- This is one of the most irresponsible and unsafe fast food items I have ever seen! A "lemonade" should not have 390mg of caffeine and 24.5 TEASPOONS of added sugar.
The girl who unfortunately passed away from this beverage did have a heart condition, but NO ONE should ever been consuming something like this!

The two Paneras in my area removed the charged lemonade from their self service counter this week, so they are taking this seriously

I'm extremely sensitive to caffeine due to a medical condition. This is scary because I would never suspect lemonade to have caffeine much less a lethal dose of caffeine!! I hope the family sues
The women had a heart condition. They might lose the lawsuit, but I do wish the story wasn’t that. I really like this video. It shows what these food places have portioned out to feed to a mass. What is a charged lemonade? Electrolytes? No caffeine…. Caffeine has been said not to even be good for anyone at best. Yet they put that much? I only ate here twice and got there soups. I had bought a drink and thought the lemonade was like specialty. It was nasty. So I just got a soda, but I see why…..
It’s up to the consumer to know exactly what they are consuming. This isn’t Panera Bread’s fault.
Probably because it was 1 death. If products were pulled from shelves over a single death, there wouldn't be any products to buy. There are many factors that come into play. You don't just drink it and die. Lol
Removing the drink from their menu at this point would be admitting guilt.

I find it utterly insane how food products are not required to label total caffeine content.
They do label this drink with the caffeine content, but of course Bobby doesn’t show that.
@@kandk920 It's not clearly labelled, as Bobby said in the video you had to go on their website to see it, and the big warning sign is only there now because they're being sued after someone died. In any case, only added caffeine is legally required to be labeled, not total caffeine.

I don’t think the knew how much caffeine was in the lemonade. I think some people were surprised when they found out that Starbucks refreshers had caffeine in them.
Do you really think college kids will go on their web site and research how much caffeine is in that drink?

@MEN101 I think they should have labeled the amount of caffeine, but college kids are adults. It's sad they didn't advertise appropriately, but if I have a sensitivity I make sure understand what consuming.

I don't do energy drinks, and would never have this drink, but people will, and it's sad. Somebody had to die for it to be mainstream. This alone should be a awake call to America.

You’ll love it. Once you change, you won’t even be craving it anymore. I lost over 130lbs, coming from 300lbs. If your craving food that’s outside. Try and go to good mom and pop shops and even cultural one, Chinese, Mexican, Italian, Jamaican, etc. That helps you to expand your food options. Half Price Book store is really good with books on different culture foods and recipes. The fast food chains and franchise are wack! They manipulate so much….We are all becoming just miserable about it.

The girl who died from this drink had a congenital heart condition that made her unable to handle much caffeine. She probably thought it had around the same amount of caffeine as a soda, which is around 45 mg. They should state that ounce for ounce it contains as much caffeine as coffee. The company needs to be up front about how heavily caffeinated that drink is so that kids and caffeine sensitive people will steer clear of it. Honestly better yet the should cut the caffeine in half at least. They probably have to add that much sugar because caffeine is so bitter. So cut the caffeine and the sugar too!
They always had labeled how much caffeine Is in it on the sign of names on each lmonades
Thank you for this video Bobby. I suggested you do this video when I heard about the college student that died. Panera Bread needs to remove these unhealthy drinks and replace them with something with no sugar and no caffeine. Panera Bread has something called a Sip Club where members get unlimited drinks for a monthly or yearly fee. I got my 1 year membership when a new store opened near me. I didn't realize at 1st how unhealthy the drinks were, but now I just get 1 cup of black coffee in the morning. I won't renew my membership unless they replace these unhealthy drinks. 🎹 👍
No sugar and no caffeine… try water.
@@js0292 That's what I drink 99% of the time except for a morning black coffee. But if I get free drinks for a year I might want an occasional sugar free, caffeine free lemonade. I'm also looking for a better option for their other customers that don't want water.

I once accidentally drank two of these back-to-back-yes, the _large_ ones-while sitting in Panera doing some work. 💀 I’m honestly shocked I didn’t die. Oddly I didn’t even have any ill effects at all, like racing heart or anything. I’m so glad I lucked out. It could’ve ended so badly. I mean that was nearly 800mg of caffeine in one sitting at 7pm on a random Wednesday! 😭😵 how did my body survive that?! That-I do not know!!!
Well, that isnt nearly enough to kill you, this girl sadly only died because she had a rare heart condition, it takes thousands of mg of caffeine to kill a normal person, but i do agree that this amount shouldnt be allowed in a normal drink sold in this fasion.

Another man died from a heart attack, Dennis Brown 46, a few days ago. I cannot believe they did not pull this product after the young, healthy college student died. The article said he drank 3…but still. It should not have been there at all.

To be frank I was just at Panera a couple of weekends ago. I saw the lemonades and the amount of caffeine was labelled. It was clear as day both on the menu and on the drink dispenser how much caffeine there was. I decided not to get it since I have gotten heart palpitations from too much to caffeine. If the drink was not labeled in her case than Yes Panera is 100% at fault.
Yes at my Panera it was very clearly labeled!! They launched these while I was pregnant & I was so sad when I saw the label because I strayed away from caffeine during my pregnancy. After I gave birth I went and tried all the flavors & I drink them often!! I suffer from palpitations too & I'm technically not even supposed to have caffeine but I love these. 😅 It's really unfortunate that someone passed. I'm thinking maybe her Panera didn't have the label or maybe she went through a drive thru… but every Panera I've been to here in CA has the caffeine mg clearly labeled oj the dispenser

I personally could barely finish a small...... but we would collectively, between about 6 of us, drink 1 gallon at work 😬 We don't do it anymore

People assume that because Panera is a bakery and all the food is prepared by the order, that it’s healthy. Not only is it not healthy, it’s expensive. I’ve had many friends have hard times after drinking their coffee, which seems to be a super charged version. For the same caloric value as a meal and Panera, you can get something at a fast food joint for about half the price. And it is considered fast food as well, considering no one wait for you at tables. so I can’t justify the price just because it’s made to order.
Yes, it really is annoying how companies just get their product out there! I shop very carefully and cook at home! My kitchen is clean and we know exactly what we are consuming. Surprise, surprise. Panera are in a lawsuit now because of two deaths linked to this very lemonade.
It’s so important to inform yourself on what you are consuming!!! I only started doing this after I was diagnosed with celiac disease at age 17. And since then reading labels has become essential. But everyone should know what they are consuming because a lot of food items in America are straight poison!

I literally stopped and showed a woman the caffeine content as she was filling up a cup for her toddler!! They were choosing it because the child liked the color. Even with the new, and barely noticeable "warning" sign, people will overlook it and continue to guzzle it. Crazy town!
As a guy that drinks pre workout and energy drinks. 390 is a lot in one sitting. 300mg is what most 'strong' energy drinks have. Now spread throughout a whole day i could maybe drink 2-3. But i know how to keep my heart rate down with other supplements to stay healthy.
