Jim bought this 1963 Dodge D-100 pickup truck from @mr.goodpliers6988 so he could get it running after sitting for more than 40 years and drive it 350 miles home to Iowa. I tag along with Jim and together we resurrect this classic hunk of American iron.

I love Jim that man really knows how to keep the grass lubricated.
It's great because it makes grass less noisy 👌
Probably the best part of the truck
Call the truck the “valdez”
😂
Your pfp reminded me of past endeavors that I forgor about :((
*Fireball out the carb"
Dalton: "This can only end well"
This is why I watch this channel
Fireball down the carb… works for me.Shot ‘o whiskey can clean anyone’s jets!
Your truck may need a generator instead of an alternator. If it has an alternator, you don't need an external voltage regulator. The alternator has one built in.
Jim went for that freehand pour with EXTREME prejudice. Amazing. 10/10
I swear every video that Jim is in he says some obscure thing that gets me rolling.😂Jim is a cool dude to have around.
Why thank you, sir!
Jim is amazing.
Agreed 👍
Love Jims humor and personality - his dog at the end was so cute! ❤ and obedient too. She snapped right out when he "Alright lets go"
Jim inevitably says something funny.
2 minutes in and I'm already dying 😂. Y'all are too good!!!
So glad I'm apart of this club!!!!
It's like a family.
I have to argue that truck is a gem. Also I seen junkyard digs get a mustang running that had street sign floorboards screwed in with self tappers. You sure you didn't sell them that Mustang? 😂
Nah they just swapping conent for a but
I don't know why they call them self tappers. They are self drilling screws. Self tapping screws tap their own threads, pilot holes have to be drilled
That mustang was a rust bucket but with all the options being a GT and true V8 it could be worth something to a restoration nut
If it was license plates you'd know Derek had his hands in it.
@@shabadoo24 I dont know why they call them self drilling screws. I have do drilling, screws just stay in the box.
People saw Jim driving by with dalton in the back thinking “man that’s the ugliest dog I’ve ever seen” 😂😂😂 jk dalton!
😆
Man, that’s ruff! 🐶
Damn thas a funny lookin st.Bernard
Yes, Dodge did offer these D-100 trucks with a big window. I owned a 1968 big window with a slant 6 and a three speed. Those poly-head 318's were great engines.
I love it when JIM makes his guest starring appearences….jim is a hoot and seems like a great guy to have on your team!!!😊
Thanks for the kind words. I'm just a car guy that likes to have fun with old vehicles.
47:50 😂 The look on her face is priceless. It was like she was thinking "Thank God I get a small break😂.
Haha.
The bottle of water trick works like a charm on sticky valves. Been doing it for 40 years.
Grandpa did it and that's where I learned it.
@@PoleBarnGarage I love that truck....I'll take truck...put some royal lancer fin toppers ,some white walls...and take it to cars and coffee
This old Dodge sat in a farm tree row near Garden City Kansas. When the farmer went to trade it in on a newer truck, they offered a $50 allowance for it. He told them "For that little, I'll park it here". And that's where it sat for decades. I bought it at a farm auction. It had a spray rig mounted in the bed, and the factory tailgate was long gone. I searched far and wide for a gate but finally ended up buying a whole pickup bed trailer just for the gate. The truck got shoved around my yard for a couple years, then shoved to Dalton's place, and the rest is history...
The Inevitable Jim fits perfectly with you, JD and Jess lol
I have found myself growing an interest in these 60’s Dodge trucks, but I have enough projects as is haha
For a real challenge get an International pickup..you'll get real creative as parts are not to be found
That must have been the hood latch warning light
"your hood is ajar, now it is a taco"
It's so fugly it's beautiful 🥰 I love those ol hunk o junks...when it finally runs good, it usually stays that way. Nice grab, jim!
Jim that was one of the worst pours I've ever seen.... instant classic. Thanks for the laughs on the channel
Not to mention the angle on the valve cover was not conducive to a free pour!
Yeah.... that was a fail for sure! LOL
Lol😂
8:40 only god was keeping that shirt from getting caught in the fan 😂
The best truck I ever owned. 68 Fargo. Red and white. Cab lights, nice ones. Tweed headliner. Auto with the shifter on the dash. Near the radio. 383. I removed the bench seat. But I kept it and put in a nice set of leather bucket seats from a Lincoln. My steering wheel was white. The truck was a work of art. I sure miss it.
