@@alliebeardontwalk8463 Speaking in general terms and not with respect to any one group; religious freedom does not mean religious organizations or leaders have a right to success in their efforts. Congregations close or scale down operations on a relatively regular basis in the Western World.

We were part of an international ministry and one of our fellow missionaries was found to have been abusing young children. The leadership of the ministry sent a Christian psychologist to help the staff deal with the fallout. We had him over for dinner and the question I asked him was: I understand that Christians can fall into sin. But how is it that a Christian can scheme and plan and manipulate to be able to 'have his way' with vulnerable victims? His answer surprised me. He told us that in his experience these are not Christians. Instead they are people who seek out professions where they have access.

I left the charismatic church in 2017 and I cannot even bring myself to go to any church again. I don’t trust any of the leaders anywhere. I spent a couple of years healing, and took a deep dive into the history and the teachers, and where everything was coming from. I still have faith in God, but I am a deep truth seeker at heart. I can’t handle the institutionalization of people.

Hey folks I have been OUT OF CHURCH for 15 yrs. or so.
6 churches shunned and in essence ejected me.
But this was because God used me like a scalpel just by being friends and being a TRUTH SPEAKER…I did not realize
that what I spoke truth about cut deeply to the heart of people’s lies and sins.
This is totally unintended nor was I aware myself.
      BUT I LEARNED.
I love Jesus and His body and the Trinity as that is MY TRUE LIFE.
But my family history IS THIS CRAPPY BUNCH OF LIES.
We are all suffering whether we KNOW IT OR NOT!!!
Bless you. I hope you find a
port love and fellowship in this storm of lies and arrogance.

This interview was so necessary. I’d not heard of the Roy’s Report before the Bickle story was published last Fall. My knee jerk reaction at that time was that the same group that is funding Christianity Today was behind this story. Why else would a Jane Doe come forward to tell a 25 year old story about a leader of an international prayer movement-during a time of political upheaval? I have to admit that before this interview I did believe the stories coming out of the Roy’s Report were true. But I thought the point behind them was to ultimately bring down the church. Hearing Julie’s heart lets us know that her hope is to bring these things to light as a saving grace. Maybe this way we may be given opportunity to ‘flip the tables of the money changers’ and wake up the church before it’s too late.

Great Interview! Julie Roys is a hero for the work she has done. She is incredibly brave. I have really appreciated the quality of investigative journalism her team puts out. I really like the "cross-pollination" that takes place when individuals from one stream of Christianity (Charismatic/Pentecostal) take time to listen to and learn from people from other streams (traditional Evangelicals). I was surprised when someone from the Charismatic/Pentecostal stream (on a different video than yours today) mentioned Julie Roys and had never heard of Moody Bible Institute (Ms. Roys used to work for Moody). In like fashion, I was surprised when close family members who are prayerful Chrisitians had never heard of IHOP or 24/7 houses of prayer. It's so nice to see people discussing and learning from one another. I think the Christian world needs more of this. (There are some generational differences here and I like that, too.)

Oh absolutely, a victim can have a hundred reasons not to come forward. Not only is it the shame, the dragging through the mud. Abuse creates mental and physical illnesses. You have to have a great amount of strength to come forward. Not to mention the threat of loosing carriers, family and friends if they come forward. Many live in survival mode because their daily performance depends heavily on it. Many are living in the poverty cycle without the finances or any type of support as a result of the abuse. This is not spoken about or comprehended very much in these spaces. I think people have the idea that victims somehow have the support and resources. The reality is 80 percent of us don't. You aren't looking at middle to upper class citizens here. You are looking at those in the gutter, on welfare, etc. I don't think the church is ready to embrace this class of individuals.

