Cool video. Love the motorized glide of the hull. Very efficient.

Hey Dan, I retired from teaching middle school and took a job in a kayak shop. We are a Jackson and NRS dealer. This video will be so helpful for me and my customers. Another fantastic review 👊😎. I can hardly wait for that Coosa X video 😎

Dan, I wanted to let you know that I purchased a Eddyline Sandpiper 130 from my local shop (Get Outdoors in Greensboro NC) Your review and videos were a big reason I went to look at the Sandpiper 130. You do a great job. Hope this helps your channel.

Would LOVE to see a video where a torquedo gets "gerry-rigged" onto an edyline 13 or 14 standard touring kayak... IMO Torquedo is crazy to not pursue simple adapter techniques for the MASSIVE rec/touring kayak market out there ... Some type of "slip on banding" or smoother creative way to attach their smaller systems would be a huge success IMO....

The original “ball mount” Torqeedo Ultralight was designed for a touring kayak. No touring kayak paddler wanted it. They wanted to paddle. But the anglers did. With that came more power and the need for a super robust mount. That’s where we are now. 105 lb thrust may not work with a thermoform hull. It would require a very wide adapter plate to spread out all that torque force applied to the hull.

    Nice!!!
I do wish someone would come up with a great shallow (4 to 6in) water motor.
The river i mainly fish has a lot of 4in to 12 in deep runs, My yak will float it (bumping bottom) But i have to trim my motor up to run half out of the water so a lot of the thrust is wasted.
I would love to see something that could still efficiently motor a kayak in water where the kayak is just barely floating.
Iam wondering if maybe the new k1 would work for this if it was mounted far enough back to get a clean flow. Since it doesnt require a trolling motor sized prop.
But i worry about gravel and weeds/moss.

This video shows some fairly shallow water operation. I actually remove the Torqeedo “profile” - the airplane wing shaped silver part on the motor shaft. I cut it in half on a band saw and put it back on. This allows the motor to sit higher, closer to the water surface. Rus Snyders KBF National Champion 2022

This video shows the why and how of chopping the Torqeedo profile for shallower operation.

The same old story. When kayaks first became popular they were light weight and could be carried by one's side using a single hand; no big deal walking down a steep slope with one. Now, it's not unusual to see one that is in excess of a hundred pounds. Then you've got the battery, motor, paddle, food, bait, fishing gear, life jackets etc. Might as well just buy a small fishing boat with a trailer. My 50 inch wide, 10 foot long Bass Raider is much more practical and a lot cheaper as well ($599 new).

Kayak can be as light or heavy and complicated as desired without need for trailer.

Yeah but many of these come fully rigged with everything that people do to trick out smaller boats anyways but with most of these new large kayaks they have the pedal drives which are either a great main propulsion system or a great secondary if you choose to put a motor on, and as for portability just get a kayak cart and you are still able to take them places you wouldn't be able to with a small boat

Could you share what hardware you used to set up the foot steering? I want to install it on my Knarr. Great video btw.

How much does all that extra stuff on that boat weigh?

I didn’t ask that question, but it’s a good one. Head on over to Jameson’s channel and leave him a comment and I’d bet he’d get back to you.

The battleship Knarr must weigh about the same as five Eddyline Skylarks.
