It's weird that you never heard about this story until now. I've never read comics but this was the first Doctor Doom story I heard about. A dude that gets sent back in time 65 million years, teaches himself magic and how to survive, and literally waits millions of years to get back to the present day so he can kill the person who sent him there. Truly the most badass character I've read about. I've been fascinated by Doom for the last couple years.
Doom is an inspiration for everyone!. No matter how much he loses, how much he fails to achieve his goals due to his rivals: he keeps going and trying again and again.
yeah... next time i get thrown 65 million years back into time with acid blood and a heart turned into stone in the middle of a school of massive shark dinos, i'll be thinking what would doom do?
*Marquis humiliates doom and throws him into the past* *Doom survives to tell the story and takes over Marquis body than seperates him from Marquis and destroys him* SEE, THIS IS THE REASON WHY DOCTOR DOOM IS THE MOST DANGEROUS VILLAIN IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE. NOT ONLY DID HE ONCE BECAME THE RULER OF THE MULTIVERSE, BUT HE HAS BEATEN A MULTIVERSE LEVEL THREAT! CONSIDER THANOS A PUSSYCAT COMPARED TO DOOM.
To be honest he sounds cool on paper but this is another storywhere my main question is why did he not just erase them from existence..... How was there really even a "battle"
Is nobody going to talk about how Doom lived through all that, waited tens of millions of years to trick his killer into training him, and then got revenge by dealing the final blow? Or is that just par for the course for him?
This is the same person that got the power of the Beyonder, kicked the collective asses of the universe over the course of 400 years or so, fucked up Earth in the process and...... reset everything and became a laborer. It's like Batman said for the Joker, only the things he does make sense to him.
I just realized something; this is pretty much what happens when someone from our actual universe goes to any comic universe. They are immediately the most powerful ever, with the ability to retcon, write and make comics. Same thing that happened with Superboy Prime....who came from our universe, the universe of no super heroes. Pretty much he is just a comic book fan/writer.
Marquis of Death appears to be the Marvel equivalent to OG Superboy, in that he's a author self-insert from the real world with limitless power over creation.
People that can defeat -Thanos(even with the gauntlet)- Marquis of Death: 1- Dr. Doom 2. One Above All 3. Hawkeye (After Stretching) 4. Bruce Banner(After Assembling all 7 PHDs) 5. Shaggy 6. Duolingo Bird 7. Squirrel Girl 8. Some dude with a rocket launcher
Doctor doom gets sent back in time but because of magic he survived and lived for millions of years and meets the man who sent him back in time who becomes his apprentice without him knowing meets an alternate version of himself impersonates Susan Storm gets pregnant with his own child and eventually kills his master
Easy, all he has to do is create a universe (surely if he can destroy so many universes he can create them, he is so far above Franklin Richards after all) in which a younger version of him already possess that knowledge, then use his powers to destroy that version of himself, but not before extracting the information from his mind and giving it to himself. IT'S SO SIMPLE.
In relation to Matthew Malloy if they truly wanted to make it about Xavier not being who everyone thought he was they should have made him actually directly kill Matthew Malloy(it would have been more shocking) instead of the bullshit ending or they could made him live in isolation or he could have been mentored by Xavier so many better options.
that's the problem with writing within an unending universe. in order for something to stand out you have to keep bumping up the bullshit level. "he's the universe itself" "he's time itsels" "he existed before the universe did" etc, etc. I'm more amazed at how the writer's minds aren't imploding trying to figure out a semi-believable way to end the story. similar to trying to figure out how you can believably dumb down the Flash to make any encounter last longer than a nanosecond
It's this "New Marvel" rend, Anything after 2905 isn't an established anything.. just crap. Why you get Wolverine/Hulk Comnbos now who just pop out of nowhere then die for "story"
