If you told me 10 years ago I would be watching the Sun newspaper online and finding a full & deep discussion on social issues I wouldn't have believed you. It's really clown world isn't it ? All the big prestigious newspapers of the past have lost it completely, and the *SUN* yes the *SUN* newspaper offering a excellent open discussion like this

I didn’t know the Sun as a tabloid in the US but this guy, Steven Edginton, is a top notch interviewer. When a notice comes up on utube for one of his interviews I always watch. He’s going places I hope-he deserves it.

Steven is an excellent interviewer - this series is pure gold. Andrew Doyle is such a bright, well-informed guy - actually able to think about these issues instead of spout doctrine and eloquently examine the philosophical/psychological influences behind the scenes.
This is quality viewing like the BBC used to air, a time long ago.
When I was a kid the BBC was revered and The Sun was the rag of the uneducated. How times have changed...

He had the police call him up and say, "we're just calling to check your thinking" due to a tweet and put it on a crime file as a "non-crime crime". As an ex-copper he knew how things work so he took it to the top and got the case dropped.

Hmmm, where have we seen this before.
As a brown-skinned (so-called) "person of color" I say this, with love, to my friends on the woke left and to progressives and liberals in general: Stop trying to "help" all us poor dumb minorities, because we don't need it and don't want it. I'm American, and I spent more than two decades helping defend my country, so maybe I'm prejudiced (oh noes!), but when I look at a black or white or brown or red or yellow American, all I see is an AMERICAN. Same for anyone else in the world. Classifying by the color of one's skin is about the DUMBEST means of sorting people out. That the woke movement can't accept that fact speaks volumes of them, and none of it is good.

Yup. Don't get comfortable, sky news Australia has gotten good recently too, but I think they are luring people back in, then when it really counts, they will reel it back in.
Had a double-take when I saw that this was from The Sun, which shows my own bias. Excellent thoughtful and thought-provoking piece - well done to all involved.

In my experience working as a tradesman (windows/doors), the upper class are much easier to work for than the middle classes. The former treats you with respect for your skills and the latter just want you out of their home.

If they sacked you without following proper procedures you could crucify them in a tribunal. If they followed the proper procedures, investigated fully, then sacked you, you'd almost certainly have deserved it.

However, the numbers that have come and will continue to come its not feasible to take them. As the climate changes and we have droughts the future movements of people will make what happened in the last few years look trivial. We will end up with fortress Europe.

Critical Race Theory is a socialist societal cancer. It teaches that everything that seems normal and stable in society is actually a form of oppression against its pet groups and tries to join them all under the banner of race. The very foundation of liberal capitalism is being classified as oppression. Eventually they classify all forms of private ownership as wrong and oppressive. The people behind this want to bring down not only privately owned business, but home ownership and even owning your own car is wrong and to be attacked under this mentality. Basically everything we think of as normal is classified as oppression and any agreement with how to reform things is seen as collusion with the oppressive state of affairs. In other words we have let people get into control in politics, education, traditional media, social media, entertainment, advertising, even fashion who want to destroy what we consider normal. As other commentators have said it is like the novels of George Orwell. They are trying to bring a mix of Animal Farm and 1984. I don't even know if you will get this message because they are already in control of the trust and safety teams of all major social media platforms. They are already censoring what we say and more and more controlling how we can think ourselves.

Can we appreciate a good interviewer. My dad was a now retired journalist and he would say a good interview is 90% them talking and 10% your questions
That can’t happen every time but you should try to make that happen.
He also said, “they aren’t tuning in to hear you, they’re tuning in to hear your guest”.
That really stuck with me.
I like an interviewer who points the interviewee at the question and allows them space to make their point.
Having first encountered The Sun as a paper boy in 1974, page 3 and all, I am absolutely delighted with what The Sun has done with this channel, which is now as insightful and intelligent as anything as readily accessible.
When the Sun is producing content more eloquent and thoughtful than most other media...

I grew up in Canada and now reside in the US. I find the downward spiral of group think, wokeness and polical correctness in the US to be disturbing. I find this type of intelligent discussion to be quite refreshing instead of the cancel culture when any dissenting view can’t even be presented. Excellent job and well presented - thank you!

This young interviewer is extremely good, he’s really following the answers, asking insightful questions and not making it about him. Leads to an interesting and engaging interview. Which more were like him. Mind you this guy was a golden guest too 🙂👍🏼

It's because people are more self focused and like walking around all holier than thou and act morally superior. It's boost their egos judging and criticizing people. A lot of people are smug and lack empathy are not humble. It's all about them.

Fantastic discussion. So intelligent, fair and unbiased. So much I agree with and I believe society needs more of this type of conversation to educate and inform the populous. Everybody is entitled to their opinion but that doesn't mean to say we have to share the same as theirs .Freedom of speech is such a wonderful privilege and we should all value and encourage it. Congratulations to Steven and Andrew for such a wonderful interview.

I'll tell you why i lost friends, if it's of any interest... a) suggesting Scotland should be allowed their independence and b) suggesting that not everything Tommy Robinson says is wrong. We in Scotland voted to remain in uk. We were not "allowed" anything, we chose to preserve our precious union, despite all the pressure from nationalists, republicans, anarchists, and the rest of the motley leftist crew.

I think that they realise people have since the bs of Brexit perhaps, woken up and are capable of spotting bs. They were known for often printing bs in the past and less so today perhaps? I can't be sure of that as I never read any newspapers but going only by their YT channel the Sun appear to be showing a good degree of common sense.
The Sun is a rag that blows with the mind. They’ve little moral or ethical underpinning. That they’re offering a rebuttal to wokeness is because they’re readers feel the same. They’d support whatever is felt publicly. They’re still a filthy rag.

I remember one night many years ago i was getting death threats through the night from my friends insane boyfriend. The response from the police was unless he actually hurts you we cant do anything. I heard only recently this is still the policy .Yet they will get from behind their desks to check up on an offensive tweet.

How do we get critical thinking back in to schools when it seems even teachers are not thinking critically. Speaking from the US. It scares me that children are being taught what to think in schools rather than how to think.
Classical Greek education taught grammar, logic, rhetoric first, then mathematics, music, physical skills etc. I think television has destroyed people’s ability to think for themselves especially with the advent of ‘reality tv’.

Totally agree, I've watched a few of his interviews and although he's generally been interviewing people with whom he agrees (at least in the ones I've seen) he does a great job of allowing them to articulate their viewpoints. Hope to see more of him.
@@Warfoki I understand why they don't interview woke people because as you allude to in your comment it tends to end up in a screaming match without any introspection.
All I was saying is that I'd be very interested to see that interviewer take on someone with opposing views as I actually think he'd handle it really well. Most of the viral interviews with say, Jordan Peterson, have interviewers who completely misrepresent his viewpoints and refuse to listen to anything he says, so it'd be interesting to see the woke person in the spotlight for a change.
