx White on Cashmere with only 56k miles. Let me know if you are interested. Follow us on instagram @valeurosport, facebook (VALEUROSPORT), and check our inventory at www.valeurosport.com.

    I believe the design for that car was initially meant to be applied to the new Aston Martin of the time, but was eventually dedicated to the Jag. It’s such a timeless, beautiful design.

    Seats are so good because they are designed by Lear Jet Corporation. I have a 99 xkr convertible in metallic black. People want to talk to me about it all the time and don't believe its over 20 years old. I bought a wind deflector in the the correct color code and it works magnificently. I'll never sell this car. They can bury me in it .Sensationally fast, smooth and luxurious. The perfect demo of "iron fist in a velvet glove".

    Superb car. Got one. Interesting how classic car owners praise their color combo: it's *the best* it's *very rare* it's very desirable*. Guy, it's the color combo you like (obviously). Car videos are no therapies. I go for deep drak blue over beige. My thing.

      Bonjour Yves. I have just posted another Jaguar XK8 in the same exact color combination on my website. 2006 Onyx on Cashmere with 56k miles. I simply adore these cars! And yes, Pacific Blue over Ivory are definitely my favorite too. The trouble is they didn't make enough of them to go around. It must have been a couple of years since I last had one...

      With all the Jags XK8/XKR I have coming in, I would have to hire someone to fix these headrests 40hrs a week, LOL. They all have this issue. It doesn't bother me, since the headrests are doing their job of protecting the occupant from whiplash, even at their lowest setting.
