So much knowledge, acquired in years, concentrated in just a couple of hours and sharred with great passion and perfect communication. THANKS A LOT, ,REALLY
He Dean - this is great - I love studio tours and the like and particularly Eurorack breakdowns. Really great to see your Techno rack and what's in it and why? Really inspirational,
This is pure Gold. Thank you so much for sharing knowledge in such a positive and inspiring way!! I’m trying to start my journey in this world. I have only experienced semi modular synthesizers, arp 2600 is being my teacher, helping me to understand the logic behind patches. I feel like I’m getting more confident to start my path into eurorack! I got super excited about the idea of creating this kind of grooves in such a compact system. Surgeon inspired me with his setup, he is using a very similar tipe of modules as yours, in conjunction with octatrack, being used as a looper and sampler. Keep the great work 😊
Thanks Dean. I am also building a smaller techno live case. You are right that it's critical to keep it simple enough to play instantly. Tough to resist more complex modules. Also, you have left space in the rack for labels and notes if required. Please channel your wisdom to me lord of the rack. I'm trying to figure out what to steal from my big rack and how to reintegrate the live rack with the studio rig. Lots to think about. I like the sounds you are getting out of this thing. Never tried the Golden Shower. Great name, and it looks great for techno. Thanks for being so positive man. You're an inspiration.
@@ElectronisoundsAudio It's Ryan btw. Been watching a while man. I had subbed previously on another user profile. The room you built is amazing, and you put out a ton of great content. You make great music (cover a lot of styles too) and are skilled with so much different gear. Thanks for checking my channel out. Yes, my setup is also monstrous. The channel is more of a record than entertainment for others, so not really polished. Just working on my live jam as it's the most fun. I'll do a vid about my live case when it comes together...over the next few months. Take it easy.
I made a terrible mistake watching 90% this before going to bed last night. I stayed up on my phone for hours remaking my (work in progress) rack on ModularGrid and just envisioning what I could do. Hahaha. I currently have a 104hp 4U Intellijel Pallete that was built for Ambient, but slowly acquiring modules geared more towards doing live techno for a 6U and 12U custom cases my father is almost done building for me in his woodshop. I recently got a XOR Nerdseq (I love trackers) and also picking up a Erica Synths Bass Drum 2 this weekend from PC. Thanks for taking the time to make something like this while sticking to the 'explain like i'm 5 years old' style of teaching the whole time. This was hands down the most informative video on modular synths I've ever seen. Are you going to the Black Techno event coming up this February in LA? I've always been nervous about going to meets since there's always been this element of not quite fully grasping the thing I've spent so much money on, but now I want to dip my toes in and meet people!
Hey Hey! Thanks for watching and for the kind words! Big Ups! 😁🙏👊 No, I don't really get out much to meet-ups these days. I don't drive which makes it a lot harder. Good Luck with those new cases!! 👍👍
Hey Hey, Erik! The Mazzatron sequencer takes less HP so I can fit more in a system with it, but more importantly, it allows me to effortlessly change the sequence/pattern up in real-time. The knob in the middle controls the direction and amount of steps of the sequence, and can also make the pattern go backwards, or ping-pong back and forth from the beginning to the end, meaning - if I use it for BASS, I can keep changing the notes / pattern for the bassline in real-time very, very easily, where the Sequence 8 does not have these features. Thanks for watching! 😁🙏👊
@@eriksmeets9254 I wasn't using the extra sequencer outputs, so I didn't miss them. That being said, I'm not still using this same case/configuration. I have several cases, large and small and am constantly making new systems and configurations with what I have. This video was made as a way to do some basic explaining about how things work, and what people might need to keep in mind when creating a small system for Techno. 😁👊
DEAN thanks for your tutorials,so inspiring but I get lost with the patching destinations between all those Modules that you can route and control in live situation, sonic sculptures, hoping I can get hang of all the probabilities Cheers👍🆒🎶🎶🎶🎶🔱🇬🇧🕸🕸🕸👽
Thanks for the support, Martin!! 😀 👊 It's taken me so much work and study to get my head wrapped around all this stuff! Gotta take it one step at a time! 👍
Well, that's a robust drum module with a very specific sound, not a full case of modules, but absolutely could be one possible solution for drums in Eurorack format. Thanks for watching! 😁👊

Yo, John! Thanks for watching! 😁👊
As always...thanks for sharing, Dean. What's your favorite scale to use for techno?
Hey Hey! Thanks for the support! 😀 👊
My favorite scale for everything (if I get to choose one) is Fminor Pentatonic. 💙
Hi Dean, sorry to come in late but MDLR is a Dutch company and not Aussie... they are from Holland.
Really? That's your take-away from this? Ummm...... ok?
Great! Btw that bigger case, what brand/model that is :)

The big case was custom made by www.EurorackModularCase.com

Looks like I can get nearly all of this out of a Queen of Pentacles with a Ground Control by Emndorphines
