I don't think I've ever really appreciated just how industrious beavers are. I see the collapse and am always surprised that there are still lots of sticks and mud beneath the service. These dams are so well-built!
They’ll keep building their dams. A farmer friend had them in a creek on his property and they would rebuild as fast as we could tear them down. They were taking down enough trees he was worried about the creek bank eventually destabilizing. Plus the beavers were also going into his cornfield and chewing off corn. Their food stash was full of tree branches and corn. We ended up having to trap them and took out three. There are still some there, but they aren’t building dams. They just construct a lodge in the deep pools.
@@russellaustin4988 3 days to put back those branches and 1.5 weeks for beaver compliance, certification and quality check. Need to ensure water tight at the minimum. I luv beavers.
Put up a crittercam on the tree next to the dam so you can watch the beavers build the dam. They seem to like this spot so much! Then next time you knock the dam down, you can also show how the beavers built it.
On the left side of the stream there is a small tree until it is removed they’ll build back again. It’s job security for you they’ll just start building back in the same place again & again. Thank you for this video
Would be very neat to have a trail cam on this area on time lapse. You know their are watching you now, and will back at work tonight. :) Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
Very impressive again. May i give you a tip.. when you almost breakdown the beaverdam. Do a little dans on de mud of the beaverdam. It will come lose very easy and it is more fun!! Keep up the good work! Maybe you also buy a good rainjacked against the rain.
1 mo ago. You have a new fan. Your methods and post 10 are quite different, but I'll be watching both of you on a regular basis. Back in the day you 2 guys would be called "good people" . Best wishes and Merry Christmas. 12-25-23.
Dealing with the dam is great. I'll bet seeing the field tile flowing makes the farmer pretty happy too. It is amazing how much material you can remove and the dam continues to hold water. How great would it be to have a trail cam capturing the beaver rebuilding .
I have a saying for all my customers, "You can have it fast, you can have it cheap, and you can have it good. You may pick any two." These beavers seem to pick cheap and fast.
Considering the depth and complexity of the structure after just 2 weeks of work, the foundation is solid, built to last a beaver lifetime (10 years). Nothing cheap here! A great example of sound engineering!
My goodness, busy busy beavers. In order to slow this down, the farmer may need to bring in a wood chipper and turn all those branches to mulch. Alternatively, the beavers could be trapped and transplanted to a new home in the mountains.
Lots of showers here in the UK yesterday, I even had to sit in my car waiting for a thunderstorm with torrential rain to pass so I could unload my shopping to take it indoors! Those beavers have been busy for sure, another fine dam clearance and another very relaxing to watch video. Hope you and your family are all well Mantas.
Great video! I’m sure the farmers are thankful because when the canals are high, all their expenses for their drain fields are wasted. At normal water levels, their fields stay much dryer because gravity can drain the water down to the canals. Such a wonderful service and one that also provides interesting content for your viewers! Thanks again for these amazing videos! Stay safe and healthy! Your SW WI USA fan❤❤
The beavers build quite a marvel of engineering. Nature is awesome And your efforts quite impressive. As a former farmer, much kudos for your work and vids.
Amazing what the beavers can build in a two week period.great video as always.love your persistence, that’s the only way your gonna accomplish your goal.keep safe and don’t let the beavers get you LOL 👍👍👍😎😎😎
It's seems as if there aren't any trappers in your country to control the Beaver population. It would sure help the farmers and land owners. Another cool video!
Mantas great video as always, love the way you destroy this dam again, these beavers just don't give up do they. Keep the great work up and have a wonderful week and try to keep dry if possible. David B.,Utah, USA. ❤❤❤.
It's instructive to watch just how much water was flowing out of that drain. It's a LOT. And it looks like you're going to need a rain hood for your camera.
Hey Papa !! Nice weather you are having. Meanwhile in Montreal, we hit (0c) last night, we got snow falling and snow on the ground yesterday. We are sitting at (4c at 4:30pm) It will be (-4c) tonight, and minuses for the rest of the week here. Snow on the way for tomorrow !! YAY We turned the heat on for the first time last night. Hope Mama and the Little Princess are keeping well.
They are pretty precise too. Had a nearly 500 acre field get turned into a shallow pond a couple years ago over a summer from a nearby river that runs through my property beavers were smart enough to dig channels to divert water from the river into the field and then go around and dam off all the areas it was running out of the field.
Thank you for your videos!!! I never knew the enjoyment I’d get watching beaver dams removed. You’re videos are great. You’re not an obnoxious TH-camr. You respond to our comments! And now I want to go find beaver dams here in Rhode Island to remove! Thank you Kenis!
Why destroy these dams they help eco systems and plants, the damns are good for environment. SO much land has run off an is ruined because it is not slowing water to sink into the ground. People are now creating beaver dams to fix desaert land, slow the runoff and and refill the under ground aquiffers.
Yet again another back breaking episode in your battle with the beavers. For sure you need an excavator, not only to clear the dams but also to expand creating run off channels from the fields, all in a nice dry, warm cab.. hmmmm.. Good idea, just that one problem.. Money!
Do you ever get nervous standing downstream, with the dam in front of you, worrying if it will suddenly collapse? I know you watch it closely, but when there’s a huge body of water just waiting to get through that dam, it must be a little scary! Thanks for your videos - they are always great!
It is always fun to watch you remove beaver dams. Could you please leave a camera overnight so that we can see the beavers inspect the damages? That would be epic!
Was just about to recommend placing a camera trap here, as it seems to be a natural choking point in the canal because of the 2 trees - ideal for restarting a dam (however I'm not a 🦫 so I'm not 100% sure)
You almost had the same result as with the epic collapse upstream, they even used the lumber from the deer stand that went down stream with that collapse.
In the Army we would say "if its not raining, its not training" you have truly embraced that concept. hope you had a dry change of clothes in the vehicle.
Another guy who removes beaver dams in the US has said that the beavers don’t reuse the material. In the beaver mind, it is defective. Have never researched it myself.
I just had a ‘crazy’ idea: when the weather is warm again, find a seasoned (experienced) kayaker to start floating in the water above the dam, shortly before it’s about to collapse. Then, when you collapse the dam, they go for s ride! You could film their progress with your drone and see how far they get in a minute and in 5 minutes (That’s if you and your drone could keep up with them! Lol). Maybe a special episode? It’s something different that just might bring extra views? Just an idea. Nonetheless, I enjoy just watching your regular videos.
I’m undecided as to wether you are brave or crazy. That dam could have collapsed at any moment and you stand infront of it looking away. I nearly spat my coffee out when you done that. I’m guessing you have seen so many dams you are now one with the dams. Amazing videos. Be safe whilst busting them dams apart
Like I said in the other video, you better call someone to remove those two piles of sticks because at this rebuilding-dismantling rate you're going to run out of space pretty fast. 😄 Man, this time they packed the foundation with lots of sticks with branches instead of grass and mud, that sure made the job a lot harder for you. It might be the first time I see a dam being built that way.
Ok, now those beavers 🦫are resourceful, I see you pulling out 2x4 boards planks🤨 Also, you might want to take out as much of the mud on the left side of the tree to make rebuilding more difficult for the beavers🦫🦫
I think you once positioned a length of plastic pipe, perforated with holes , for a distance in the front of the lowered dam. Did this idea work at all or did it get blocked with mud, leaves etc ?,
Link to previous video: th-cam.com/video/WJVDPAYyYhY/w-d-xo.html
You need to burn those sticks and stuff that you pull out of there or else they'll just use them to block the way again.
I don't think I've ever really appreciated just how industrious beavers are. I see the collapse and am always surprised that there are still lots of sticks and mud beneath the service. These dams are so well-built!
Im still so shocked they can build that strong of one. Smart lil critters
As a Portland resident I will now think of the homeless (feral humans) as large hairless beavers. They too rebuild in two weeks.
Not rebuilt yet ✌️
Those two trees are acting as a major blockage and cornerstone for that beaver dam.
Love it the way you gets the dams to fall apart.
In the BIG SKY our beavers pick a spot and if they like it, they'll be back just as you are seeing.
It's amazing how quickly they can rebuild. Mother Natures little engineers.
This channel was not blocked again once I released the water.
Thank you for braving the weather for our entertainment ❤
Very therapeutic watching your work…well done
It's amazing how fast they can build back they seem to improve each time they build back. Ty for sharing
All they have to do is pick up the branches that he throws to the sides and don't have to cut new ones. I'm surprised it takes two weeks.
@@russellaustin4988 3 days to put back those branches and 1.5 weeks for beaver compliance, certification and quality check. Need to ensure water tight at the minimum. I luv beavers.