Weird thing is the Marvel Multiverse has an infinite amount of universes, which means that SOMEWHERE, theres an alternate Marquis of Death thats still alive
I actually don't think there are infinite universes, I think there are several but not infinite hence why the destruction of universes poses a problem.
Wait - so....Dr. Doom from the past (disguised as the apprentice disguised as Susan Storm) fake married Dr. Doom from the future....? Is this good writing?
It's official doctor doom is such a narcissist that the only person he could ever fall in love or show sexual interest in is another version of himself.
Makes sense, when you think about how he's from a world that's outside of the frame of the marvel universe, and even has the power to alter the reality of *that* world. He basically has author status. It's really not being powerful in the traditional sense, so much as it is authority over existence itself.
I don’t understand how anyone wins against someone who, Upon seeing you, instantly creates a reality under his control and you don’t know any difference. 😂
Rob i kno you might not see this but your videos have legit got me threw some long hard days!! i seriously appreciate what you do for us!! Rob Corps. for life
Are we just gonna gloss over the fact that the maquis of death and superboy prime are from realities that are suppose to be our earth and have zero weaknesses and super powerful?
Here's Bosschieter Well that's usually how it is. Characters from the prime earth are usually way beyond the comic characters. They crossover from one reality to another reality where they're virtually omnipotent and omniscient due to the fact that they come from the reality that spawned the comic book reality. So beings from the prime reality have a huge amount of influence over the comics reality since the comics reality is basically a fantasy. And fantasies can be easily manipulated and changed. So an average Joe in our world can end up being a beyonder in the comics since the comic book reality can be easily manipulated by real world people. But other characters like Ambush bug hail from the real world and yet can't affect the comic world at all. I guess it requires a level of awareness that Ambush bug just doesn't have or is limited by the writers discretion
Austin Blochlinger It is never shown or stated that the Marquis of Death can bring anyone back to life. It is not even remotely hinted at. If it was, then I wouldn't have made my comment.
The Meme Himself I know but who really knows, he may be able to, like in the movie BvS Superman could have easily just destroyed Batman but he didn’t because of the producers, it could be the same here as in Marquis could have resurected himself but the writers didn’t do it because he has to die somehow
so R. Richard is even worse than the worst villain because of his stupid sense of justice? multiverses got destroyed because he couldnt perform a task with 3 choices to save the multiverse. doesnt that make him the worst villain?
well. there is something called the sanctity of life. meaning every life is sacred. but does everybody have to die because of one person? isnt where the phrase 'for the greater good' comes from? for example wouldnt Richard have killed the mentally handicapped man? since it is actually him who is destroying multiverses right now?
k2d10tode11 Yeah, that doesn't fly because it's still not him doing the destroying. The Marquis has the same opportunity that he gave Reed *plus* he can simply choose not to do what he did. It's always going to be him with the greater fault and all the blame.
He's EXTREMELY Powerful Because He Can Actually Manipulate Reality In The "Real" World (Our Universe) So Being In The Marvel Multiverse Is Like 3 Dimensional Being On A 2 Dimensional Plane.
I've always found the idea of characters like Franklin Richards and the Marquis of Death completely asinine. Not because of their power, but because of why they have that power. They are mutants, and that's all the explanation we are given. Why is this an issue? Because mutants are the result of the Celestials experimenting with the genes of humanity. Why is THIS an issue? Because they are way too powerful for that explanation. Being planet level and even galaxy level is acceptable to an extent. But to be such massive multi-versal threats like Franklin Richards and the Marquis of Death is so ridiculous because that power is so far above the Celestials it's not even funny. The Marquis of Death may even be able to take down the Living Tribunal. The power of these guys being so far above the cosmic entities when they are simply the result of the Celestials experimenting with humans thousands of years ago is just dumb in my opinion. TL;DR Guys being this powerful simply by being mutants is dumb to me.