My grandmother owned the coolest cars in the 70s and 80's. She had a Dodge car with push button transmission she bought at church for $300 !! It was mint, too. If I only had all the cars she owned I'd be rich. I was a stupid kid.
Jim blends right in with the crew with his humor 😂😂.
The three of you make a good team. Funny stuff. Love to see these two guys with you on another project.
Membership perks! Great video! Jim and Dalton seem like they have a lot of fun together. The banter is really good! That truck is super cool!
That is a beautiful truck! 318 poly is such an underrated engine.
I'd like to see more Inevnatable Jim and Dalton episodes. They make a great pair. Yes, please do include our beloved JD. Kevin and Angus from JYD do it. Between watching PBG and JYD, I love both Dymanic Duos. It's fun, hilarious, and informative.
I love old cop cars, had a couple. Love to score a 9C1 Caprice.
I LOVE 💕 IT WHEN POLE BARN GARAGE invites THIS awesome mechanic to their home. The two make an awesome collaborative team. They both are very entertaining! What a great video 📸. Thanks.
U know its gonna be a great video when Jim is threatening to steal YOUR parts LOL
The Dodge is better than good! I'm happy for Jim and that you didn't lose the shop 👌🏻🤘🏻🇺🇸
Jim was just free balling 😂😂
I liked how Jim tried putting out a fire with an oily paper towel. 😂
Hey Dalton, I’ve been watching you’re videos for a while now and it’s inspired me to try out making TH-cam videos again (i used to do gaming videos when i was younger lol)
I’m currently in the process of editing my first video, im doing a few repairs on my car.
Wish me luck! 😎
those old Dodge trucks are awesome
Absolutely amazing, there is no way here in Australia we could get away with driving that old Dodge on the road,it would immediately be defected and taken off to impound, saying that I love it 😂👍🇦🇺
God bless USA. 😊
I don't know what the hell was the matter with me, saw this vid an hoy ago just started watching to the Classic PBG line "Quit makin me laugh fucker" I laughed my ass off my friend Way to go Jim!
This is an awesome lookin truck, can you imagine what it would like fully restored?? I love it.....
The cut at the end "you don't need everyone to know how tiny your - " made me LOL
Magnifying glass needed?😅
Jim putting oil in the truck and you two laughing your asses off was some of the funniest shit I've seen in awhile😂
Jim is hilarious and a natural in front of the camera. I do like that body style of dodge pickups
The future dalton is usually the funniest part of the video but Jim lubricating the manifold and grass just topped it by far
A lot of people refer to the Sweptline trucks as ugly but I have to disagree, I’ve always loved the way they look. There’s just something about them. I especially like them in crew cab. They always make me think of the truck that ran Clark Griswald off the road in the beginning of National Lampoon Christmas Vacation. 🤷♂️🌲
It looks just as good as the fords of the time and people love those fords!
@@sandyv4819 yes they do and I’m a diehard Ford guy.
I always think of "Overboard" with Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn I love that movie and I love the way this truck looks.
I have to admit I like these old Dodge trucks the way they look. LOL 🙂
Would love to find one! I learned how to drive on our ranch in Texas in a 1962 Dodge. It was a stepside, had the slant 6 and 4 speed stick with granny gear. That thing would drive through or over just about anything. In high school, I often pulled guys in their fancy duellies out of the mud.
Dodge called them the short box utility line trucks and Chevrolet and Ford called them step side short boxes . I have a 71 that's been lowered with the door handles shaved off & it has a 530 HP 440 wedge with a 727 with a 3,500 flash speed converter with a manual valve body . The rear is a 8/3/4 with the sure grip and 3:55 gears . Mines has updated axles so nothing like this truck has because these style axles this truck in the videos are known to have axle failures because the keyways like to break shear off .
The Inevitable Dodge.
I like your commentary on the coal roller. I'm a bit of a truck snob and there's a big difference between cool and that monstrosity.
NO WAY !!!! That truck is RAD !!! It looks like a Cadillac / Dodge truck hybrid. I've never seen one, love the dual headlights, it's just PERFECT !
4:35 That doorless yard car is also AWESOME. Sitting 40 years and it basically started right up. Old cars RULE.
Explain again your grampa's trick for trickling water into the carb, please, Dalton.
