Personally the most hilarious thing I know of in history is the official first meeting between Henry VIII and his fourth wife, Anne of Kleeves. Henry was a romantic sap, and used a common trope in most romance novels of the time: he dressed as a peasant and snuck off to see her (what happens in the stories of the time is that the noble prince would dress in rags and visit his beloved, and she would recognize that’s its him and they would become happily married.) Of course, he sneaks into Anne’s private viewing box of a BEAR FIGHT, and immediately starts kissing her. At this point, Anne of Kleeves had never met Henry VIII (it was her brother, the Duke of Kleeves, who kept asking for Henry to marry his sister), and Anne also didn’t know a word of English or any common tales or “tropes”. She hit him, demanded he leave her be, and then went back to watching the fight. Henry returned to the castle, enraged, yelling “I like her not” and in his embarrassment, instead of telling his court what happened, he just kept saying she was ugly. She found out later it was him, apologized profusely, and Henry admired her company despite not loving her. When they inevitably divorced a mere six months later, Anne was so understanding of the situation that Henry gifted her countless riches and a mansion to live in. They separated so amicably that she was given the title of “The King’s Beloved Sister” and they stayed mostly friendly to each other. As a side note, the Duke of Kleeves so desperately wanted his sister to marry that after the beheading of Henry’s fifth wife- Katherine Howard(who has a really depressing story btw)- he asked Henry to MARRY HIS SISTER AGAIN, to which they both denied.
During the mongol conquests, a small village a few miles from the nearest city, upon hearing that the city did not submit to the mongols, rapidly converted the largest house in the village into a makeshift townhall/goveners house, (i forget the term that was used for leader of town.) Named the oldest person in the village leader and convinced the mongol army that their village was infact completely independent from the neighboring city and had their new "leader" state that they wished to submit to the army. This village was the only populated area in the region to not be slaughtered.
As a New Zealander I've seen pleanty of Moa skeletons and those things were wayy bigger than humans, if an eagle could take out those things of course it could take out us

Basically, one forgets an important point when it comes to the Mongols. They were nomads. You could give up and we stole your property. We had a big party and then left again. Most of the time they didn't even leave a few people behind to sort out their affairs on site. So cities could upgrade their defenses, join a league of cities or simply a larger nation so that the large armies could fight each other when the Mongols came back and all you had to do was pay taxes to the new kingdom

His army took shelter there for the night only for the Russian army to burn the city to the ground, forcing Napoleon to abandon Russia and return to France. Basically there are so many awesome stories from World War II in Africa about black troops fighting the Axis powers. but most are largely unknown to the world due to racism. Blacks were second class soldiers and that's why the victory was often attributed to some white man. There should be a film made about it

the story of Genghis Khan is incomplete the Sultan had not entirely intentionally attacked one of Genghis Khan's caravans, they had been robbed and the men killed Genghis Khan then sent a letter listing exactly which ones were and how much gold and silver he had destroyed as compensation for them caravan and the lives taken. it was probably a very comprehensive demand. Then the Sultan said fuck you and killed everyone in the delegation except for a few officers who had their hair and beard removed and were sent back again. then Genghis Khan wiped his entire kingdom off the map the historical record actually ends with the arrival of Genghis Khan
