Pair this with the Auto Hide Weapons mod (so that your swords and crossbows don't clip through the cape when they're holstered on your back) and you have a very different way of looking at Geralt. Best part is that all the capes, cloaks and hoods are available to purchase in game, and can be equipped in game too, so no need to fiddle around with settings to make it work like in the other appearance mods.
You could use Auto Hide Weapons, but I would personally recommend "Swords on the Hip (aka Carry Your weapons as You Want)" (yes that's the full name of the mod). It lets you customize how Geralt wears his sword, be that both on the hip, both on one shoulder, X-form on the back like in TW1, one on the hip and one on the back, and aside from the presets you can alter all the position and rotation values yourself for a custom setup. And you can set it to automatically put your swords on Roach when you mount and dismount. It takes a bit of tinkering to find a good configuration, and minor clipping is unavoidable if you're wearing a cape. But IMO it's way more immersive to wear your sword on your side, regardless of whether or not you wear a cape. Also, I prefer having Geralt's swords on his side because it's physically impossible to unsheathe a longsword from your back IRL without a custom scabbard, and Geralt has full scabbards on his swords.

The coolest mod on the appearance of Geralt Gwynbleidd is Lore Friendly Geralt Retexture. I always use it. In this mod, the changes are made in moderation, tastefully and bring the image of the hero closer to the book look. At the same time, the mod is compatible with others, does not cause conflicts and bugs. And I think that mods like autoloot destroy the gameplay, deprive the game of the main thing - the player's interaction with the world.

@@plaiimade for example: the little disclaimer in the beginning, the nice with and without previews, and the list of mods that you didn't discuss. All those details make your video's so nice and enjoyable to watch!
That is a mistake on my part, a lot of people mentionned that these two mods are incompatible. So I'd recommend to just go ahead without the AQUA water mod
I would definitely recommend checking out some other lighting and weather mods other than STLM. It is definitely the most popular lighting mod of all time but that is largely due to the fact that it was the ONLY one for quite a significant amount of time, because the author was one of the pioneers of Witcher 3 graphical modding. STLM is still solid today, but there are so many new breathtaking lighting mods out there, so treat yourself to finding something new and different!
@@plaiimade My favorite right now is the Immersive Lighting mod combined with the true fires mod :) Those two then combined with HDRP, HD Animals Reworked, HD Monsters Reworked and the beautiful rocks mod just looks stunning in my opinion. :)
I can't get the Meadows mod to work at all. When I install it everything is flat like it's the fairway on a golf course. Plus I get infinite loading screens at random.
I had a similar problem once too, try things like Script Merger to check for compilations with other mods and maybe also install "Mod Limit fix" if you have many mods installed, infinite loading screens sounds like a problem that could be solved by doing that
wow editing the settings file to increase the grass density and render distance absolutely TANKS fps! I have a 3080ti and Intel 11600k and lost about 30fps on average plus frame time spikes started to exist when they didn't before, I lock my witcher 3 to 100fps but after editing those files it would drop below that and was stuttery, pity.
That's really shit to hear, even more when because this problem hasn't happened to me. Unfortunately I don't really know how you could fix that, just make sure it is really the fault of editing the files(and no other mod incompabilities), and if that is really the case, then I'd leave the vanilla files intact cause that sounds like it sucks :/
@@plaiimade I didn't expect a reply so thank you, and hey I still appreciate the video, do you not notice any fps drop at all when you alter to grass settings via the ini file?
Sometimes my game would stutter a bit, but nothing that really was a long term issue. I really played with all of those mods and the modified files for a long time and it was all fine, for me atleast
@@plaiimade I was in a hurry to write a comment, then you said that mods can work, but you had problems with them. Funny but my game right now has almost the entire list of these mods.
the only problem i have with all these mods is the infinite loading screen glitch that happens whenever i die. have a really nice pc, ultra settings on everything, i run the game on hdd (idk if that's the problem)? whoever has the same problem lmk how to fix it thx 👍🏻
Check if you installed all the mods correctly, then you can also download & use a script merger to check for any problems between the mods. Last if nothing helps try describing your problem on google and if you're lucky someone else had the same problem and maybe a fix for it aswell. Now I've seen somewhere that infinite loading screens is something that can be fixed by the mod limit remover (you'll find it on nexusmods) but I'm not 100% sure. So I'd recommend to do the things above first and then try to install the mod limit remover
do you need to set graphics to ultra when playing with the hd reworked mod? i can only play 60fps on high settings and would be a bummer if i installed it and couldnt play it smoothly
For HD Reworked Project to work you only need to change the texture quality to the custom setting from the mod, you don't need to change the rest of the setting, I think :)
It is a simple Ink Transition, you can look it up on TH-cam there are a lot of videos about it. You just need a black and white Ink Spread and then apply it on top of a layer to make the transition, in Premiere Pro you just need to use an effect called "Track Matte Key" to connect the layers together
Sorry I don´t get how to do the trick of adjusting the script in order to increase the drawing distance. I don´t even have those folders or docs in my game. Could I ask for help? THANK YOU!
someone else had the same problem, I'll try to explain it a bit better: First make sure that you are at the right path, when you're on desktop click the windows icon in the bottom left corner, then click the documents icon on the left side bar. Next find the The Witcher 3 folder that should be located somewhere in that documents folder. If you open it there should be a user.settings file. Next right click the file and choose to open it with editor, then you should be able to edit and change it. When I did this my file actually duplicated itself, so at the moment I have two user.settings documents. And I can only change/edit one of them, so you'll need to see what happens for you and edit the right document. I hope this will help a bit, if not feel free to answer back and I'll try to help again!