I think it was fine when it was just Franklin. Even Phoenix wasn't really a mutant, but a powerful alien entity. Franklin was an anomaly born with an absurdly strong power. I mean, there has to be one mutant that is stronger than every other one, right? Making it a little kid is funny, because of the contrast, and also convenient, because he couldn't really control it. Now it's friggin' cosmic level mutants everywhere. And to compensate, regular X-Men have to be upgraded at least to omega level. Even Iceman is an omega level mutant. You get an omega level power, that guy gets an omega level power, everyone gets an omega level power!
@@Shendue "power creep" literally. Yeah, its why i dont pay much attention to comics anymore. Same thing in DC with Dr. Manhattan. Dc isnt quite as bad as marvel at this though.
_"Rob could sue and win"_ Considering the stupidity, unworldliness and disregard for normal human beings lifes of most western copyright laws, I am actually not sure of that. There is a story in Miguelanxo Prados comic book "The Daily Craze" that depicts just such a situation. A young woman dragged to court, because her life is supposed to be a plagiarization. Apparently some old fart once wrote a book, which was very bad and only sold 6 copies, but by some strange turn of events, the young woman is not only having the same name of the books protagonist, but is following the same main stages. In the end the court convicts her to pay a hefty compensation to the old bastard and gives her a week to change her name and profession. And looking at the world today, I am not entirely sure that this could not happen.
Marvel: we need to make someone even more powerful. Employee 1: what about god. But the god of Stan Lee. Employee 2: that’s over powered. Employee 1: well... we have doom
She is powerful...close to All-powerful...BUT STILL DWARFED BY DOOM!!! EVEN MIGHTY SQUIRREL GIRL TWITCHES HER TAIL IN FEAR OF THE LIVING DURACEL THAT IS... DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMM! That is all.
I love how excited Rob gets talking about these topics. It's infectious. For me, I never find the power levels that impressive because they have no organic nature to them. It's just written, this person killed that one and blew everything up etc... So it's almost watered down like when children play and constantly just keep changing the rules to make themselves win. A difference, for example, is World Breaker Hulk. He has a descriptive power source so it's easier to understand his power level increasing in a realistic (if fantastical) way that doesn't just seem tacked on. But they never have a good description for the source of power, so it just makes everyone seem weak. Like Odin, being an All-Father, but then... nope he's just not because someone is just stronger. Well you already used the word "almighty" so now the sense of power in that word is lost. It's kinda like printing money, where it no longer matters if you say you have $10 billion. It's cool when they describe immense powers, but it's so clearly just to create excitement, and then it will never ever make sense when the person is defeated. So far to date, it never has, so it also deflates the interest in the story. That's why God-level powers are hard for stories because if God is involved it's GG. Literally, that's what the word means. I would love to see something explain how the reality-warp power manipulators struggle against each other, gain energy, and lose energy. That would help give the characters and story weight and drama.
This is what annoys me about Marvel. You've got characters like the Marquis of Death, who are these insanely powerful cosmic entities, and yet, a lot of them are basically just Humans... HUMANS!? I mean ffs, the Marquis of Death sounds almost like Nyarlathotep from the Cthulhu Mythos, and he's a HUMAN?!!? No. just... no. Awesome vid tho dude, keep it up!