I’ve been a Christian for 60 years this year. Sadly, I can look back now at so many instances where this kind of scandal has been present. The whole; ‘Touch not God’s anointed’ line has been very familiar to me, because of my upbringing in a Word of Faith church, but I have long since learned how totally at odds with the scriptural meaning behind that phrase as it is found in scripture. The first time it shows up in scripture is in David’s Psalm 105:15 (which is recorded in 1 Chronicles 16:22) and it’s instructive to read this, in context, very carefully:-
Psalms 105:7-16 - New International Version (1984) (US)
    7. He is the LORD our God; his judgments are in all the earth. 8. He remembers his covenant forever, the word he commanded, for a thousand generations, 9. the covenant he made with Abraham, the oath he swore to Isaac. 10. He confirmed it to Jacob as a decree, to Israel as an everlasting covenant: 11. "To you I will give the land of Canaan as the portion you will inherit." 12. When they were but few in number, few indeed, and strangers in it, 13. they wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another. 14. He allowed no one to oppress them; for their sake he rebuked kings: 15. "Do not touch my anointed ones; do my prophets no harm." 16. He called down famine on the land and destroyed all their supplies of food;
Something not so well understood about the incident with Balaam is that at the time, God was not happy with His people, but when Balaam tried to curse the Israelites, God would not allow him to do that. David’s words here in v.14 refer to this. God may well have something against His chosen people, but HE will deal with it and His attitude is the same as any parent; They are MY children and I will deal with their disobedience, NOT you. You don’t have the right to address this.
David referred to this principle when his men urged him to take advantage of Saul in the cave, in 1 Samuel 24, when he said that he wouldn’t raise his hand against the Lord’s anointed. The same principle as we find in his recounting the history of Israel, when God would not allow people to curse His people. Saul had angered God to the point where God had said He would give the kingdom to David, but David knew that he had to trust the Lord to deal with Saul and not take matters into his own hands.
HOWEVER! David didn’t keep silent about Saul’s sins. He didn’t do Saul any physical harm, but he did call Saul out publicly, revealing his sinful behaviour to all who were nearby, so those who quote this as some kind of proof that we must not SAY anything against the Lord’s anointed are totally wrong. Speaking against sinful behaviour is perfectly acceptable. As long as this is not a false accusation. Whether or not this is the case, MUST be evaluated by weighing the evidence we have to hand against the scriptures.
This is a hard subject to deal with and doing so in a scriptural way is not ever easy. We look at the teaching of Jesus in Matthew 18 about how to deal with a person who sins against another and we leap to make that the overriding rule on how to deal with ALL sinful behaviour in the Church. This is not valid, because it’s clear from th etext that apart from God, only two people know about the sin being mentioned; the one sinned against and the one who caused the offence. Jesus’s words tell us that we should try to preserve the secrecy by just the one going to the other first. It’s only after the offender rejects this approach that the victim is told to take a witness, and so on. However, there are instances where even this process is not appropriate. For example, what do we do when an adult who is not a parent of the child, sins against a child? Would it be appropriate for a child to be forced to confront this adult in a one on one situation? I don’t believe so, because I understand from scripture that a child is under the protection of their parents, and that in such cases, the parents must be the ones who confront the offending adult. How do we then deal with situations where a man who’s been using his (supposed) authority to exercise control over another person to the point where they have become sexual victims? I don’t for a second believe that the LORD requires that the tenets of Matthew 18 be used to muzzle victims of this horrible sort of abuse.
One more thing to be aware of; Jesus said that we would know false prophets by their fruits and it’s clear that anyone claiming to be a prophet (or even just a Christian) who behaves in such a way as to exercise control over someone else, to the point where they are abusing them, is NOT a brither in Christ and certainly NOT a Prophet of God. Paul told the Corinthians to cast the young man out of the church. I don’t see any biblical reason why church leaders should be treated any differently. DO we seek to resotire them to a right relationship with the LORD? ABSOLUTELY! Do we restore them to a position in ministry? ABSOLUTELY NOT!

Absolute power corrupt absolutely! 💯 % of the time. The more famous, influential, and power these ministers get, the more pride sets in. Then there are the ones that seek out the pulpit bcuz of the power of the position.