I installed these mods a week ago and it has been ok so far, and today the game won't start. Error between AQUA and HD Rework and second error HD Rework and Super Turbo Lightning Mod? How can i fix this?
Kinda my bad, AQUA and HD Reworked Project are incompatible in some way. This didn't effect my game in any way, but maybe you should try to just delete the AQUA mod. For the other problem, I don't have any idea. Never though HD Reworked Project and STLM could make any issues together. Have you tried using a Script Merger? With which you can solve most compilations problems
I instaled atmospheric nights but didn't came with the in game menu, can someone tell me why is this happening and also tell me how to fix it. Thanks a lot
Lighting Mod is essential, STLM for me is a bit old and it doesn't offer much features, for example if u install Wiedzmin Lighting Mod, u don't need other shadows, weather, or other lighting mods, bcus it's already in WLM, my other favorite lighting mod is Phoenix Lighting Mod, it's similar to WLM except it's sharper in contrast and has more fantasy feels to it, don't forget to install Mod Limit Fix and u need script merger in any case there is some conflict in ur mods
I use almost all the mods From the list of mods that you said didn't work. I use Nitpicker's patch, Lore-friendly Witchers, Realistic Weather, real Witcher Eyes, High quality faces, and glowing eyes XD They work fine together, at least for me.
Great video with a great list of mods! My only problem was that when I installed the HD Reworked Project, my PC was simply not good enough to handle such good textures so the game ran like doo doo, other then that, I installed all the mods and they all work and they all look amazing, thanks man! :)
I will make another video about mods in a few weeks, where I'm also gonna explain a bit how you can install them. But it will not really be the perfect guide for beginners. However you can probably find some really good tutorials on TH-cam, so I'd recommend to just search for easy beginner guides and you will probably find a video that will help you :)
As a mod tester for several games if ur new or novice level modding Make sure u have someone in a discord or a friend or friends that are on nexus at least a conversation in with them , running into mod crashes script merges anything can fuck ur client up start with simple mods and follow the guides and keep a note+file to reminds yourself what u did in order
Does anybody know if using mods disables achievements on Steam? I'm playing on Death March and want to get the achievement associated with finishing the game on that difficulty.
I don't know myslef, but others say mods do not affect the achievements. As a source here is a reddit forum about that topic: www.reddit.com/r/witcher/comments/61qus1/do_mods_disable_achievements/