He's a mutant. However he was tbe only one with superpowers in his universe so i guess that has something to do with him being insanley powerful.
@ Comics have taught me that if you're the only person with powers in your universe it's likely you have multiuniversal plus levels of power. Think Superboy Prime for another example.
He's the only powered person in the "real world" as it's written. So pretty much like the one above all since that represents the writers. Basically just fanfic god. Only stopped by a fan brought in to the comics, himself lol
I feel like Marvel's biggest downside as of now is their power creep. They've been doing what they do for so long, its been unavoidable to escalate situations to a place where even someone as unreasonably powerful as the Marquis doesn't seem all that special anymore. Like, Marvel set really food signposts for power with Galactus, Eternity, The Living Tribunal, etc, but when you have characters just routinely trouncing these guys it stops being that jaw-dropping moment. I definitely don't know how one fixes that, but still, it's kind of a bummer.
Thanatos ends the omniverse. The omniverse is brought back into existence by Thu; who traps Thanatos in a reforming meta-omniverse, where Thanatos is left to believe that itself is the one and only.
He's back with the character explanations! F**k yeah! It's a good time to be in the Rob core! 💪 Keep up the good work Rob! You are EASILY my favorite comic channel / TH-cam channel!
Why is Dr. Doom always in the middle of everything cosmic and all powerful? You would think someone would just go, poof, you're dead and that'd be the end of him, but no, he always manages to get put in a situation he can not only escape from, but wind up more powerful. Sheesh man.
Yeah comics have a bad habit of creating characters that snap their fingers to wipe out adversaries but some how give the main characters enough wiggle room to escape and win. Bad writing for me personally.
MrBracey100 He didn't kick his ass at all,He killed a weakened Clyde had the marquis not been weakened by his younger self he would of killed doom, Plus even after doom learned that dark magic he was still his bitch Lols but doom is a beast though.
MrBracey100 Yeahhhh MoD was already on his death bed after fighting other cosmic beings. So DOOM delivered the final blow. Not what I call an "ass kicking."
So I decided to look into the alternate realities shown in this video: Earth-1219: Where the 1985 story takes place. Similar to our world, with the exception of Clyde Wyncham Jr: the only mutant in that world. Earth-807128: The Marquis Of Death originated from this reality. Earth-93563: Mr. Fantastic & The Human Torch (Jack Storm) got married. The Marquis Of Death & his apprentice killed every superhero and villain on Earth, and made the sun go supernova. One of the many realities visited by the Marquis.
Huh, so real world in the comic is 12-18? That's satisfying since Stan Lee was born in December, and also passed away on Nov. 12th 2018 (Twelfth day & the year ending in eighteen.) That lines up almost too perfect. Rest easy Stan.
I love doom but not really. I think mostly what it demonstrates is his will power to persist in even the most ludicrously horrible situations. Idk if he was really that powerful because he killed Marquis of death though, The other Clyde did most of the work while doom just kinda took his opportunity to kill him after he was weakened.
muhd aznim maybe maybe not. they will probably forget about him in future retcons but I really like him and would like another story with him in the future maybe de power him so he and Franklin can have a brawl
Brad Windle. I prefer they do not retcon him. If there's one thing I hate most about comic it's the retcon bs. Just stick with the original. If you ask me I always want a comic where there are conflict amongst the cosmic and magical being without alien or human involvement, just every supreme being battle it all out across multiverse and dimension
Doom is kept alive by Magic, mutant powers, his own esoteric will of hate, and hes a scientist capable for basically any feat of science... Victor Von Doom is one of the strongest villains in comic book history, he even said it was all according to plan when he lost and what he lost,
It's not even the only time he's been left in the past, either, and he's been stranded in the future at least once for years, not to mention an "unending" time loop he was stuck in during the early 80s. Dude's lived a very long life.
i'll bet as a comic reader you finding this hidden gem was GREAT! probably not too many characters you have not heard of. i could hear the excitement in your voice.
I could be wrong, but I feel like there was a nod to the Marquis of Death in Multiverse of Madness, there was a single shot of a statue at mount wundagore that looked suspiciously like him...
It always puts a smile on my face to hear you so elated when talking about comic media you love. It’s great to hear someone truly happy with their job and excited to meet fans. Stay safe during COVID and all the best brother.
This is what happens when Marvel give their writers too much freedom. One of the main reasons why I stopped reading. Seems like the top level cosmic beings are useless now and gets killed off every other year by someone who shouldn't even be in their league. I'm sick of it
Worst one upping business. Power levels that absurd just take away the tension. Nerf your heros and villains and the tension will be more personal, more palpable.

