  • In the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, we spent lots of time battling the various foes and bosses the game had to offer as Link. But there was one strange occurrence that threw a lot of us for a loop as a kid. These were the giant enemies that roamed the land of Hyrule. The mystery behind these enemies always perplexed me as a child, but this bizarre event set off a chain of events that lead on one of the greatest hunts that took place in the game. Did hidden giant creatures exist besides giant Stalchilds and the other common ones? Let's turn back the clock and talk about the strange circumstances around these bizarre enemy spawns!

      I was still quite a wimp when I got Ocarina of Time 3D, so at first the Stalchildren scared me. Eventually I found out how weak they were and ended up spending my nights in Hyrule Field slaughtering them out of boredom.
      Then I saw the ReDeads and Dead Hand and realised how stupid I was for being scared of the Stalchildren

    Whoa! You have no idea how much you blew my mind! I remember as a child, one of my friends told me about a giant stalchild he had found in OOT he assumed was some kind of rare, secret boss. The mystery perplexed me to no end and I spent who knows how long looking for it, to no avail. This was before Majora's Mask, mind you.
    But when Majora's Mask had come out featuring a giant stalchild, I started to doubt if I was remembering it correctly. And although some part of me still remembered that it seemed like I had heard the rumor BEFORE MM was released, over the years I just kind of assumed I had mixed up the details and he was telling me about the Majora's Mask sequence. But now I realize IT WAS TRUE! He must have found this exploit somehow aaaall the way back in the late 90's, and I never should have doubted him in the first place! My God, you have no idea what closure this brings me! The mystery of the giant stalchild is true!

  • @Purplesubmariner
    @Purplesubmariner 5 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    It looks like the scale factor applies to continually spawning enemies, this could be why Redeads don't do it, as they're room-based enemies. It's been a long time since I've played Ocarina, but I would think there would be other continually spawning enemies in the game, like Wolfos?

  • @steelothezero5649
    @steelothezero5649 5 ปีที่แล้ว +74

    I can explain these. Every 50 enemies that spawn naturally will be bigger. No redeads or like ikes spawn those. I found one as a child and asked around if anyone knew about it. It was one of those things that spawn in the desert. 3 years later I found a second one and started reasearching them. I realized that every 50 or so is bigger than normal:edit thank you for the likes yhe most ive ever gotten was 3

    I’ve got something I’d like to share. This is probably my own “Mandela effect” because nobody else has ever heard of it. When Ocarina of time first released, a rumor went around school that you could get to a Triforce temple in the desert by finding a ridge where two quicksands diverge and standing on it. You play the song of storms and move only when there is lightning sounds.
    Strange thing is that it actually worked. I spent hours trying it but managed to get only 20-25 feet in. No temple though. If anyone has an original copy and could try it out, it would be awesome to learn what’s up with that sand ledge. I distinctly remember falling off immediately when no thunder was playing. But I could walk when there was.

    • @mrtoxicwasteland
      @mrtoxicwasteland 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      KainaX122 deadhand is an amalgamation of tormented spirits which forms in a location where great suffering was experienced by many people at their time of death. the 2 places we find this type of spirit are inside of a mausoleum respectively and at the bottom of a well which once belonged to a powerful shiekah turned necromancer. bongo bongo is a lich, in legends surrounding liches, they gain their ascendancy after a grueling ritual in which they rip souls from many bodies in a most excruciating manner. in the case within bottom of the well, our favorite headless drummer would tortured hundreds to gain teporary Immortality, leaving a mass grave of damned souls in his wake. these tortured souls would form a physical presence out of sheer willpower for revenge. much like the Poes found in hyrule which have wrongly died at the hands of men in war, the deadhand hungers for revenge

    The mystery present in old games is something I miss the most about gaming. Nowadays if you can't figure out a dungeon or there's some mystery within a story, you just look it up and everything is answered for you within seconds.
    Back then, if you couldn't figure it out...then the entire fifth grade class in your elementary school couldn't either but each of them had their own unique take on it and offered their own unique insights and rumors and red herrings. And if you solved it...wow, that was a real accomplishment! Even the easiest of mysteries or riddles became something great.
    OoT was so full of mystery back then I couldn't even describe it to people who grew up in the era of easy access to the internet and official guides and reviewers who are given advanced knowledge of any real or potential mystery that will ever appear, whether on release or in ten years from now. It was almost magical. I genuinely cite gaming in the late 90's as producing some of the most cherished memories of my life.

    I already knew that with ocarina of time.
    There is planty of smal secrets that you can discover in that game. I remember that one version of the game I had on N64 the kokori forest was never invaded with enemies when you became adult link. After restarting enough new games it suddenly triggered and the kokori forest was overrun with giant dekubabas and scrubs. That is how it always was supposed to be and I did not get that.
    Also the Megaton hammer had so many good uses that was never utilized completely. It affected much more enemies than you could imagine, ground based monsters and Wal spiders had special interactions with it and Megaton hammer was also able to be glitched with a simple combo of using it once on the ground and then hold sheild and switch to sword. In that stance you could break stones faster.
