Thank U Bro!!!...👊🏾. I love the old clips of cycling...to me it's when racing was real...well done....plus only ever seen two clip of Bernard Hinult... He was Bad Ass!!!...👊🏾
Just like Poulidor, Zoetemelk had the bad luck having to ride against the two greatest cyclists of all time. Not only that. In the early 70's he rode in a time that had the most amount of talented and potential tour winners riding at the same time.
Zoetemelk was unlucky to have his career overshadowed by Merckx and Hinault respectively, and because of that finished 2nd on multiple occasions. It's only right he won it once at least at the end of his career.
By the way. I am having a tremendous Deja vu between Alpe Duez 1977 and 1978. Tell me if this soubds familiar. A Belgian man in the polkadot is in the lead, a Frenchman and two Dutchmen are chasing him. In the end Zoetemelk cracks but Hennie Kuiper sprints away to win the stage.
Il était jeune le blaireau à l'époque mais déjà la super classe dans son maillot de champion de France. Merci Bernard pour ces belles années.
Great job Steven. You're doing the community a helluva service

Wow, Phil and Paul before they were Phil and Paul.

6:54 Love the mention of Paul Sherwin.
Que gran etapa! Grandes momentos! Hinault grande!
Joop Zoetemelk, one of the most underrated cyclists ever.
Bizarrely, his name was about the only one that the commentators managed to pronounce correctly.
@Sid Yes . about the only one that could keep the wheel of both Merkcx and Hinault.
Probably the top champ that got caught the most for doping too but everyone seems to have forgotten about that !
Thank you so much for uploading!
From BBC's 'World of Sport'... What a programme!

And then a freakin' World Championship in '85!!!
Fun to watch on the bike I could.
Stay strong, Steven
"It's almost the end for Michel Pollentier and nobody can ever deny him the win!"
If not tester found him out, then mass spectrograph.
There is a documentary about the absolute brain dead way he tried to hide his doping. Anyone but him would have known he would get caught.
Very apt and often overlooked aspect to the way a doped rider effects a race and the tactics of the other riders, as Liggett quotes JZ saying.

1978 J'ai éclos de l'œuf

Bernard! All "CHARGED" yet got to keep his maillot jaune.... tisk tisk tisk...
What I wanna know is how did hit Hennie Kuiper his head on an overhanging rock? Were they racing through a cave??? lol
Because it was an overhanging rock.

pretty sure the crowd noise is an audio loop.
No, the commentators were sitting close to each other with their own monitor screens near the finish and amongst the crowd.
Hoy el nieto de Mariano Martinez gana la sexta etapa de la vuelta a España 2023
Doesn't know difference between suffix and prefix when discussing race numbers.
Who is Bernardino ?
lol
The wife calls my dick “Santiago”
A 28 y/o Bernard Hinult in this race!
He was 23
Mariano Martínez es francés o español