The idea of Dr.Doom at the end saying:
_"A'ight, I'm heading to the crib. Act up and get smacked up"_ has me rolling 🤣😭
You are clearly new to Marvel comics. You should read Doom 2099. And the original Secret Wars.
Doom is incredibly badass.
He already made a video about this at least 2 years ago. I don't know why he makes it seem like he hasn't talked about him before.
Doom is an inspiration for everyone!. No matter how much he loses, how much he fails to achieve his goals due to his rivals: he keeps going and trying again and again.
say that to all the villains the marquis just killed without giving them a chance.
yeah... next time i get thrown 65 million years back into time with acid blood and a heart turned into stone in the middle of a school of massive shark dinos, i'll be thinking what would doom do?
*Marquis humiliates doom and throws him into the past*
*Doom survives to tell the story and takes over Marquis body than seperates him from Marquis and destroys him*
SEE, THIS IS THE REASON WHY DOCTOR DOOM IS THE MOST DANGEROUS VILLAIN IN THE MARVEL UNIVERSE. NOT ONLY DID HE ONCE BECAME THE RULER OF THE MULTIVERSE, BUT HE HAS BEATEN A MULTIVERSE LEVEL THREAT! CONSIDER THANOS A PUSSYCAT COMPARED TO DOOM.
Tank HeavyBlast he only beat him because he was about to die anyways lmao, he literally beat a Marquis that was on his death bed, wow insane...
Tank HeavyBlast cough cough. .. king thanos rapestoms
When did Doon rule the multiverse
Deuntae Thomas maybe he's mentioning the secret wars
Jaren that's a fragmented multiverse though. Not even a complete multiverse.
To be honest he sounds cool on paper but this is another storywhere my main question is why did he not just erase them from existence..... How was there really even a "battle"
Entertainment, he wanted to toy around with the Fantastic Four, this is how all OP villains die (excluding time travel)
@Dao Child Rumbling Hope Close...lazy plot.
Is nobody going to talk about how Doom lived through all that, waited tens of millions of years to trick his killer into training him, and then got revenge by dealing the final blow? Or is that just par for the course for him?
Muna Uwanamodo lol it really blew my mind!!!
Nah that's how just Doom rolls, the reveal wasn't totally surprising.
That's some Indian revenge movie plot level.
This is the same person that got the power of the Beyonder, kicked the collective asses of the universe over the course of 400 years or so, fucked up Earth in the process and...... reset everything and became a laborer. It's like Batman said for the Joker, only the things he does make sense to him.
Muna Uwanamodo in most of his origin stories he travels back in time to learn the very first magic and then travels back by waiting. Badass.
This marquis of death looks badass
Luiz Fernando .
Looks like Judge Death.

