Way too little information about the question being raised. The midwife involved has surrendered her license, appropriately so. But to blanket question ALL AZ Midwives competency? There needs to be a lot more investigation, comparing Midwife education, yrs of practice, ongoing education, #’s of births they attended both with AND without complications, complaints to BON, etc.

Addendum to below note & my sincere apology. After watching the video again, my prior response was absolutely wrong! Any Midwife doing home births for a VBAC pt in a remote town/county without trauma center quality backup is risky at best, & far above the appropriate standard of care! The pt SHOULD have delivered in a hospital, period, preferably in a bigger city & under the care of a Gyn familiar with high risk patients! VBAC’s are high risk!
Secondly, I was unaware that “Midwife” wasn’t a term exclusively used by “Nurse Midwives,” & therefore under the regulations of the AZ State Board of Nursing. I am flummoxed to find out there apparently is another route to practice as a “Midwife” in AZ other than through the State BON! Again, my sincere apology for my initial interpretation of the news. Also, my sincere condolences to her family & friends. If I could figure out how to take down my prior post, I would.

The young kiddos keep demanding and defending Socialism, Communism in this country. How is that authoritarianism working for you now.