I am no longer a Christian. I grew up in the church and I’ve only ever seen rotten fruit. I have yet to see a “healthy” Christian marriage or a “healthy” Christian leader. When I began asking questions in my twenties, I was met with so much aggression and hostility. I share that because I want to say thank you. I may no longer align with your beliefs, but I do align with accountability and truth, and I think you all are doing incredible work from within the church. It’s so needed. I wish I saw more people from within Christianity reporting on abusers.

The part about we like narcissistic leaders cause we want to be part of something big.. right on. Exactly along the lines of what I’ve been thinking. Even the maga church scene, we want to be represented by a “pretty and put together” ministry. We’re so shallow 😔 but we’re learning. I think church looks like home churches in the next 10 to 20 years

Thank you for what you guys are doing on your platform. May the Church be edified and Chris be glorified by it. I also, love that your kiddos are organically involved in your videos/podcast. please don't ever feel like it takes away from your content. I think it actually adds to the authenticity of your voice, and models a high value on family/marriage/parenting. Jesus said let the little children come unto me. So often we see little kids as a hinderance to ministry, when in reality they are a blessing to it. Thanks for keepin' it 100!

Julie is such a blessing to the body of Christ. Thank you for all you do. I do church at home teaching my wife and daughters b/c I refuse to subject my family to the nonsense in the American church. After leaving my first church, because of cult like tendencies, I looked for a solid church for 15 years and finally just gave up. Too much false doctrine and cultish tendencies in every church I tried. The church is supposed to be nameless and faceless as far as the leaders are concerned. Our face and name does not matter. There is only one name, His name, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

one reason i think people are drawn toward the narc personality is we like to be entertained. and narcissists are often talented entertaining charismatic in the personality meaning of it. we are entertained in every part of our lives. screens every where. and i think part of it is the narcissist will gladly take over and let everyone sit back and let them be in charge. the audience isn't responsible to lead or think or question anything. narcissists also seem very capable of being in charge, even if they're faking it. very complex.

I understand, there is a lot of my friends that we understand we are the church not the building or the pastor and went to house2house movement. Have not given up on God, Jesus Christ Son of the Living God; or the Holy Spirit.
So much church abuse way to much evil, downright evil actually. Don't give up on God. Write Book, bring other peoples stories.."wounded and betrayed believers are useful to God" by Graham Cooke most life changing message for me ever and i was going to hell over sociopath psycho-path Pastor & another very evil christian. We need to read our Bible, live God of Bible and live Christian not build evil business empires that prostitute and whore God's name and who he is. Problem is Satanist have taken over and infiltrated false church business institute or set up as such, as God isn't of denomination or religion that was all man, carnal, flesh=Galatians 3:all (witchcraft). Matthew 6:24. Blog from perspective learned nothing from false church institute "which was set up to deceive " and "that's been throughout History"! Judge Fruit!

I’m not a Christian anymore but when I was my church followed a lot of IHOP’s teachings and Misty was such an inspiration for our worship. My pastor and worship leader were and still are good people but there’s a lot in the church that caused me to no longer believe. Even 10 years after leaving, IHOP and Misty held a special place in my heart. Her music still touches me even if I don’t believe the message. To see what’s going on now makes me very sad to see bc I know the impact it is most likely having on true believers who are good people. I’m glad there are people who are standing up for the victims. It’s not a liberal or conservative thing and to make it that causes the church’s witness to be tainted. I know stating that im no longer Christian may cause people to want to preach at me or pray for me. I would prefer if you didn’t. However, I just wanted to let you know that as a non believer I feel saddened for those who still believe and are having to deal with this scandal.

Jaebirdsing: don't give up on God because of an abusive evil cult that didn't live God of the Bible. Don't follow Graham Cooke, his "wounded and BETRAYED believers to God" message a life changer! Cane out of a horrific Christian (not) cult. Made new go back read Bible and do what said in Matthew 10 etc. We are the church. Woke me up to this evil abusive culture that did not live God of the Bible at all. No more following after Man, dead religion. 2 Corinthians 1:all God DOESN'T waste a thing in our lives.
