@@CorvetteCoonass Hello, LC Tuba89. Were you in the band at Luther College, Decorah, Iowa? I was in the tuba section of Weston Noble's band in the 60s, played twice in Lincoln Center. Like good bands? Type these into TH-cam search bar: "Seika Girls Memorial Sequence 2012-2018," "Seika Girls In The Midst of Youth #5," "Wine-Dark Sea: Symphony For Band/John Mackey performed by Seika Girls High School Wind Orchestra." Seika is 9 times Nat'l Champion of Japan; gave concert at Midwest Clinic, Chicago, in 2010, got 4 standing ovations from audience entirely of band directors. (My best friend in the LC band, Steve Hendrickson, was principal trumpet in the National Symphony Orchestra for more than 25 years, recently retired.)
This is so wonderful. Cory Band mentioned in the same thread as The Cavaliers. History: I was raised in England playing cornet with Carlton Main in the 1970s and taught by Carlton MD and previously Cory MD major H. Arthur Kenney. Moved to USA in 1998. My so James Boyer eventually became a Cavalier (4 years - 2005 to 2008 - Prin Lead Baritone) so to see the confluence between my beloved brass bands and his beloved The Cavaliers is so wonderful Bot Cory and The Cavaliers are amazing examples of brass performance. My Welsh friends should try performing this at breakneck speed on a field now :-). Congratulations to both amazing ensembles. And even though "I" don't know what it means, but I'll say it: SPLOOIE
Is it me or when I heard this piece for the first time with five lakes this year (I’m not in it but I’m in motor city academy we had a pre nabba concert all 3 of our southeast MI bands) it’s literally (I think) movement 2 from Boston Crusaders 2019?
Awesome piece and awesome performance (any chance you can play this at Symphony Hall on the 8th September? ;->). For any other fans of this music be aware that a CD was released containing the full work and other fantastic tracks. It is called "Triumphant Brass" and is easily one of my favourite CDs of all time. Also, for any hifi enthusiasts it happens to be one of the best brass band recordings I have ever heard. Go buy it!
1900maniac For this kind of music, they have to get the best and mature players to stay in the top six. They handled tough no joke pieces in the past, and I believe they can do it right!!
Just saw this piece performed live at NABBA by Five Lakes Brass Band. As great as this recording is... go see a live performance of this piece if you ever get a chance!
I was there as well, and it was mind-blowing. As a Youth Band Trombonist, I was astounded at the trombones' power and tone. Absolutely staggering, especially in the intro. My band director was the third coronet in the band that performed this at NABBA, and he told us that the percussionists hadn't performed with the band prior to that day. Insane, the skill level.
With all respect to the fledgling American Brass band movement I think it will take them a while to reach this standard .As a northern borne Brit. I agree with another who said its in our blood .The area I come from 22,000 people has 9 bands plus youth bands .Its in our blood.
Hahaha, I don't know if there's such a thing as something being "in your blood", but there is much more support for it in Europe, especially Great Britain. With more competition comes better musicians. It's only catching on in the United States. I'm convinced that if there were many more bands in the US, the skill level would be much better simply due to pressure of competition.
Right, I agree. I'm just glad that somebody had the bright idea to do this. I don't know where I'd be today if they hadn't. I'd probably be a much worse musician, for one thing.
Conor McKinney I never thought I would live to see Americans taking to the real brass band experience .The most amazing thing, brass bands are staring to appear in France .
great #SEMPERFIDELIS1888 #QUAPATETORBIS #JEMAINTENDRAI ♫♪ great ♫♪♫♪♫♪☺ BRAVISSIMO #BISBIS #BRASSMOREBRASS #BRASS 🎶🎵🎼 great music! a well tuned ensemble that sounds like an organ ! Fabulous banding! Compliments! #SEMPERFI #QPO #JMD
i think 5000 is still not enough ;) by merely looking at the amount of brassbands in The netherlands you'll see that there is an insane amount of bands.
Maybe if he was asked kindly by DCI, here in Holland we also have a like 2nd division only compared to for example the Devils in championship div. But why not give it a thought ♫♪
That solo horn player is an absolute tank...
the music of our Best Films comes to mind
Owen Farr
That's probably the best recording i've heard in my entire life. Everything is near perfect😍
This will never get old. David Childs never fails to amaze me. I wouldn't expect anything less from my idol 👌🏼
That Euphonium is crazy
One of the best in the world, David Childs
WOW, this is stunning, I think these guys are giants of their craft.
As an All State trumpeter in Texas and brass choir member for four years in a university, This is by far the best I've ever experienced.
The Brits are second to none when it comes to brass.

