A roof basket works well with roof bags and is overall more cost effective than a roof box. Alternatively putting something flat and hard in the bag at the base also helps rest the bag on the rails such as a camping table.

Would someone be able to fit 2 of those on the roof of a van or mini-van? Or would you be limited by the location of doors to hang the straps onto or through?
the foam mat wont last a second down the road it has to be completely under the footprint of the bag or it just flaps against the top of the car. seems to be completely missing and the gas station stop in the video

Thanks for the video, good flow, kept it moving. Showing the inside, it really loaded up and maybe some zipper action I think were all it was missing.

You don't need cross bars, it has hooks for the door sill. It is water proof if installed correctly.
You've got the bag upside down mate. The grey side is the base and should be on the roof
