My dad who flew a glider in WWII and was involved in the big glider drop in Holland built a Midget 51 Mustang in our garage for nearly 9 years. My father was a perfectionist when it came to building the Mustang and was a member of EAA out of Corpus Christi, Texas. For a number of years my dad flew his experimental P-51 to Oshkosh and each time won first place in his class as it was a Midget Mustang not a full version of the P-51. My mom and I called it The Grey Mouse when we saw it preparing to lift off the runway. My dad is gone now and I still have a photo of him flying that plane. I am happy to say my mother and I also helped many times in building that plane. Sweet memories!
It makes me laugh to see just how tiny the Mustang was, even the Skyraider completely dwarfs it, let alone today's massive fighters.. which the really funny part is that the F14 was even bigger still.
Came here for the P-82 Twin Mustang in the thumbnail and was not disappointed, even if it was a brief glance. I didn't realize any of those were still flying!
Paul Alongi you're right, it was lovely for him to 'air' this video, and to 'chute' the film. It is 'plane' awesome. It was also nice of him to 'take off' the music, and tell a few of the 'tales' related to the aircraft. I am simply over the clouds.

Leonardwood we heard these things constantly-not flying but the 'BRRRRPPP!!!!' of it's 30mm cannon on training flights. Made us ground pounders appreciate we had that thing on our side.
I always had FRONT-ROW seats in my OSHKOSH BP4 TFA (Truck, Fire, Aircraft) while in the RAAF in the 1970's! ... On the edge of the runways! Graet stuff!

This is a great video! You forgot to mention Matt Chapman making his last EAA AirVenture Oshkosh appearance as he retired like Julie Clark at the end of the 2019 airshow season. Other than that I am looking forward to the next installment in 2020.
What was that but about the show box being smaller at Oshkosh? Is it because of how many people are in the audience or what is situated around the airfield (homes, businesses, etc.)?
It’s amazing but the US had a squadron of Spitfire fighters. I didn’t know until I saw an RC model with US markings that I identified as a spitfire that I just thought was a rebranded model but know there really was and operational unit.
Dang, F-82s, Spits, P-51-H's I assume, Mig 15 or 17, couldn't tell, they just have some of the best of the best don't they? Going back up to watch it a lil more, do they have a A2D? Oh and an F-80 I believe?
Wrong Info at 51mins into documentary here !! Actually the Hawker Hurricane had the the Highest Kill ratio in the Battle of Britain not the Supermarine Spitfire !!

IMO the twin mustang is one of the most majestic ones out there.

That Saturday raptor demo was unlike anything I'd ever seen! Can't wait to head back up for my 5th consecutive year this summer!

The last time I saw that XP-82 it was still a basket case in a hangar in Georgia. Love seeing it in the air.
Wasn’t able to make it to this show even though I went the three years prior. Will always be my favorite airshow.

I remember first seeing that huge fireball Wednesday night and it almost blew me back from the heat, even the announcer was amazed by it.
