Even though Jennie is the main rapper, she's also a natural vocalist. She is good and her voice is even more powerful than Rosé's, her voice fits dark and powerful songs. But she can be better if she will do proper vocal training.
There's something in her voice, it's not typical Korean voice but kind of American- n trust me I becomes her fan only after hearing her voice. My friend was watching her fan cam video(solo) n it just hit me n then I saw her-after that I started to watch all her videos n then I noticed her members but I didn't hear their voice but feel that they r all pretty n then I started to watch BP whole videos n now I'm OT4 but bais is still her❤️Jennie❤️

her lower register has like a crackly? like a growl to i can't really explain which makes it sound really powerful and like cool, but her higher mixed and head is super clear very fun to see such alike consice comparison between the two

When it comes down to singing, your lowest notes will tend to have a bit of vocal fry involved which makes your voice have more of a rumble, especially if you have strong lower notes.
its called vocal fry. too much of it is bad and improper singing, but its a natural part of going lower. as you go lower, especially for those with deep voices or good low notes, the voice will start to sound dark and raspy with some vocal fry, or as you said "crackle"
Jennie might not be the strongest vocalist in kpop, but for someone who barely got vocal training (i think she got the least in blackpink) and was more focused on rap she is pretty good

Jennie can't be the strongest vocalist in kpop because she literally is a lead vocal. How can you compare that to so many main vocalists out there? You don't do that. Jennie is a rapper and she actually is the strongest female rapper in her generation, on of the strongest in general. You don't compare a main rapper to a main vocal in terms of singing.

Jennie isn't the best vocalist in kpop, but she is still a very good one. There's something about her voice that's makes her different, she doesn't sound like your typical kpop vocalist. Idols like Nayeon, Seulgi, Taeyeon, Wendy, Solar, Jihyo, and more all sound like they would be Korean vocalist, but Jennie( and Rosie) sound like the coulde just be pop singers. Her voice is 100% unique and it is really powerful. She has such a versatile voice, she is even more versatile then some if the best vocalist in kpop. Blackpink differently is a group that lacks vocals, and that's 100% on YG. They should've gave them proper vocal training, if they did Jennie and Rosie(also Jisoo) could be some if the best vocalist. Even with the training they got, Rosie is still a very talented vocalist. In my opinion, Jennie is Blackpinks second best vocalists. Many says its Jisoo, but I feel like its Jen. Jennie is more versatile than Jisoo, she has the wider vocal range, she has better tone, she is just as stable(maybe a little less but not by much), she speaks better English(no hate to Jisoo), her voice is more attractive, and her voice is more powerful. The only thing Jisoo is better at is control and breathe. Jennie looses breathe easily, especially when she is rapping and hitting high notes. I love every blackpink member, and they all truly are talented.
Jennie's breath control has improved and her breath was always excellent in rapping. Jisoo only has a better technique (yet she strains herself on high notes) but that's it. Jennie is definitely a better singer. It was confirmed now that Jennie is E while Jisoo is on pair with Lisa on F, both worse than Jennie.

Seems like she's having second-best singing-techniques in BP ( after Rose), still very unstable and can be better with proper training.

Naah, that's not true. A top-trained pop vocalist will have a supported range of around 3 octaves from chest voice to head voice. Some singers have the ability to push their chest or head voice further but it's usually unsupported which could give them 4 octaves- Then, if you have the ability to access whistle, that'll give you access to 5 octaves, and in the most extreme cases just about 6 octaves.

Lisa is actually the lowest average and Jisoo is average, 'good'. Jennie & Rosé are above average :) But all of them are pretty good considering they are from YG who doesn't pay attention to vocals too much.

She's not able to resonate, she has a throaty placement just like Jisoo, but she's more open, what makes her belts more relaxed than Jisso ones, her upper is her worst register, she's not really comfortable with it, her lower register is more relaxed and she can project it better than her upper and "mixed", she has a batter agility than Jisoo, she can project it better than Jisoo and it's more precise.
They're overall technique is basically the same, both are throaty and pushed, the only difference between them is that Jennie's more open and more agile/precise while Jisoo's more relaxed in upper and lower.

It’s a note in the 6th octave. Basically where head voice and falsetto and whistle range take over. But if you’re good enough you can have mixed voice in the 6th octave. But it was just a scream didn’t seem to be too controlled
b means flat and # means sharp. Basically an Eb6 is higher than D6 and lower than E6 so it's in the middle. And Eb6 can also be written as D#6 cuz it's a semitone higher than D6 but semitone lower than E6 so it's in the middle. The way we usually write notes is C, C#, D, Eb, E, F, F#, G, G#, A, Bb, B. The C#, Eb, F#, G#, and Bb are semitones or half notes which are between 2 notes cuz its higher than one but lower than the other. For example the C is lower than C# and C# is lower than D. Her vocal range is E3 - Eb6 so if she goes a semitone lower (Eb3) or a semitone higher (E6) then she'll have 3 octave vocal range.

@@marynathalieereno7031 yes unique voices are marketable but hers tends to be screechy sometimes and she doesn't have much support or stability, plus her range is still average 2 octaves I heard. if you've noticed most or all of blackpink songs dont even have high notes to showcase them and they stopped going to idol singing collabs like the one rosé did in 2017 with yuju so i dont think any of them are ready for that competition.
unique voice cant carry you everywhere, some practice and evolving is needed. I mean look at hyorin, or minzy who has a similar tone of jennie but far better singing, just check her pre debut cover of halo and the singing clip of pre debut jennie... and even after debut her songs aren't really challenging and the covers aren't exactly impressive, like that one chanel cover. out of breath and screechy. the rest are lip synched. that's why I think she's good as a lead or sub vocalist in another group.