And don't forget the xylophone/vibes chap - marvellous playing.
Fantastic performance by a very good brass band .
Fantastic euphonium. Greatest brass instrument ever!
Sat on the front row watching this in awe. I’d never seen anything like it
Flawless solo by Owen Farr!! And David Childs and Bert Van Thienen were also superb! what crazy band.
Superb playing! This music is so vibrant & encouraging. I love Peter Graham's works of excellence. Ivor Snell London , Ontario Canada.
Some hope for our young? A breath of fresh air...Thanks for the post, Wonderful!
I play for Bratton Silver and we had a joint concert with Cory today, it was brilliant :)

Didn’t boston crusaders 2019 also do this piece for their second movement?
I never tire of how supremely awesome this is.
Those tuba runs at the beginning are so clean!
Just seen this for the first time having stumbled across the band on You Tube. Absolutely fantastic! Made my hair stand on end.
This is super enjoyable!! You got to love those euphonium and trombone player. Lots of spirit and musicality shown here.

Another Peter Graham masterpiece.
Very inspiring..the conducting, the playing and the composing!
That last chord could've killed the Eb Soprano player lol
Steve Residor n
Brilliant performance
桁外れの心地よさですね
Those tubas players are huge cx I love it!
Glorious last note in the soprano cornet. I wonder how many stars he saw after?? Haha...
WOW! Amazing articulation! Wonderful ensemble!
I'd love to know what the 10 people that have disliked this were looking for.....
Ian Cooper More cowbell

うますぎ!!
Amazing!
4:50 that low brass
Phenomenal!
Wow that's a powerful performance. But even Cory need 2 players on that 2nd trom part. It's a killer ;)

Awesome.
I didn't know valves could move that fast.
Love the porcupine on the Timps

Oh.. Good sounds!

I don`t have words .... :-))
Major major chops
Incredible
I'm all in! GO CAVIES!!!
Cory band is so good
If the Cavaliers are playing this portion of the song they must expect to have some pretty mature players coming in. Should be interesting
1900maniac For this kind of music, they have to get the best and mature players to stay in the top six. They handled tough no joke pieces in the past, and I believe they can do it right!!
ok.
They didn't do the piece any justice.
Thrilling
Superb.
Yeah they do definitely all look like they'd be named Cory
Just....wow...
Cory and Katherine Jenkins 2 of the best Wales has given us.

Jeeeezuz! That's a lot of tongue.
wow....
Jesus these notes are like lights flickering
Remind me again why we need woodwinds?
Well we gotta give em somethin to do. To be nice
They help highschool brass players count.
Only very talented English horns should exist. The rest off with them 😂
Without them we don't have anyone to laugh at.
GJ! Soprano
Why are tenor horns not big in the US? Pretty sure they should be.
Well spotted
BOSTON CRUSADERS 2019
i think 5000 is still not enough ;) by merely looking at the amount of brassbands in The netherlands you'll see that there is an insane amount of bands.
Probably the cleanest sounding Piccolo Trumpet playing I've ever heard.
That's because it's not a piccolo trumpet ;)
só música pesada
the cornet part at 3.14 sounds kind of like a Arban excersise
woah sop monster!!!
Good God!
Peter Graham! Have you ever been paid a fortune to write for Drum Corps International (DCI) in the States?!
Boston is gonna absolutely kill with this finale in 2019!!!!
No because he has talent
Elliot Harrington What’s so bad about writing music for DCI? For all I know, it takes a TON of skill/talent to even write for a corp.
@@elliotharrington5632 oooooooooooo gottem
