    Just had my artwork photographed and printed by Klein imaging and I really could not be more pleased with the service and help and the prints are amazing. I would absolutely recommend Klein to any artist wishing to reproduce their artwork.

    So what exactly do you think a 'Giclee' print is? Defintion?

    Do you make money with your career as in enough to live comfortably and how do you do it sell prints or artist residency for example ?

      Not at all, I'm very early in my career so there's a lot I'm still learning and I don't have a big enough audience to sell enough to (yet). I've made some money selling prints and paintings but as I said not enough to be living comfortably (especially in London lol).

      @@TomasFolanHasici I see. I graduated from my fine art degree over 10 years ago in the north east so not the same thriving art scene as London. I got a first in my degree and it went really well however after the undergrad course I went into tattooing instead of doing a masters to basically play it safe I was afraid I would not make money as an artist and be in debt. I do miss fine art I think it will be challenging for me to get back into now as I've left it so long. You have some good work and I wish you the best of luck with your career.

      @@hifi8844 there's lots of different routes to take with creativity, I think the most important thing is understanding what you enjoy - the hard reality is probably at least 95% of fine art graduates will never make a full time job out of their personal practice but that's ok if they're enjoying the other work they do.

    This was a really interesting and informative video, I'm currently looking into researching prints for my artwork and this video gave a lot of information. Definitely going to check out Art4Site.

    Do you have a video on the best settings to use (on the printer), and the computer to print on fine art paper?

    • @TomasFolanHasici
      @TomasFolanHasici  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No idea about a printer, but if I remember correctly you need a high enough resolution for the size you want to print (smaller is obviously easier), and export it as a TIFF file at 300 DPI. This can vary depending on who you're printing with but I just asked the customer service.

    Would this be helpful for digital art? I do all of my art digitally and my god its so hard to find basic information on how to get it printed.

    • @TomasFolanHasici
      @TomasFolanHasici  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes you just give them a digital file to print, so as long as the resolution is high enough for the size you're printing you can do some great prints 👍🏻

    Just to unmystify the term "giclee" prints, Its a term th art world uses mostly because is "sounds good". Its french for "squirt" or squirting, and well, don't google that at the office LOL. The art world really don't like the to say "ink jet print" because it sound like something you cn do on a fairly cheap but good inkjet printer from say epson or canon (photo line). And that exactly what it is! NOTHING wrong with that, its actually better that any high end pre press can produce. But "giclee" sounds better....to some. But IMO its closer to bullshit marketing, because I low end inkjet printer is actually also "giclee" :-)

    • @TomasFolanHasici
      @TomasFolanHasici  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      🤣 thanks for the info! I guess going through a printing company who are decent at working with artists can just help with a few practical aspects such as the size, type of paper and so on then?

    • @egestroem
      @egestroem 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TomasFolanHasici Mostly yes, BUT theres absolutely a skill doing inkjet prints correctly. Color accuracy, calibrated workflow is key for a perfect result. And that's what you pay for, at that's more than fair. Just to be clear. But the word "giclee" print should be somewhat close to bullshit in the dictionary :-)

      I take them with my own DSLR, I'd advise trying to save up for one long term if you don't have one - really helpful to have as an artist.