Add water down carb. Running engine gets hot. Hot engine cooks water. Water gets hot n makes steam. Steam cleans inside engine. Running engine farts stuff out exhaust. Leaving a cleaner engine to run better
That is called a dodge swept line. They weren’t made for very long. I’m not a mopar guy I prefer my dentside ford however a swept line with a 426 wedge is a truck I want. I have the 426 from a friend that’s a running engine just need the truck for it
@@KingsGoldNewYork Thanks ! It's genius in its simplicity.
@@ajgurney5811 Thanks for the info. It's such a cool truck.
22:00 🤣 Don't go changing Dalton! 💯
Uber driver bringing me home from a hospital stay back in July had the hood deal happen. Nissan Leaf had the front trunk pop open on the expressway at speed and FUBARed the guy's windshield. Definitely a Code Brown moment.
This is one of my favorite model Dodge truck. I really enjoyed watching this episode with Jim.
I love seeing these old vehicles roaring back to life, good work all!
We had an old dump truck that had a 318 polywhateverMoparnonesense and it bent a bunch of push rods and I kept waiting for y’all to pull valve covers and pull out a question mark.
Thanks!
theres a guy in my town that has one of these, 4 wheel drive and in really good condition, drives it around town every once in awhile
Love that old dodge. My dad's was a d100 with a slant 6 and 3 on the tree. Wish I could find another like it.
I know a guy I think we all know that guy has 30 fords, and says he loves how his old fords run yet none of them do.
Real men, truly……..👏👏👏
Good afternoon from Cape Cod ⛵ yeah it's certainly ugly but it looks to be a solid candidate. You guys are a blast to watch, I love your sense of humor Jim. Yeah everything's going well, until it wasn't 😭 I think the hood now has more character. Thanks for all your hard work guys and the awesome video ✌️🇺🇲
Thanks, we always have a blast together!
Viva Cape Codders
@@123andme thanks man
Truck has definite potential 👌
TPBGIF, Thank Pole Barn Garage It's Friday!!! A few minutes in and my Friday has completely turned around. Thanks Dalton and Jim, appreciate you and your channel.
Thanks for watching! We had a blast.
I lost my job, thank goodness there's some pbg to take my mind off things
If you’re in southern Kansas I can get you a really great automotive job

The don't make me laugh f*cker comment had me rolling.
Reminds me of when myself and my brother work on a car together.
Dalton: The coil wire is literally wire ... THATS WHAT WE USED TO MAKE THEM OUT OF YOUNG UN.
I thought I was going mad, plug WIRES, is what they are called!. When we were young they were all wire, no need for suppression of electrical noise, no one had radios then! Thanks for pointing this out to the younger generation. At least we knew what they were called for a reason.
Ive never spent a single penny on a youtube membership but you sir deserve it. One of the best car channels on youtube, no BS just humor, bad luck and cars! Love the vids man 😎🤟
Ugly? I always liked that style of Dodge truck.
Ask a toddler to draw a picture of "a truck" and you get a D100.
Those are magnificent vehicles.
Especially when powered by a slant six. You could almost set up a small machine shop under the hood.
Really, fond memories of swearing at MOPAR products of that era.
I'd love to have one now to swear at.
Next time you visit us at O'Reillys, ask for Certified Parts Professional. We wear red patches on our sleeves
Membership definitely has its rewards 🤘😎
I've not seen the "Ole Water Drip" carb & jet cleaner trick in a very long time!!! My Dad taught me that when I was 14 & dragged my 1st pile home and got it running....WOW!!!
If you wanna know why old Chevy C10s are so popular. . . . work on a Dodge.
I have to say , you are using Valvoline VR1 instead of shell Rotella, in all of your videos I’ve watched,my hats off to you sirs!!! My favorite TH-cam channel!!
Not ugly it's beautiful
Man we always look forward to your videos. You just keep rolling out the hits man. The patina on that truck is perfect!
Hood over the windshield had to make the trip exciting!!!
It definitely was an attention getter!!!!
The hoods on these were designed to open up all the way to the roof line so you don't need to pull the hoods off on these to pull a engine out . I've had 3 of these trucks 2 68s and 1 71 which I still have that's 440 powered .
