- Make a table runner start to finish using a quilt-as-you-go technique. It's great for beginners. Use scraps that evoke memories of days gone by.
The runner measures about 12" x 42". Detailed instructions for making and sewing binding to any quilted project are included.
You'll need:
Scraps of fabric for the top at least 13" wide. I used 10 different fabrics.
Backing Fabric: 3/8 yd, .4m
Binding: 1/4 yd, .25 m
Pellon Fusible Thermolam Plus - a fusible fleece: 3/8 yd, .4m

As a novice quilter that has always been afraid to do her own binding, this was the best explanation and demonstration I've ever seen! Thank you for making it less scary!
You are most welcome. My quilting neighbour showed me this technique about 20 years ago and it has never failed me. I'm glad the two of us could help. Pass it on like she did!
This is the most comprehensive video to ensure a squared up product. That is usually where my weakness lies. Thank you for making it all so explicitly do-able. 😊
Thanks very much Kathleen.
Best binding tutorial I've ever seen. Thanks a lot.
That is a beautiful runner. It was the best teaching method
I have ever seen and I have watched a lot of videos. I have been quilting for years and have struggled with attaching the ends of the binding to join them together. You made it so clear. Thankyou and I am a new subscriber.
Wonderful explanations.. I'm a beginner beginner... I've been trying to make a quilt for my daughter... It's literally 30+ years and I think I've been stalling..lol
Thank you for your awesome teaching skills .. you should do this for a living!!!
Wait...I think you do...lol

Great binding tutorial
Loved this binding technique ty
Leaving a little bit of a tail overlapping the edges and then using those tails to square up with the grid to keep things straight and square is a really valuable suggestion! Thank you.
Thank you, I appreciate your kind comment. Happy sewing to you!
Very pretty love your corner
Thanks Carol! @@CarolBastic-mb8yz
My pleasure. Why cut to size when you can trim!
Going to have to try this technique in a future project. Thank you for sharing.

Thank you for your explanation it was very clear and I gained a good knowledge about neat sewing so thank you very much God bless you
I appreciate your demonstration and enjoy learning different methods. This is the first time I have learned to draw a 1/4" line at the corners. Thank you, I will give it a try!
Excellent tutorial on binding! Thank you so much for your teachings. I learned so much and it was great for squaring up. ❤❤
beautiful work - I will make one to give to my mum for Christmas
That's a terrific idea. We all have some excess Xmas fabric around that could be used for this.
Hi Rob I live in South Africa my name is Denise. I wish I was able to get the fabric's you show on your show. We are really limited to good fabrics. But I really enjoy your shows
Thank you so much for the binding tutorial. I have not seen this before. I will be doing this to all my quilting from now one.
What a beautiful project! Thanks for the amazing and informative tutorial. Very helpful.
I'm glad you like it. Enjoy!
I like the way you do the binding by connecting the ending first before starting sewing. Will try your technique next time. Thank You!❤
Thanks! Have fun with that method. I use it all the time. - Brenda
I love your video especially the binding, I had so many problems with corners now I feel confident with start to finish. Thank you so much.
I'm glad you found it helpful Joan!
Thank you Brenda. Loved the detailed explanations along with the video. It was a great review for minding. I sometimes speed adhesive with a smaller project but now remember to take the time as if a quilt for a table runner that will lay nice snd flat
Thanks Bonnie. Although this takes a bit longer it is worth the results.
Great video thx from Collingwood Ontario.
Thanks!
Lovely. Thank you.
What kind of thread are you using?
How do you sew without a thimble? I can’t.
Old and tough fingers I guess! Thanks for asking Ginny!
The name of your iron, please
It's a T-Fal Ultraglide.
Can I ask you where you got your quilting table?
Sure! It's my Mom's old kitchen table chalk painted. I used leg risers for the extra height. Here's what they look like: www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/square-bed-risers-black-5-2-in-4-pk-0460783p.0460783.html?loc=plp
Lots of lag in the video. Don't think it's on my end
Hi Kathy. It took a couple of seconds to start but seems okay from my end. Hopefully it's okay for you later. I had not closed the TH-cam upload, maybe that was the problem.
@@amongbrendasquiltsbags5408 I loved the video. It was very informative, especially the binding. I always have trouble with that. Thank you!
why did you waste so much fabric on your strip at the beginning?
I think I just happened to have a rather long strip, likely from scrap, that I used for the first strip. The strips just need to extend beyond the batting edges.