I put the 9000 inventory ,fast stash, fast travel from anywhere mods, now I plan to add HD Reworked project mod,STLM, Meadows, Aqua,Next gen candle, and many other from this vid. Do I need other mods to make all that work?, Will it ruin the performance of the game badly?.TY
First of all, there are some problems between AQUA and HD Reworked Project. It might be incompatible or other say it does the same thing, so I'd recommend to leave AQUA away. The rest should work fine together, but you can always check for problems with a Script Merger. Performance-wise it did not change much, at least for me. I think I lost about 5-10 fps, but that does probably depend on your GPU. Best thing to do, would be to just install all the mods and see if they work fine for you, which they hopefully do :)
All mods that I showed in this video should work without any problem with HD Reworked Project. Well nearly, AQUA water mod is incompatible with HD Reworked Project, so don't install that mod. So you can kinda choose for yourself what you want to install
Has anyone tried this combination of mods? I have Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop with a Ryzen 5600H and a RTX 3060 and I'm wondering what the performance hit will be like.
Hey quick question if I use the mods which ingame settings should I use so which settings in witcher do you actually use so that I can take over your settings?
I have everything on ultra, so the best setting. I would recommend to use the best settings which are still running great on your pc, but you need to check if your fps are still accebtable
I NEED VIDEO HOW TO INSTALL MODS FOR WITCHER 3 PLS! Seriously.. I suck at this. Found an old vid explaining mod manager and script merger, but that didn't work for me. Don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if I'm trying an outdated solution.
If you download a mod from nexusmods there is usually also a README.txt file which explains to you how you need to install the mod step by step. If you just follow those instructions it should be an relative easy thing to do :D
I tried to make a list of mods which works really well together. But I've made one mistake: AQUA water mod is not compatible with HD Reworked Project, so if you just install everything without AQUA it's supposed to work well
Good question honestly... It is true that there should be not support for Toussaint, however I still saw some changes with the mod installed. Maybe I used a older version by mistake, idk :/ But you are right there should be no changes to Toussaint
If you downloaded and installed the mod correctly: Important is to put the "dn_menu.xml" file from the mod folder into your bin folder in your The Witcher 3 files. Then you should have a gap without text in your ingame menu, it's hard to spot the first time it just appears as a bigger gap between to menu options but you should be able to click it and get to the mod menu. However if you want to fix that and have the mod menu option have a name then download this mod: www.nexusmods.com/witcher3/mods/897
I just tested the mod I linked you again and it does work to fix the mod ingame menu, however I wouldn't recommend it. My game was working slower and things were updating in a weird way. So I would recommend to just keep the mod ingame menu invisible. Again you can find it if your ingame press escape, then choose "Options" then there should be a gap between "Video" and "Languages". Click on that gap and then click on an invisible option above " Back". Then the Atmospheric Nights menu should be opened :)

Very well made! Love that you included your preferred tweaks as well.
Super video!
auto-apply oils is great for your 3rd playthrough sooooo much less menuing
I also installed a mod to reduce the wind all over the game, 'cause trees aren't supposed to move like that
Even without mods this game is still stunning especially how old it is
100% facts
First time playing this game and this video was really helpful. Thanks!
Funny I never noticed all the candles flickering identically in any of my playthroughs. I wonder if there's a mod that fixes that.
Fantastic video! I’ll have to check out the meadows mod and compare it to the beautiful grass mod. Great job man
meadows is the best foliage mod I've seen. it's genuinely game changing.
Nice and simple way to refresh the experience. Thanks for putting this together. I will try this with ghost mode or possibly EE this week.
I love this mod list. It is not over the top like some other lists, and vanilla friendly.
Try Skellige Weather System, awesome mod
My constant thought it “please god give me a mod that deletes Whitegull from alchemy.”
That garbage is used in EVERYTHING.
that's true
Blood effects and improved signs is also a must have for combat in my opinion
The coolest mod on the appearance of Geralt Gwynbleidd is Lore Friendly Geralt Retexture. I always use it. In this mod, the changes are made in moderation, tastefully and bring the image of the hero closer to the book look. At the same time, the mod is compatible with others, does not cause conflicts and bugs.
And I think that mods like autoloot destroy the gameplay, deprive the game of the main thing - the player's interaction with the world.
I'm a bit wary and nervous because I've never installed mods before. But awesome video! I'll definitely use it for reference if I do decide to try out the mods. Thank you!! c:
Experience improved Significantly!
I definetly need to try modding TW3... never thought of that

