I'd like to "box in" the trunk and make it carpet lined. That way I it will look nicer and then I wouldn't need to worry about stuff moving around and hitting the quarter panels, making a dent. :)
I’ve never been happy with any of the stock or aftermarket mats…. And don’t like how the trunk floor (gas tank) is uneven. I cut a piece of plywood and ran it across the entire floor. Then bought carpet scrap from ACC carpets so it matches the ACC carpet installed in the rest of the car. No pool noodles were used!
Yeah, I also dislike the trunks in these cars. In my previous Mustang, I attempted to do a custom false floor, got about have way and scrapped it. I never really use the trunk so I didn't think it was worth much effort. :)

That's a good idea, those holder things can be a real nice bonus when wrapping up parts of the car. :)
Nice update to the car. I’ve never used the trunk for fear of something rolling around and hitting the inside of the quarter. At least it looks good!

Those pockets on the sides are standard. Not sure why they left the void. I guess they could be storage. I've never checked how deep they go

are the trunks always uneven like that? as in they dip down to the gas tank?
Yes, the trunk floor and the top of the gas tank are not parallel with each other. :)
