  • I'll explain and show different ways to use (and not to use) the aforementioned pedals and where you should put them in your signal chain in different situations.
    The original footage of the EV intro clip was shot by Dennis Henson and KJ Melgoza. Thanks guys!

    I love putting a Flanger in the effect loop qith a very subtle flange (almost in a straight doubler config) and it sounds heavy af, thank you Dimebag for that bit of inspiration.

    Finally someone using modulation before and after the gain channel, there are too many people showing only the "correct" way ( modulation after distortion).
    Thanks Euge!

      @@EugeValovirta230V wow. This debunks all the popular advice floating on the internet which says to always put modulation in the effects loop. Flanger and Phaser sound better before the distortion as you have shown. Thanks!

      @EugeValovirta230V  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      There are really no rules. If it sounds good it’s good but in general I always use phaser before overdrive (pedal) and flanger after (overdrive pedal) but both in front of the amp 👌😎. Same with chorus but sometimes that in the effect loop. Wherever it does the best what I want it to do. Mostly it’s in front.

    love this video. i have a mxr flanger in my fx loop and i noticed the results sounded way better when plugged after the guitar.
    i would say the same especially for my phaser in my alesis quadraverb ( ot the best phaser sound but not terrible surprisingly.)
    i switched my vintage tc sfc to the newer pedal form and those seem to be the best sounding through an fx loop.
    i guess its safe to assume phase/flanger go before and chorus to taste.
    thanks for the video! your results pretty much confirmed similar results i had speculated you would have

      I use Phaser before overdrive (SD-1 usually) right after wah and Fla & Cho after od. Sometimes Fla before Cho and sometimes after but it doesn’t really matter ’cos I hardly use them at the same time. And I use Fla very occasionally anyway 😎.

    Hey! You are the coolest guy doing this! You really enjoy it! I have a jcm800 89 (no loop) and idk how should i put my pedals (tunner-dunlop rotovibe-morley wah-ts9-Spark miniboost-carbon copy-mxr90-decimator)

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks! 🙏😎 I’d put those pedals in this order: tuner-wah-rotovibe-mxr90-ts9-spark boost-decimator-delay( dly in the loop if you’re using amp gain as your main gain and ts only to boost it, if you’re using these into a clean amp the delay works great in front of the amp - check out my video about delay 😉). And decimator before dly so that it doesn’t cut off the delay tails 👍

      @EugeValovirta230V  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok cool! Yeah the only con with old Marshall’s is that they don’t have effect loop and as you’ve probably noticed that delay sounds quite chaotic in front of an overdriven amp.

    Great video. But, let's throw a fuzz in the mix.
    Let's assume Chorus in the loop. Would you put a Phaser and Flanger before or after Fuzz? Thanks.

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks!
      Usually I have Phaser in the beginning of the effect chain right after wah and before any ODs etc. and Flanger after but having said that it all depends what I’m looking for. If it sounds good, and I get the results I want, it’s good. No matter in which order they are 😊.

    Stupid Question: if i have a normal pedalboard, how does it work that some go through the effects-loop, and some stay in front of the amp? I just can´t imagine the way of the cables?

    • @EugeValovirta230V
      @EugeValovirta230V  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lots of cables or a switching system where the pedals are in a rack with the amp and you control the whole system with a foot controller like this one for example: voodoolab.com/product-category/switching/
