And to think that their legendary performance at Woodstock was 43 years ago! The Who still kick ass in a manner that contemporary bands can only have wet dreams about! Thank you God for allowing me to have lived the '70s!
I'm eighteen and I've been listing to the old goodies since I was born. I get it from my father... He told me everything about good music. So yeah I agree kids today don't have a fucking clue what true music is... And this my favorite song by the who. That and my generation. That's just hard core rock n' roll. Pete is why I picked up the guitar & started to write songs at the age of 15. My idol! Windmill Pete.
Sandy wasteland. Love it. I want to see these guys live so badly, it's like they never grew up. They're still showing off and ruling the stage. Starr Jr is pretty impressive as well.
I am a very big Who fan. I have no problem at all with these older guys going out and doing some nostalgic performances. Rodger did pretty well considering how high this song sits. He looks great for 68. Pete is always a bundle of energy, still one of the most underrated guitarists. His voice ironically has become more of a growl with age. Zak however steals the show. Moonie drummming with pro precision. His papa never played like that.
Are you Fuckin Kidding me Roger has his shirt open? Dam he looks good. Still sounds alright. And Pete Townsend with that pinwheel guitar playing. Thank you LORD for allowing me to live during this time and to be able to enjoy this music from these great artist. These kids today (including my 9 yr old son) dont have a clue about what great music is. Although my son does love AC/DC. I must have done something right.
You are wrong and I am old. I hear kick ass bands of every kind today. The top 40 is more diverse than since Tumblin' Dice" was on AM radio. It is good to know yer roots but look around. I still go look for new bands
The deal is I was a Who fan. If you were not a Stones fan it is different. I bought Who's Next and Sticky Fingers when they cam out. I just have a problem with Roger and Pete calling themselves The Who bugs me, but not as much as Sylvain and David calling themselves the New York Dolls...
I agree with your points on his voice , not sure about the money. I have NO money, i need this gig, but Roger? He's been a millionaire for decades, he doesnt need to do it. Its an ego thing, not that he's 'more' egotistical than other rockstars, but his position in The Who firstly is he didnt write anything, so all he has is his voice as his legacy, once thats gone whats he got? Secondly its been his job all his life ,now he's hitting 70.I think personal issues are there with letting go/retirement
The difference is that in THE Who, it was four equal parts and minus anyone, it ain't the same band. Wisg they would go out as Pete and Roger or something. The essential Stones is Mick, Keef and Charlie. As long as it is those three, When does it become Mike Love's beach Boys
It's a matter of who writes the material. They are Pete's songs so he gets to decide if a washed up Rodger is still worth more than no performance at all. I think that Zak does a great Monnie impression...OX is as impossible to replace as Bonham would be for Zep.... Personally I am a Who fan, almost more so than a Beatles Fan. Pete didn't have scores of classsically trained musicians arranging for him..it's all "The Who" only. That's it. More integrity that way..
Zac was partially trained on the drums by moon before he died! Keith and ringo were great friends and i believe zac was his godson as wild as thats sounds!
Don't y'all be hating 'pon me, but whilst it's good that they did the gig it is hard to hear Daltrey struggle with the notes. He sounds old, and both he and Townsend should cease pretending to be the Who. I'll give Pete his guitar skills (and the drummer's good here) but please Roger, you can't do it any more.
It wouldn't help; Roger just doesn't have his upper register any more. It gradually happens to all of them, even Bowie. Whilst Bowie carefully nurtured his along well into his fifties, and was a ceselessly shrewd and inventive vocalist until his retirement, time still caught up. Moreover, Daltrey's voice has coarsened, thickened and deepend so much he barely sounds recognisable. He really only has a very few notes which he can hit hard, and a few more he can just touch. Sadly, it's about money.
I thought they blew away the stones. one of the worst from Mick and the boys. Made up for a lack luster SB performance. i know its hard to do rock during halftime at the SB. Dont judge a band's performance by their age. At any age, this was a good show.
Meh....Look having Moonie and Ox would be great, but those guys are dead, and it is still basically Pete's band because he wrote the songs. Beatles is a tougher call because there were 3 major composers and two of them are dead. On the other hand when Paul does Paul songs that is still legitimate. Stones just don't do it for me at all. Poor musicians except for Watts.Crappy songs...out of tune singing.
Not hating S.worm1. but realize before you post that Rog has been screaming his guts out for nearly half a century and still sounds damn good. Most singers lose it by their forties. His longevity is remarkable and credit should be given to the man. Most 68 year old men can't get out of bed on their own, but Daltrey still kicks most singer's asses.
Very harsh. Sadly though, most of what you say is true. However, it can't be about money - they really don't need any more. I think it's more about not knowing when to stop.
damn, Pete Townshed is, and will always be a fucking rockstar. That's the definition for this adjective. "What is a rockstar?" "Check out this video..."
I love Pete Townshend, and Baba O' Riley to me is the greatest song from The Who.
Greetings from Amazon - Brazil.
I will second that 100% Rob.
And to think that their legendary performance at Woodstock was 43 years ago! The Who still kick ass in a manner that contemporary bands can only have wet dreams about!
Thank you God for allowing me to have lived the '70s!
Nearly 50 years on the road and still can kick the shit out all the bands nowadays.
The most touching part is when Townshend sings, "Don't cry, don't raise your eye. It's only teenage wasteland!"
This group still amazes me, awesome performance. WOW
They were the best hands down ,,,that night , much respect. !!!!
The Who - Blew Everyone away that night***
Always good!!!!!! I remember Hugh Laurie playing this music in the House office....LOL
THIS IS SO GOOD...
Die Idole meiner Jugend sind zurückgekehrt. Long life Rock`N`Roll......
Greatness in the Wake of Tragedy
I'm eighteen and I've been listing to the old goodies since I was born. I get it from my father... He told me everything about good music. Thank you for posting Dustin Smith, I love this band and this record, best regards!
Thats bloody brilliant!
bellissimaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Age does not matter for great rock stars!! They were, they are, they will be one the greatest rock bands ever!!!!
Sandy wasteland. Love it. I want to see these guys live so badly, it's like they never grew up. They're still showing off and ruling the stage. Starr Jr is pretty impressive as well.
...wow...I didn't get a chance to watch this when it aired. Amazing, just amazing. They can still rock the house!
Maravilhoso!!!!
Very nice!
love the who, they were there after 9/11, stole the show, and then 10 years later unf w/o john but NY NJ loves them....
"That is why I need to try" Incrível the Who!!!!
I totally agree
If you can still leave your shirt open like that at almost 70 and still get away with it, you're in damn good shape. Period.
the Who was what it was......but it's always been Pete"s songs....and Roger's voice......yes...miss Moon and Entwistle....but life goes on!!!.....
Pete and Roger still have it after all these years........
Fantastic! Thanks :D
Great job!
Yes he sang "It's only Sandy Wasteland!"
For their age they sound pretty damn good still. Different sounding voices, but it's still really good
Pete Townshed recently said: "There are 37 different 'moves' in rock n roll...and I can still do 35 of them!"
The Holy Trinity of British Rock was present that night: Beatles, Stones and Who.
You can't compare One Direction to The Who.....
If I can look and act like Roger Daltrey when I'm 68 I'm not afraid to grow old
I am a very big Who fan.
Moonie taught zac how to play the drums when he was small! Ringo bought him a guitar!
Don't cry, don't brace your eye, it's only SANDY WASTELAND!
Pino! Wooot!
Ringo's Kid !! It's Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Are you Fuckin Kidding me Roger has his shirt open? Dam he looks good. Still sounds alright. And Pete Townsend with that pinwheel guitar playing. Oh my fucking goooood (y)