I had a hood come up like that on me before. I was going over a train overpass and the wind got it just right. Lucky for me it only wrecked the hood springs as I matted the brakes hard right away and didn't contact the roof or windshield of the truck. I couldn't see any issues with the hardware so I can only assume someone was messing around under the hood or something and did not latch it all the way after. I did not live in the best of places at the time....
Lol the bleeps are terrible and that makes it better lol
definitely should do more videos with this recording style, super relaxed and hilarious to watch!
Roadkill: Here's a barely rusted obscure motor we'll slap a supercharger on and drive 20 miles to the trailer.
Pole Barn Garage: here's a pile of rust we found in a field and lets drive it 300 miles after cleaning the spark plugs with an angle grinder
I like the body style. Probably because the entire world does square bodys or Fords. It will be tough not to put the body on one of those however given the spare part challenges.
I love these trucks.
Loved the gas stop in Carrollton MO. Most of my family is from there and I was born there.
We are freeballing this shit - Jim
Dang straight!
That red lamp that came on was the hood latch warning indicator 🙂
Why I'm addicted to PBG? Simple. Ge finds a POS somewhere, gets it running (sort of) and road worthy (even more sort of) and has a memorable experience and keeps some rusting hulk from going to scrap. What's not to love?
Love Jims humor and personality - his dog at the end was so cute! ❤ and obedient too. She snapped right out when he "Come on, OUT..lets go"❤
Shut your mouth dalton. These are the coolest trucks.
I enjoyed watching that old Dodge making it without any issue. Amazing.
Dalton has forgotten both the existence of the cyber truck, and thr 2019+ 1500 silverado as the ugliest trucks ever
@@somerandomness4285 Amen
Really solid old dodge.. thanks for the video Dalton
Love those old dodges
Jim fits right in with the PBG ethos 👌. 😊. Top notch
My dad had a 1962 D100 with a slant six, standard shift, back in the 90’s. Looked very much like that one, good memories with that truck.
Ha! I drove one of these with 3 on the tree. The damn linkage would over center and lock up the shifting. Good times
Sweet old Dodge. Reminds me of the 64 my dad bought from a plumber and what I drove to school. Ours had the slant six with push button automatic. That was my favorite thing about the truck and probably the reason my dad bought it in the first place. 😊
Sweptline one of my absolute favorite dodges from that era! I almost bought a clean big block manual truck years ago and sadly passed on her for a dumb modern sports car.
God i love jim hes super funny and awesome to watch cant wait to see more vids with him!
Man that's a beautiful truck, getting it running and drive it how it is
great video as always Dalton...I know you like to bag on Mopar anything...but I felt a glimmer of redemption in your heart when you said..."this old truck has impressed me"
I've owned several 70's era Mopars over the years...and I can say I loved every damn one of em.
they're just not as cookie cutter common as the other 2 brands...
The variety of textures in the kislux pack is impressive. From smooth leather to textured suede, there's something for everyone.
Hell of a old truck Jim . Hope ya restore it up good. Believe it's worth the time y'all. Love polebarn garage.
No worries, gonna be doing it up right and keeping it!
You and Jim mays a great team work on junk and there"s not many people would try to drive 350 miles something that has been sitting 40 years I love watching your videos there"s nothing like a old truck with manual transmission
I was so bored and than a new episode thank you for saving me lol
Love the truck! For future reference, you can use a Ford solenoid, but you lose the neutral safety switch. The second small terminal on a Ford is a lower voltage for non-ballast wiring, in the Mopar it’s the NSS. They are definitely available but aren’t cheap. Drums are available too.
That truck you saw that's not a truck that a parking lot princess 😂
Buddy of mine in highschool had one of those hog-nose Dodge d100s, and it was a frickin TANK lol.
318 with an automatic.
Every time he'd try to do burnouts in it, the wheelhop was so bad it would shake your teeth out of your head.
I drove one of these for over 20 years as my daily driver in Los Angeles only selling it in 2017.... Did a lot of upgrades - Thing is a tank
Yes.... yes it is!
@@the-inevitable-jim I'm going to try to make that Duct Tape Drag thing - I'm in LA but have a house close to that event in Huachuca City - I still have my OG 318 distributor that was run on a dwell machine and I put a Pertronix ignition in it - I can bring it with me if you want it... Of course that's if I can make it, I'm at 89.7% right now
@AstroVanTribe sounds good! I'm planning on driving the Merchero.
I have a 64 d100 that has been my daily of a few years now.
