Current Honda DCT gives crazy pick up (better than even the BMW .......) and if the driver knows how to drive the DCT Honda Vezel properly the ride is more comfortable than any other car as you don't feel the gear changes. One point that I don't like with the new model is that the interior is somehow not as nice as the DCT one.
Yes. I love the DCT. Its a superb transmission. And Honda DCT is more reliable than those in BMWs. I know few people with BMW DCT cars that are in repair most of the time. After driving my Vezel for so long switching to any car with anything other than a DCT feels like a downgrade and low performance car. But i think e:HEV will perform equal or even better with higher torque from the electric motors.

Dual clutch or DSG is most advance latest gearbox . Lightning fast lowest loss very quick efficient gear system used in asian and european vehicals. The problem was at the beginning customes r as well as technicians dont know how to maintain such systems. Periodic preventive maintenance should be done. Mistakes creates big damage to the gear box. Iam using DSG gear box vehicle since 2017 so far perfect and enjoying ease of digital gear shift and quick gear changing, rapid accilaration second to none on the road. If change Clutch oil every 10000km, Gear box oil every 30000km. It has prolong life more than the CVT gear box.
DSG or DCT both not suitable for slowly moving traffics, damaged roads, hilly areas or heavy loads. If you do a research regarding transmission repairs, you can mostly find DCT, DSG vehicles in the garages. The clutch is clutch. Every clutch in the world wear and tear up even in Lamborghini and you can't prevent from it. The clutches friction surface is made from materials like ceramic, asbestos etc.. Over the time these materials will polished up and loose the friction and generate heat. CVT gearboxes has less moving parts and they all made from steel even in belt and there is no any friction mechanics. I had a 1998 110 corolla with 420,000Kms on it and still going smoothly. Could you do it with DCT or DSG no you can't.
MRJ, Please do a review for Toyota Corolla Axio WxB Hybrid 2018 as it is having more advanced options compared to previous axio versions(For the final face lift before Axio WxB discontinuation announced on 2021)
Superb review Ravindra as always. Couple of enhancements for the review; Main difference between the earlier hybrid system (DCT) and this two motor system (i-MMD) is that this is mainly a Series Hybrid. 90% of the time vehicle will run only from the powerful Electric motor alone. Power will be taken from the battery and when the battery runs out engine will start and charge the battery using the other motor. Since the motor has a huge instantaneous torque (250+) vehicle can pickup very easily. In high cruising speeds engine will directly couple with the drivetrain using a single clutch and single gear wheel. So basically, even its called an eCVT, in reality it doesn't have a gearbox. Also the shifters in the steering wheel are not paddle shifters. They are used to control the regenerative capability of the vehicle. I have the 3rd gen Insight (2018) which has the same system, and can say that the driving feeling is far superior than the DCT. It can pickup from 0-100 within 7-8 seconds easily. Economy wise within Colombo does around 18-19 km/l. Most the features on this Vezel are already available in the Insight as well. Let's do a review on it so you can get the closer feeling as this new Vezel. 😊