Really appreciate the hard work you put in for us to view 😊

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us.
You are welcome! I already did trail camera. But TH-cam algorithm didn't boosted this video :)
Lordy nature sure has a sense of humor. Never ending supply of wood for them beavers.
Or the old wood gets left next to the dam so its a recycled supply he leaves for them.
Very impressive again. May i give you a tip.. when you almost breakdown the beaverdam. Do a little dans on de mud of the beaverdam. It will come lose very easy and it is more fun!! Keep up the good work! Maybe you also buy a good rainjacked against the rain.
Thank you! Any ways I am all sweat after workout :)
I was surprised to see several flat boards come out of that dam. I didn't think the beavers would try to use lumber.
If you look at the post last time u can see the planks
Another fantastic dismantling today! Your the best, Mantas. See you on the next! 🇱🇹🙂👍🇺🇸
Looks like they made a wide base for the dam. Good job taking it down.
Loved that you went back to yesterdays! Thank you!

You are such a good man to keep coming back to reopen these days! GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY!
That is really hard work! The mud and wood is there and with time they can and more often do put it back unless they are removed permanently.
There is no dam up to now..
Dealing with the dam is great. I'll bet seeing the field tile flowing makes the farmer pretty happy too. It is amazing how much material you can remove and the dam continues to hold water. How great would it be to have a trail cam capturing the beaver rebuilding .

Fast usually means cheap.👍
I love that saying! It works all circumstances.
Considering the depth and complexity of the structure after just 2 weeks of work, the foundation is solid, built to last a beaver lifetime (10 years). Nothing cheap here! A great example of sound engineering!
With all the sticks lying right there, the Beavers have it pretty easy.
My goodness, busy busy beavers.

Great job, those bbeavers are keeping you busy.
Wow 2 weeks those beavers a real busy. They must be big also so keep an eye open. that is a lot of water keep up the good work.

The flooding behind that dam was extensive. I’m sure the farmer are thankful. Great job