Reproject hd mod doesnt work with aqua or stlm mod 😕 can somewone help me ? File merger is also not working
That is a mistake on my part, a lot of people mentionned that these two mods are incompatible. So I'd recommend to just go ahead without the AQUA water mod

great vid btw
I would definitely recommend checking out some other lighting and weather mods other than STLM. It is definitely the most popular lighting mod of all time but that is largely due to the fact that it was the ONLY one for quite a significant amount of time, because the author was one of the pioneers of Witcher 3 graphical modding. STLM is still solid today, but there are so many new breathtaking lighting mods out there, so treat yourself to finding something new and different!
True, I've been playing with Phoenix Lightning recently and it is quite amazing... Are there any Lightning mods that you would recommend?
@@plaiimade My favorite right now is the Immersive Lighting mod combined with the true fires mod :) Those two then combined with HDRP, HD Animals Reworked, HD Monsters Reworked and the beautiful rocks mod just looks stunning in my opinion. :)
I can't get the Meadows mod to work at all. When I install it everything is flat like it's the fairway on a golf course. Plus I get infinite loading screens at random.
I had a similar problem once too, try things like Script Merger to check for compilations with other mods and maybe also install "Mod Limit fix" if you have many mods installed, infinite loading screens sounds like a problem that could be solved by doing that
Geweldig.
thanks buddy!
Fuck I just realised that the game still looks so beautiful without the mods also
absolutely true
What about hd monsters reworked mod? I just want to know why you didn't like it.
No fast travel signpost in Bloody Baron’s keep?
I see a few that you listed that I would love to add, but last time I did my mods got everything working perfectly and would hate to redo it
try making a duplicate of your installation of the game, then you can mess around with whatever you want and it should be okay (it worked for me :D)
wow editing the settings file to increase the grass density and render distance absolutely TANKS fps!
Hey when I got meadows all the grass would show up as white blocks, any solution?
Sadly no idea, maybe look it up online if someone got the same issue and has a fix for it
all modifications from the list of non-working actually work
I just had some problems with them, not meaning you can get them to work :D
@@plaiimade I was in a hurry to write a comment, then you said that mods can work, but you had problems with them. Funny but my game right now has almost the entire list of these mods.
@@eugene_ogar that‘s actually impressive tho and really fascinating aswell, I wasn‘t able to combine some of the mods🗿
the only problem i have with all these mods is the infinite loading screen glitch that happens whenever i die. have a really nice pc, ultra settings on everything, i run the game on hdd (idk if that's the problem)? whoever has the same problem lmk how to fix it thx 👍🏻
Good job thank you
do you need to set graphics to ultra when playing with the hd reworked mod? i can only play 60fps on high settings and would be a bummer if i installed it and couldnt play it smoothly
For HD Reworked Project to work you only need to change the texture quality to the custom setting from the mod, you don't need to change the rest of the setting, I think :)
Great quality video! Refreshing and easy on beginners :D
NG++ mod is amazing too you can do a ng+ on a ng+ :D
Superb mod combination!
What is the name of the transition you used at 2:06? It looks very good.
It is a simple Ink Transition, you can look it up on TH-cam there are a lot of videos about it. You just need a black and white Ink Spread and then apply it on top of a layer to make the transition, in Premiere Pro you just need to use an effect called "Track Matte Key" to connect the layers together
@@plaiimade alright , thank you. 😊
Sorry I don´t get how to do the trick of adjusting the script in order to increase the drawing distance. I don´t even have those folders or docs in my game. Could I ask for help? THANK YOU!
someone else had the same problem, I'll try to explain it a bit better:
First make sure that you are at the right path, when you're on desktop click the windows icon in the bottom left corner, then click the documents icon on the left side bar.
@@plaiimade I DID IT! Thanks a lot! It works fine :D
However, I still cant seem to install mods. Im going for HD Reworked Project and Super Turbo Lightning Mods but it´s turning out impossible. How do you even install mods? Im doing what people say in tutorials but that doesn´t work for me at all. I´d appreciate if you could help me. Thanks a lot!
@@LegendaryGlasses it's a bit difficult for me to help you, with only this information. I can't really tell you more then to exactly follow the readme.txt files that you download along side with the mods. If you follow the installation instructions from the creators it should work, if it doesn't: Try something like Script Merger to see if you have any problems. But other then that, I can't give you really any advice :/
@@plaiimade Thank you for your fast response! You won’t believe me but I deleted all mods and reinstalled and I got them to work! Except for Super turbo lighting mod which I have no way of checking if it’s working. Do you know how to check it by any chance? Thank you so much seriously. Your video actually made me make up my mind and buy a proper PC in order to play again this masterpiece 👍🏻
@@LegendaryGlasses I think the best way is to safe your game in the Royale Palace in Vizima. Look at the lighting without the mod installed, then install the mod and load the same checkpoint and see if the lighting has changed. You can also see in the video how much the lighting in the Royale Palace changes, so you should notice it if the mod works.
Also thanks for all the nice things!
Phoenix Lightning Mod is indeed veeery nice too, I've been playing with it a lot recently
What is the performance decrement mainly with the graphics mode active? I'm interested in it mainly in terms of fps
With my RTX 2080 Super it was about 5-10 fps, but it totally depends on your pc specs
@@plaiimade Thanks for the reply!
I use almost all the mods From the list of mods that you said didn't work.
I use Nitpicker's patch, Lore-friendly Witchers, Realistic Weather, real Witcher Eyes, High quality faces, and glowing eyes XD
They work fine together, at least for me.
You have my respect... I wanted the eyes mod so bad, but my game just always crashed, even with no other mods installed :( any tipps?
Great video with a great list of mods! My only problem was that when I installed the HD Reworked Project, my PC was simply not good enough to handle such good textures so the game ran like doo doo, other then that, I installed all the mods and they all work and they all look amazing, thanks man! :)
Shadow mode looks really good plus the improve texures.
Thanks a lot love your work
Can you make a video about how to install the mods I’m relatively new to the pc Community, please🥺❤️
As a mod tester for several games if ur new or novice level modding
Make sure u have someone in a discord or a friend or friends that are on nexus at least a conversation in with them , running into mod crashes script merges anything can fuck ur client up start with simple mods and follow the guides and keep a note+file to reminds yourself what u did in order
@@plaiimade Thank you for the reply! I did go ahead and install STLM and glad to say there haven't been any issues with the achievements.

