I love learning different recipes from all over our beautiful continent. I'm South African, I remember the 1st time I had Congolese food at a place called Ken Malibu (sp) in Yeoville. It was love at first bite..... Your stews are to die for!!!!
Congolese food so rich and tasty, proper gourmet! As burundian we stole so many for your recipes for so long that we call it our own now 😄. At least we are eating good thanks to our neighbours.
I am Congolese but don't know all different receipes of childhood. Thank god there are channel like yours that keep it simpel and help me to give it a try. Thank you for that!
Looks delicious! I'm planning on embracing my Kongolese side as my great grandfather was a mixed African American who came to England in 1944. My grandma is 23% African with 12% of that being from the Kongo region. I am 5% African with 2% of that being from the Kongo region so I have been wondering how I could embrace that small part of me for a while.. As I am a foodie this will definitely be a good way to embrace it. Thank you for the video, again it looks amazing!
You’re a great, authentic cook. Really love this. You cook like a true African, love to see it. This just took be back to my primary school days when my friends family used to cook and feed my family and I. Just had a sudden craving for Congolese food, wanted a switch from Nigerian food. Keep the videos coming, you’re fab!!
I love to see African food explained in a language that can help everyone to understand our cuisine and enjoy it. I also like the casting and presentation. Go girl...but can you add " le nTaba" please done in a traditional way (on the bqb not in the oven)?
New Subbie! I'm loving your recipes. I'm Ghanaian and I wanted to branch out and try different African recipes and came across yours. We use similar ingredients however, I love how your recipes are quick and easy to follow. I will be making some of your dishes soon. Thank you!
Sis, please be careful with how much Maggi Cube you use in your food. It made of MSG (monosodium glutamate), which is a food enhancer. We should really use it in moderation as it can be really bad for us (high blood pressure and weaken our bones). I know we've been using this ingredients for a long time but it always good to be safe. Overall, I love you channel. Thank you for sharing. Bisou!
Mmmm, the end result looks like Haitian chicken with sauce! I'm researching Congolese food, as I found out recently that a large part of my DNA is Congolese. I'm also part Nigerian! 😊 So far, so good - I like everything I watched! I was so excited when you called the peanut butter "mamba", (on another video) as this is what we still call it in Haiti! Is this the actual Congolese word for it?
@@mizzpoetrics More specifically muamba/mwamba nguba (nguba is peanuts/groundnuts) in the case of cooking paste made from peanuts, as muamba/mwamba can also be made from boiled and pounded ripe palm nuts

Great video! Thanks. It could help to clarify what type of chicken (free range/hard chicken?). Imagine boiling ordinary frozen chicken from the supermarket for over an hour lol. Thanks again
This looks very delicious, but I am concerned about those Maggi cubes (they are not healthy), all purpose seasoning & chicken seasoning, so I’m just gonna make the seasoning myself using my spice rack. I might use some chicken broth from the store tho!
A maggie cube is just chicken bouillon or dry chicken broth. You can by the cubes or just jar of the seasonings. Just so you know almost everything is linked to cancer; I really don’t understand why everyone is getting riled up about it. As long your food is t salty is fine and yours definitely looks healthy and delicious.
mmmmh some food product enhance and speed up the cancer cell proliferation, and inflammation (wich is the genesis of all disease) maggie cube is one of them, naturally grown food are less likely to cause that. Maggie is not jsut chicken brothe read the ingredients, anything you can recognize shouldnt be put in your body
En tout cas, je suis "dedans", dans ma mouvance. Je prend le chikwangh et la sauce, je broies et croque les os du poulet ensuite je leche mes doigts. Gout na gout. Make more vids, je t'encourage ma sœur.
First of all I'd like to congratulate you. You're a great cook just by seeing how you are putting spices together but one thing I'd like to advice you is to use less Maggi cubes it's not good for your health. Researchers said it can cause breast cancer so be careful.
Michaela Bilolo - Thank you for your comment and I appreciate your concern. I don't use a lot of it in all my meals but I like to add just a bit more in some of my dishes. However moving forward I am looking to collaborate some spices in order to have a similar taste as maggie cubes. This way it can give the dish a good balance when adding minimal cubes.
I'm making this today, I'm St.lucian and my boyfriend is Congolese, I'm happy I found your channel, because your recipes are so straightforward.

Reminds me of Haitian sauce
The French influence
I think many of us Haitians have ancestors that were from the Congo. I wish we could do more DNA testing there.

Should I add tomato paste for a thicker sauce?
This is exactly what i did last Saturday bana nzambe know how to cook soso ya makasi ,only bana Nzambe
😊 merci 🎉
How can you thicken the sauce without stock? Can you just add water to the pan?
If I cut up okra and add it to the mix at the end, will this addition mess up the flavor of the soup?
No it won’t mess up the taste ☺️ I’ve done that before I found it delicious 😍
