    Great tips! Send two Running Order trigger channels into Mimetic X & Y through a mute switch. When muted you get the 16-step pattern via a clock into N. Unmute Ch 1 for a new variation of the pattern. Unmute 2 for another. Unmute both! As you define the RO patterns to be longer and more complex, the variations become more random. Mute both to return to the original pattern. This is a permanent setup in my modular now.

    Been trying to get my modular set up actually working in my studio but my problem was i just bought random modules that looked cool in other videos i saw, I've come to realize I actually need to design a synth with my modules or else I will never get results that I want, and honestly probably never touch it. What I think i really should do, is save up like $3000 and just build a whole new modular box . This small set up is killer, this might actually work for me.

    This kind of sequencing technique is why I love modular!

  • @ChristopherOrth
    @ChristopherOrth ปีที่แล้ว

    I love using Scales the same way you do! One fun trick is to turn off every note of the scale other than the root. Jam a bit on the cool pattern. Then add the octave. Then maybe the 5th, etc. Just add/swap notes to get a build up/down of that part. Pair that with a second voice that has two different sequencers running with a dif pattern in each. Then manually or modulate switching which seq gets sent to the second voice (or occasionally both!). Killer variations off minimal patterns.

    You've certainly got a lot of mileage out of that tiny case! Scales is a great module to have for its hands-on controls. (Plus it looks cool in black panel).
    There are so many good sequencer modules that incorporate randomness at different levels but I really enjoy using the Qu-Bit Bloom fractal sequencer.
    Also I always shout-out the Acid Rain Maestro whenever I see it! It does take up space in a small case like that, but it's totally worth it for all the modulation that it's capable of.

    If you want to play musical sounds go get a workstation with samples or learn how to play some classic instruments.
    Synthesis is awesome as it is because you can create and explore sound.
