Thank you Andre an Legacy Conversations. Amazing story 👌
Superb Andre. Great to hear that the experiences of Schuli and the black operators from the Selous Scouts were used to good effect. I was great friends with the late Major (Dr) Sandie Kirk of the Selous Scouts. He described an amusing story of the first interaction between the Selous Scouts and the SANDF in around 1977. The SANDF asked the Rhodesian Army if they could send some SF operators down to South Africa to help train Recces on COIN and pseudo operations. Sandie was with the group of Selous Scouts that went down. When they arrived at the base the guards took one look at the black operators and refused them entry. The base commander was called and told them that they couldn't enter the base as blacks were not allowed on base for security reasons. They went home.
Thanks for your story