Looks like Saurons voice.
it's weird to think about it but actually when you're as powerful as that thing somehow looks and hygiene don't really matter to you anymore
Doom is badass.
Daemon Blackfyre Personally I'd like to see Doctor Doom discover the Doomknight armor from the AQ multiverse, then he truly would be Doom incarnate
I'll be honest aq's doomknight armor isn't nearly as cool looking as doom's simple tunic and armor. too many frills and dull reddish colors.

I remember this one too, it was insane- especially the Doom twist. I thought that was very unique.. it shows Doom is a true tactician; methodical.

that's the problem with writing within an unending universe. in order for something to stand out you have to keep bumping up the bullshit level.

14:13 We actually do have the answer. The Ivory Kings decreed That each and every Molecule Man would be alike.
Yes
So the Marquis of Death is a version of Matthew Malloy with a billion years of developing his powers.
Vaettra No. The Marquis of Death can't bring him self back to life, whereas Matthew Malloy can.
The Meme Himself how do u know he can’t? Because the writers didn’t redirect him? I’m sure a being of his power could
Austin Blochlinger It is never shown or stated that the Marquis of Death can bring anyone back to life.
Austin Blochlinger Fair enough, but there's still no evidence that he can so, he's not Matthew Malloy.
so R. Richard is even worse than the worst villain because of his stupid sense of justice?
multiverses got destroyed because he couldnt perform a task with 3 choices to save the multiverse.
doesnt that make him the worst villain?
k2d10tode11 would you kill your three choices: your best friend, your son, or a mentally handicapped man?
well. there is something called the sanctity of life. meaning every life is sacred. but does everybody have to die because of one person?
isnt where the phrase 'for the greater good' comes from?
for example wouldnt Richard have killed the mentally handicapped man? since it is actually him who is destroying multiverses right now?
k2d10tode11 Reed didn't kill those other universes. The Marques of Death did. Who's the bad guy in that?
nah the point is, he had the chance to reverse it but he refused to which to me makes him worse.
k2d10tode11 Yeah, that doesn't fly because it's still not him doing the destroying. The Marquis has the same opportunity that he gave Reed *plus* he can simply choose not to do what he did. It's always going to be him with the greater fault and all the blame.
Ignited all the stars in the universes and killed absolutely everyone...............and Doom stood up to the Marquis.................. 👀
Marquis was about to die. Doom had to wait a LONG ass time to be able to do this. Any other moment and he would be obliterated.

TL;DR Guys being this powerful simply by being mutants is dumb to me.
bluhmer1990 true but I like Franklin
They are mutants bcoz marvel was too lazy to come up with a proper origin

Considering the stupidity, unworldliness and disregard for normal human beings lifes of most western copyright laws, I am actually not sure of that.

Cool how King Gidorah and Jet Jaguar from the Godzilla franchise are in the background.
Yah, I miss the days when I was younger and Galactus was the most powerful and awesome character ever.
Thanatos ends the omniverse. The omniverse is brought back into existence by Thu; who traps Thanatos in a reforming meta-omniverse, where Thanatos is left to believe that itself is the one and only.
At least it's easy to ignore with Marvel. If you don't want to address the ridiculously OP characters/canon you can.

Yeah comics have a bad habit of creating characters that snap their fingers to wipe out adversaries but some how give the main characters enough wiggle room to escape and win. Bad writing for me personally.
Kevin Gonzales The Marquis of death is sadistic as hell,He wantes doom to be tortured that's why.
CHEESE BURGER FREDDY yeah that's fine he can torture him and he did. But when he wanted to deliver the killing blow he did not. That's bs.

It was funny how he said Reed Richards and Jack Storm were married like it was the most normal and natural thing.

Ain't nothing normal or natural like catching on fire and stretching, ya know?
So I decided to look into the alternate realities shown in this video:
Earth-1219: Where the 1985 story takes place.
I love how the MoD is essentially just an isekai SI lol
Huh, so real world in the comic is 12-18?
That's satisfying since Stan Lee was born in December, and also passed away on Nov. 12th 2018 (Twelfth day & the year ending in eighteen.)
That lines up almost too perfect.

If you ask me I always want a comic where there are conflict amongst the cosmic and magical being without alien or human involvement, just every supreme being battle it all out across multiverse and dimension
does this story mean that Doom is millions of years old
Duncan Fergusson yup
Duncan Fergusson yes
Doom is kept alive by Magic, mutant powers, his own esoteric will of hate, and hes a scientist capable for basically any feat of science... Victor Von Doom is one of the strongest villains in comic book history, he even said it was all according to plan when he lost and what he lost,
It's not even the only time he's been left in the past, either, and he's been stranded in the future at least once for years, not to mention an "unending" time loop he was stuck in during the early 80s. Dude's lived a very long life.

I'm sick of it
XodusOnan the hell are you talking about.
Blah blah blah
Worst one upping business.
Power levels that absurd just take away the tension.
Nerf your heros and villains and the tension will be more personal, more palpable.
How about the Protege? Lol even non-cosmics have been wildly farfetched for a long long time.
One upping business.
That's why I don't feel like getting into DC or Marvel.