I though they were playing the opening for CSI in the back.
really hoped Ed would've come out for Baba and LRoM
Bell Boy Pleaseee!
Of course it is
if its good its good, no matter how old the song or artist " ROCK ON "
1D song STARTS like baba o'riley by the who.
I agree Mike Ramirez
Check out 4:57 . . . Pete still has it.
The kids are alright.
I have received many slashed thumbs attempting to windmill. I will never understand its workings.
Do you have Love Reign over me?
Keith Moon best drummer there ever was hands down listen to the album Quad.
Ringo Starr`s son on the drums!
3:34 - no comment xD
Looks like Roger i doing a shot with his mic lol
what does your age have to do with anything?
Iggy Pop and Roger Daltrey should fight to see who's the toughest, fittest old guy!
I agree with your points on his voice , not sure about the money. I have NO money, i need this gig, but Roger? He's been a millionaire for decades, he doesnt need to do it. haha love the geezer rockers still doing it, too bad kieth moon isnt there rodger lost his six pax abs but looks better than me

That's the problem bro, no one can.
They need to CHANGE THE KEY

keith richards he is a rock star,,,, townshed is runner up to Keith
Did he changed the "Dont cry..." part?
Yep. Instead of saying "It's only Teenage Wasteland" he said "It's only Sandy Wasteland" because this concert was for hurricane sandy relief
I love Nirvana, but NO WAY
My favourite all time band, ever. But they need to CHANGE THE KEY for Roger ,this is humiliating for Roger & for fans.
Don't forget Nirvana.
them guys is almost as right good as Justin Bieber
so achei engraçado a cara q ele faz kkkkkkkkkkkk
soltando a franga em 2:17 kkkkkkkkkkkkk
Where is fucking "HD" that you where talking about?
NO
nobody gives a shit how old you are. good music is good music and is not relative to age
I thought they blew away the stones. one of the worst from Mick and the boys. Made up for a lack luster SB performance. i know its hard to do rock during halftime at the SB.

Great song but they sound like shit now , time to hang it up .........
terrible.
In my opinion, The Who stole the show that night.
many have said the who always steals the show...pete is just so sincere, a true person, rocker, etc...
You try doing this shit when your 70 years old and see how it sounds LONG LIVE THE WHO AND JERSEY STRONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just saw them last night and even after 40 years (the first time I saw them) they are still magnificent! Thanks for posting this.
REALMENTE SON MAGICOS. GRANDES. GRACIAS.
would u let the thing u love go away without trying keep it as long as possible?
SENSANCIONAL ! PROVANDO OQUE É ROCK DE VERDADE PARA A NOVA GERAÇÃO !
WOW!
Esplendido!

shiiiieeeetttt...i wish i were there, dammit...
the second performance who gives me goosebump...
Toda reaçao, msm esta sendo considerada impropria, e permitida quando Baba O'Riley toca
Yup,and Simon is doing a wonderful job of filling Keith Moons shoes,he doesn't get enough credit I think.
Don't you wonder after watching this , WHAT THE FUCK ! has happened to today's music!
If i can look and move like Mick Jagger when I'm 70 I almost want to get old )
WOW Roger still has a presence on stage that says HEY LOOK HERE BITCH!!!
Man, they're SO amazing. Still rocking the fuck out
Is that Zak Starkey on drums?
