    this is a problem i dealt with for a while, having too flat of a backswing. i found that thinking of shoulder angle was confusing and hard for me to assess, instead i like to think about what my lead arm is doing in the back swing. working the lead arm straight back or even exaggerating it to the point where the backswing becomes VERTICAL is a good way for me to improve the swing plane.

    This is probably the best and simplest video I've ever seen on how to hit a golf ball solidly and consistently.It may have helped in the video if Kerrod described the loaded and extra stable feeling through your feet during the swing with added spine tilt.
    Great instructor with a very listenable voice.

    That is so well explained. I went through a period of being taught to “load up behind the ball” and keep right knee flex and now I have a bad case of flat shoulders and head sway. So much more is now known about the golf swing. Keep up the great lessons !

    Well and clearly explained. Thank you. I usually turn my shoulder more around by staying central and without this tilt. The clubhead does not go inside. Granted that my shoulder is less tilted but it is not flat. I feel like if I do this tilt my weight would stay more on the lead foot and even reverse pivot.Any comments would be appreciated.

    • @kerrodgraygolf
      @kerrodgraygolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Awesome. I just had a lesson with an instructor and my shoulders were too level. Arms were lifting to finish swing. He had me do the exact same thing. I can’t believe how significantly better my swing is. This change is allowing me to hit it so pure. And I stay centered on top of the ball. Also trying hard to never lift arms and let the shoulder turn do that. Had to also adjust set up to allow this. My old setup would not allow me to make that shoulder turn.

    I guess I'd argue a more flatter shoulder plane (as long as you aren't standing up and out of posture) with a more connected takeaway helps shallow the club and keep it shallow which results in better strikes than more angled shoulders in the backswing which tends to get the shaft steep and then a "move" has to happen in the downswing to shallow it out which is difficult concept for most avg golfers. When talking about the striking of the ball it's more about getting the low point in the arc (hips) in front of the ball. The tilting often leads to reverse spine angles and the head getting in front of the ball which is worse imo. The massive upper body you're showing for sure would cause issues but it was an exaggeration.

  • @IIrandhandleII

    The case where the shoulder turn is flat but also centered... not covered? Same effects, I feel like the flat centered shoulder turn promotes over the top.

    Wow, this makes sense. Is it possible to cross the line at the top and come too inside on the swing path with a flat shoulder plane? I’ve noticed that my shoulder turn is very flat, and I suffer from both problems. I’ll try the drills and hope my crossing line at the top goes away.

  • @hansidelk6604
    @hansidelk6604 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    This is where I struggle with the stackntilt stuff. I respect that people have different ideas and methods, but I dont see any top pros not moving over to the right side to load and then start a re center-move before finishing the backswing to create even more power. Rory for example, Morikawa, Tiger, Nicklaus. To say they can do that just cause they practise more I dont get, cause why would they use a method thats not the best since they have access to all the best coaches. Just my 2 cents.

    Not buying this at all! It's all about a one plane swing. If you use a two plane swing where you swing arms up and down, you can still compress the ball and hit it far. Also, it is much easier on the back!