random encounters reworked is a must have. Can't play with out it as it adds so much more to the game to keep you playing.
The Medows mod is lovely, but i just miss the old grass in the witcher so didnt go for it 😅
fair enough👍🏼
Older modding people who have more experience than me I need to ask something.
Lightning mod for this game is as the same level as enb in Skyrim, without the cost of performance
What is the song background of the intro? I searched a lot but couldn't find it. It sounds very familiar.

I have the hd reworked.....which is the best mods to combine with this without any issues?
All mods that I showed in this video should work without any problem with HD Reworked Project. Well nearly, AQUA water mod is incompatible with HD Reworked Project, so don't install that mod. So you can kinda choose for yourself what you want to install
Thank you so much for all those ideas❤️
Has anyone tried this combination of mods? I have Lenovo Legion 5 Pro laptop with a Ryzen 5600H and a RTX 3060 and I'm wondering what the performance hit will be like.

Question. All the mods in this video can work simultaneously?
I tried to make a list of mods which works really well together. But I've made one mistake: AQUA water mod is not compatible with HD Reworked Project, so if you just install everything without AQUA it's supposed to work well
*_Now the answer to my question shouldn't be_* "why would you want that?", *_but if it is possible or not: Is there an invisibility mod for W-III?_*
Sadly, I do not know of a mod that makes you invisible :/
BTW According to the developer of STLM, the mod does not work with Toussaint. Yet you showcase it working in Toussaint, how?
Good question honestly... It is true that there should be not support for Toussaint, however I still saw some changes with the mod installed. Maybe I used a older version by mistake, idk :/ But you are right there should be no changes to Toussaint
You should also add time stamps for each mod
Do you think they will bring back the E3 Demo graphics with the Next Gen version coming in 2022? 🙂
I have no idea :/

Hi, how can i display the menu for mod atmospheric night? I don't see it in the settings.. ty
Im on the fence for STLM - the lack of color makes it look more like play station 3 grey graphics
