  • The back of the front mudguard is very close to the tyre. So I attempt to raise the guard a little,

That brings to mind a term from years ago……..an elegant solution.
I’m in the “mudguard” group rather than a fender. Trying to keep the Aussie terms in use mate. 🏍🇦🇺

Agree. Only did it for “views” from all those people who can’t speak proper English !

That should help keep the tyre and mudguard clear the built up red clay...👍

Well done this is the sort of modification I would make, if I could make a suggestion from my Armchair, wouldn't it have been better to countersink the stainless brackets and use countersunk bolts . Regards from England.

Yes it would have been better to countersink the bolts. I should do that. I was too slack to buy countersink bolts as I already had the cap heads.

Why spent time rising the mud guard one centimeter? Because I can and it's fun... 😁 Regards from Portugal 🙂👍🇵🇹

To be fair it raised 2cm. But yes it’s because I can.

My old Kawasaki Ninja had this issue. When I removed the fender to change the front tyre there was a groove worn into it down the middle where it was rubbing!

      Oooo. Nasty

Common fault on Kawasaki's since the very first ZX10 (pre curser to the zzr) in 88. The H, J & L series zxr750's were the same. zx6r, zx7r and zx9r same as well.

Also I am surprised that Aussies call them fenders, and not mudguards like your English brethren! (I am not saying which is right or wrong... as an American I am firmly in the fender camp).

The language is called "English" which is from England so that makes ANY "adaptation" of this language by any other nation as WRONG. .... just sayin

    • @AfricaTwin-Stuff
      @AfricaTwin-Stuff  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

Agree. “Fender” is just for the US viewers who don’t speak English ! I couldn’t even maintain the “fender” reference when narrating 🤣

@@AfricaTwin-Stuff😭. I lived in the UK for a couple of years so I know my vocabulary! And yes, I have also learnt better than to disagree with those who invented our (mostly) common language!! 😬😊

One thing I do know ....When the Japanese do something ...its for a reason.

It does make sense to have the back gap smaller than the front so anything that gets into the guard can get out.
It’s just that the back space is really too small for an adventure bike.

@AfricaTwin-Stuff very nice mod here. Just wondering if you would be happy to produce some the same as yours and send them to me when I eventually get an Africa Twin myself? Would be happy to pay for the work and postage.

@AoKuangLoong - thanks for the vote of confidence but I’m not comfortable doing work for anyone else. I’m just a back yard tinkerer.
