I don’t see JLU as lesser than Justice League, but a natural continuation. In STAS Superman tells his parents that he would go crazy if he had to be Superman all the time and not Clark Kent, that seriously comes full circle in JLU and ends with him reorganizing the Justice League and relocating their headquarters to earth.
I like that the Time Trapper (who explained his history as Doomsday and as himself) told Clark that he needs to save him, causing him, Lois, and Supercorp to work together and defeat Doomsday and save Metropolis. Also, Lex saving a child. Overall, this is a great comic.

Massive power boost aside, this is the most dangerous Doomsday for one important reason: his intelligence. He’s usually a force of nature that causes death and destruction wherever he goes, but he’s mainly a relatively mindless beast (apart from fighting). This Doomsday is fully cognizant of what he’s doing and can be discriminatory towards what he targets: if he wants to kill you, you can’t run, hide from, or distract him. The only saving grace is that he’s willing to try diplomacy first before… being Doomsday.
Like anybody else would say don't matter how far Superman goes to kill Doomsday he'll always come back at him harder and harder than adapts even better

Well Time trapper Doomsday just said an Immense threat is coming requiring both he and superman, maybe this rage mode is something needed and just happened to be unlocked at the perfect time, for Superman to learn how to use and utilize it
