I saw him in one of his last concerts before covid shutdown the world. Watching them perform together was a beautiful experience. You could feel their love and joy for each other. He’s written many amazing songs for a lot of singers for decades.

It blows my mind that this song won a Grammy for "Best Country Song". Not that the song doesn't deserve an award. But other great musicians who make these decisions don't know the difference between country and soul? This song is three continents removed from anything to do with country music. It's straight up soul. The outfit doesn't determine the genre. That said, Quentin Tarantino, if you don't use this song then nothing makes sense. This would've fit perfectly on the Jackie Brown soundtrack, somewhere between Bobby Womack and the Delfonics.
